Testing potency at home?
Good morning. I am wondering how others have approached testing potency at home? Not looking to buy expensive lab equipment and have found some brands that do offer at home test but want to get opinions on what has worked and what hasn’t from you all!

THC percentages are irrelevant. Without a proper terpene profile, high THC weed tastes like cardboard and the effects fade quickly. Welcome to the commercial dispensary hype to spend more money.

% is mainly useful for edibles. I've never seen anyone green out from ingesting too many terpenes.

Only people we've ever see green out over 30 years were the ones with a lower tolerance, but you're entitled to your own opinion as well.

Low tolerance people are exactly who I'm most concerned about. I don't give my edibles to non-potheads anymore.
But anyone can green out. Maybe the low thc weed you buying is the problem.

Most likely the other way around. I've been honored to be a judge at several competitions, and greening out is a big no no, so only people with high tolerances are chosen. But, you'll probably tell me once again how I'm wrong, so go ahead...

Any sort of home test is not gonna be accurate. Send it to a lab if you wanna know. I’m not sure why it would matter. I don’t care if the weed is 5% THC or 35% what matters to me is how it makes me feel. The only time those high numbers matter is for dispensary nonsense cause all the customers come in asking for the highest percentage.

The t-check has always worked for me and been accurate enough for my needs. I use it to test the oil I make for edibles, because I don't like surprises.

I have been playing for that for years with homegrown and the best advice would be is to just guesstimate it.
For instance, last years gmo rootbeer vs last years forbidden fruit. Thats a big difference. Probably 25 for the gmo and 17 for the forbidden fruit and they made completely different edibles.
Just a rough estimate
30 grams of flower
Times 20 percent thc is 6000mg. Minus a third for loss as you do they out all.Rso which I have never messed with is something I’m super interested in and following.

Still it’s all just a guess unless you’re sending it to an actual lab. The home meter could say 15% and it’s really only 8%. There again just like smoking go by using a little common sense well this looks like 20% so I’m gonna call it 20%… it’s really not that big a deal. I make ridiculously strong Gummies and whether they were 40 mg or 75 most people wouldn’t know the difference.

Home tests are not just for dry weed. The tests can also be used to measure dosages for tinctures and edibles. Even if it's the wrong number, it's still consistent.

If the number is wrong, what makes you think it’s consistent? Let’s say there’s a 5% margin of error. You got two strains both are 15% one test at 10% and the other test at 20%. I don’t understand how this home stuff would help at all when they’re not accurate to the slightest from my understanding.

The tcheck is app based, and the machine is good for thousands of tests. You just put the oil or whatever concoction you've made to test in a slide that goes inside the machine for analyzation.
