No AI slop

Upvotes

Content made primarily (or entirely) by generative artificial intelligence is not allowed. This includes AI images, AI videos, AI text, and AI code.

As a general rule, if it's recognizable as AI, it's not allowed in r/Buffalo from now on with some exceptions. Please report these posts if you see them.

A definition of AI Slop: AI slop (also known as slop content or simply as slop) is digital content made with generative artificial intelligence that is perceived as lacking in effort, quality, or meaning, and produced in high volume as clickbait to gain advantage in the attention economy, or earn money.

Question In search of lost wedding rings

Upvotes

Not sure if this is permissible so please delete if not but I am not sure whether I lost my wedding band and engagement ring at Chestnut Ridge on the eternal flame trail yesterday. I am desperate as the wedding band is a family heirloom. Anyone who may know someone I can contact would be great or if you’ve heard anything. My husband is going to rewalk the trail again today.

Thank you.

Question Can we talk about people gaslighting for comped items?

Upvotes

So I will say that my experience isn't limited to Darien Lake. I think we can all agree that in a lot of establishments the minimum wage teenagers are treated worse and worse.

However within 8 hours in the park, THREE TIMES I heard people place their order then once they receive their food, pretend like they said something else and that the staff screwed up. THREE SEPARATE TIMES. 0 of the times did Six Flags Relent. But it was impressive, but upsetting how hard they played the part of the victim.

One went even so far as to say "I know that's what I said. But you should've KNOWN nobody would want that."

I mean it could be backlash for cancelling Fright Fest. But I'm pretty sure that decision wasn't made by the teenagers making your food. It seemed over the top, even for the increased hostility.

Has anyone seen this elsewhere, or is this strictly a Darien problem?

Community bartering/plant trade

Upvotes

Hii I want to reach out to the buffalo community for anyone interested in doing more community trades.

Starting up a local trading/bartering system so far in communication with the nickel city co op and want to talk to any locals wanting to make more changes in this city

I have skills, plants and my time/energy to give, I want to give any mutual aid to anyone who needs outside of the system and monetary control. My goal is to set up this system to give us more control of our own need that are not met my the systems right now.

If there is any communication groups already set up for this or something similar comment them and I'll reach out to them i just haven't found many. (Definitely groups that are safe for queer and poc)

I hope that you all will keep this conversation going even if you don't reply to this post do your own research and keep supporting your neighbors <3

If anyone's wondering this is exactly the correct measurements to bring into darien lake concerts. The security guy at the manson concert was impressed.

What the heck is going on at 7 Brew in Amherst this morning?

Upvotes

Drove by at 7:30am and there’s at least a mile (no exaggeration) of cars trying to get in. My daughter texted me around 8:45 and said it hadn’t gotten any better.

Can someone explain what’s going on with the bees? They act agro every September

Upvotes

Every time I go for a walk they are all over the ground and then hanging around me. I don’t wear anything with fragrance so it’s not a me problem. Just walked my dog and within a few feet I got stung on the arm minding my business. Does anyone know why the bees act different every late August/September

Labor Day - Lost backpack on Lake Erie shore near 18 Mile Creek and Graycliff

Upvotes

Long shot, I know.

A) Perhaps you found my backpack???

B) Perhaps you live along the cliff and/or know people who live near the stairs going down to the beach and frequently take walks there to find fossils

C) Have ideas of FB or Reddit groups I could post this

Would love not to have to replace the backpack and its contents. Reward for finding the backpack or helping me find it will be considered.

Duplicate/Repost Recommendations for a professional headshot photographer in Buffalo?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m currently in Buffalo and looking to get a professional headshot taken for my medical residency application.

I’m considering getting one done at JCPenney, but before I go ahead with that, I wanted to ask here and see if anyone knows of a good photographer or studio in Buffalo that does high-quality, professional headshots at a reasonable price. I’d be happy to consider other options if you’ve had a good experience with someone locally.

If you’re a photographer, photography student, or have had a good experience with someone in the Buffalo area, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks!

Question Andale

Upvotes

Noticed their Transit Rd location in East Amherst (between North French and Casey) has a seized sign on the door. I went to see what information was available online but didn’t get much. Best I can figure is that they weren’t paying taxes (most likely reason) but wondered if there’s been any official word and if their other locations were affected.

Lost pingus

Upvotes

Hey guys, I know it’s a long shot, but I was completing my daily 10km nature walk on NFB yesterday and I must’ve dropped my pingus somewhere in the vicinity of the Applebee’s dumpster. It’s purple and 6 inches, nothing special, but it has significant sentimental value (family heirloom). I appreciate if you all can keep an eye out. Reward will be considered for anyone who finds it.

West Side "Friends"

Upvotes

Ok so....I'm not talking about people. At least not directly.

In the last three years I've lived on the WestSide, I have been forcibly acquainted with one whom I never wished to be.

Skunks. Legit skunks. Of various sizes and speeds apparently.

Didn't encounter them the previous 5 years I lived here in Buffalo, or any other major city I lived.

If it was just from afar, maybe I would just run the other way.....but after having had to clean my dog for the third time this evening, I'm over it. Even worse, it happened because one decided to stroll through the backyard and just chill. Didn't see it until it was too late.

Additionally, I come home from work some evenings and just....smell them. Coming from somewhere, as the wind is always blowing just hard enough for me to not be confident of the distance.

My spouse and I always say "The devil is afoot" whenever we discover ourselves to be downwind of it, but who knows how far it's traveling.

I say all this to say, who else is having this issue/wtf is going on?

Question Where can someone rent a modest space for playing extremely loud music w/o bothering others?

Upvotes

We had a small industrial space in our previous city, but so far haven’t been able to find an affordable equivalent here. Preferably in the Kenmore area, but elsewhere may work as well. Would be very grateful for any recommendations!!

Small weight lifting gym/personal trainer Tonawanda

Upvotes

Looking for an affordable personal trainer/small gym in Tonawanda where it is not male body builder focused.

I’m looking for a small, reasonably priced gym in the Tonawanda area where I can work one-on-one with a personal trainer. I’d prefer a female trainer, but I’m definitely open to a male trainer who would be a good fit. I’m not looking for group classes or an expensive boutique gym.

I’ve been strength training in various forms for decades, but I’d like to learn more traditional gym-based strength training, including proper barbell technique (bench press, etc.), cable machines, and other ways of building strength.

I have a history of back problems, so I need someone who understands how to modify exercises and build strength without putting a lot of unnecessary load on my lower back. I’m not looking for a bodybuilding program or someone who thinks I need to do heavy squats and deadlifts to get stronger.

My goal is to learn proper technique, get stronger, and eventually be comfortable doing more on my own. I’d really like a smaller, welcoming gym that isn’t intimidating and personal training that won’t break the bank.

Any recommendations?
