Discussion/Question Who Do You Guys Think Is The Best Capcom Villain?
Based off writing, design, popularity, etc. Personally, I think Vergil takes it.

Sagat is the OG SF villain. Bison wasn't introduced until the second game. (Though Bison's obviously the more famous villain, and with Sagat's character evolution over the years, he's become a more neutral, bordering on good character.)
Akuma is the OG of the one's OP presented.

Akuma is not a villain. He doesnāt just going around killing people either. He is mainly only an antagonist to Ryu and he even killed bison because he thought he was misusing his powers.

Did you play dmc at all or what? Vergil was never a villain unless you want to count the time that he was serving Mundus unwillingly (corrupted Vergil). The Vergil you saw in dmc3 was grieving the loss of his mother and the main villain of dmc3 was Arkham. Vergil only served as an antagonist to contrast how Dante dealt with his grief. Vergil did some really stupid things for the sake of power but acting like he was this monstrous villain who is only good now because Nero is just plain idiotic. If Vergil went full power he would have definitely killed Nero but he obviously held back after finding out that Nero was his son.

Did you forget that urizen was Vergilās demon half? Like a full blooded demon without any humanity. The whole point of dmc5 was that vergil would eventually have to come to terms with the fact that he is 1/2 human. The stuff that his demonic half did doesnāt count as he wasnāt his normal self and was acting under the influence of the demonic fruit.

Yeah except his demonic side is still his in the end urizen is part of him, urizens crimes are his crimes too trying to absolve his guilt by saying that is stupid and fine if the stuff in dmc5 wasn't his fault then when in dmc3 he summons the temen ni gru it's obviously in a lived in area implying people were there and even if they weren't he let loose alot of demons which probably got alot of people killed what about that

Urizen is 1/2 of Vergil. Not Vergil. Vergil would be 2/2 as he is half demon and half human. So that means the other half (V) is the human. See how that works? You canāt have Vergil without v and urizen combined. Thatās why he accepted his humanity upon returning to his normal self.

If you read his darkslayer description it even tells you that he is a warrior fallen from grace indicating that he was good at some point until the ambush made him start seeking out power. The power that he wanted was to be able to exact revenge on Mundus. You obviously didnāt even play dmc3 or dmc1 and you donāt know shit.

Has to be Wesker for me, followed closely by M.Bison (Dictator) Honorable mentions to Vega, Sigma and Pyron.
Vergil and Akuma are interesting takes because at this point they aren't purely villains anymore.
Akuma is more a force of nature who wants a fight to the death and the flipside they is official art of him selling fruit to children, plus his relation with Elena. He has some form of honor as he wouldn't randomly murder random children i.e.
Vergil is more complicated. Yes he has done horrible things but he is also a victim in a way (the death of his mother affected him ofc) over time he's slowly becoming more of an anti hero.
On a complete sidenote, I feel most modern day Capcom villains just don't get the job done or completely fumble because of bad or no storytelling at all.
SF5's Necalli was written as a jobber.
RE9's Zeno was just a Temu Wesker clone with zero explanation
RE9's Victor Gideon was very interesting and different but part of his spotlight was taken away by Zeno. Halfway the game he just dissappears only to pop up at the end of the game again. He had loads of potential.
SF6's JP started decent with blackmailing Ken, but quickly turned into "oh I have psycho powers too, just like uncle Bison!" and got upstaged in his own game. With Bison back in SF6 he's kinda done lorewise
It seems Capcom can't buildup their villains anymore and kill them off in the same game. They've become your typical MCU villain :(

Yeah I agree, I love Akuma and he is so dope but he always gave off a "I am doing my own thing" vibe and less of a pure villain Vibe. Wesker on the other hand is 100% in on being a villain. He has a real passion for it lol

Critically, he's a bit badly written, he does dumb shit in DMC3, falls into a lot of pain in DMC1, and when he comes back in DMC5... He didn't learned shit and did the same as he did on 3

Vergil is not a villain. He is an anti-hero and his alignment is more chaotic-neutral than anything else. He does some very dumb stuff in order for power but he is essentially dealing with the grief in the opposite way that Dante is.

I find it hard to call Akuma a villain, he takes an antagonistic role against Ryu that one time specifically to have the fight of his life, everybody else he's never interacted with (short of nearly killing Gouken, fighting Gen 2 or 3 times, fighting the player character challenging M. Bison in SF2, sort of befriending Elena, and teaching the Avatar.) Canonically just about everything else he does is just displaying feats of how strong he is
Anyway, he's evil for the purposes of being selfish, testing out and making the finale use of the power he has. Street Fighter villain? Nah.

Out of the three listed I gotta go Wesker as heās the most ātrueā villain/ little redeeming qualities and the most deceptive at least in his original outing.
The other two have more nuance & shades of gray. While they may still definitely be antagonistic forces in their respective series, Iād be a bit more hesitant to label them as ātrueā villains.

Maybe itās just me but capcom doesnāt really have any true S captivating villains. They have S tier bad guys in terms of how cool they are, however story and writing wise most are average at best.
Straight aura and cool factor probably Vergil, Followed closely by wesker

Myra, breath of fire three.
Racist God who genocides a whole race using manipulation and the fear of power to convince other also gifted groups to kill said race, manipulates your brother into trying to give up your power to the point where he's forced to attempt to kill you all to culminate in her tripling down when you get to her only for her to show you she's just the monster she claims you to be and actually did the thing she was afraid of another race doing.
She walked me for weeks before I finally beat her. Rei got the final blow making it very poetic as he was the only one alive in were tiger.

Dr Wily, his actions directly effected the world long after he died like the Maverick wars and is probably indirectly responsible for the massive changes to the world you see in Megaman Legends. Dude caused more harm than most villains have.

Wesker. Vergil turned over a new leaf when Dante and Nero beat him back to his senses. Akuma mellowed out abit as in SF6 he spares you the player and even teaches you. He doesn't even kill innocent women and children and possibly his bloodlust for killing could have possibly be retconned that he only kills/fights strong and worthy enemies but I could be wrong. Wesker on the other hand locked in on being the antagonist since RE1.

I don't know if it's because of this weird perspective I have on the DMC games but Virgil barely feels like a villain. Like I absolutely love his character and he's definitely a bad guy but compared to other's he doesn't have the same gravity to his villainy as the others. My personal vote has to go to Wesker, he quite literally is a psychotic bioengineered monster who thinks he is going to usher in the future of humanity with a virus that will kill billions
