Nick Yorke is only 24 years old, but he has mostly been a disappointment.

He needs to work hard this winter and earn a spot on the team next spring (assuming there is a season).

RONNY BALL IS BACK!!

Remember when DK pinch hit Brandon Lowe(hottest hitter in baseball) with the bases loaded and he brought in Nick Yorke? Then he grounded into a double play. Inning over. And again we have a chance to come back in the 9th and who’s the last out? You guessed it. Nick Yorke.

I remember all the analytical guys saying it was the right move.

Most "analytical guys" should be put up against a wall.

Not sure the deal with Yorke. He has had a few good stretches and his defense is great, but we need good d AND some consistency in the batters box. I really wanted him to come into his own this year. Injuries have sidelined him for a good portion of the season so maybe he comes back next year with some fire and earns his spot.

About time.

Ronny has better stats than Yorke. We know what Yorke is at this point and he doesn’t deserve a spot on this roster.

I mean he’s 24, he’s gonna keep growing and he shows some bright spots but he’s gonna need some more time in the minors to progress

Nah. I disagree. He was a first round pick from another organization. They gave up on him and I just don’t think he’s that guy. Nothing he has done in the last two years has shown that. He’s 24 now - he’s not really a prospect anymore. He’s at the point where teams cut their losses. Again, he’s struggled at triple-A this year. He started with the big league club.

That’s not at all what happened, he was traded for another first round pick, they didn’t cut him lose or give up on him, that’s like saying the tigers gave up on skubal because they traded him to the dodgers, when in reality it was just a trade the thing that happens all the time for a slew of reasons, and that is just statistically incorrect, he is 2 years younger than the average triple a player and last season he was above average while being 3 years younger than the average triple a player, and the year before that he hit 900 in triple a, so there is no doubt that he can develop it’s just about giving him time, not all players can be all stars out of the gate, for example endy last two times he played had terrible ops, but this season he broke out, while also not performing great in the minors this season, while also being 2 years older than nick, Gonzales is 27 and is fighting for a batting title when the last 3 years he’s been pretty mid, mason monthomer at 25 last year was pretty mid, but this year he is our ace closer, like all these guys are examples of guys who were not good until they broke out because they were just given some time, like yorke will most likely be if given the time

There’s two different kinds of trades. That’s a bad example on your part lol. The tigers had to trade skubal. They had no choice. The Red Sox definitely had a choice, if they thought anything of him, they wouldn’t have traded him. Looking at what Priester has developed into, it was obviously a bad trade on the pirates part.

“No doubt” that he can develop lol.
Ok bud, I get it, he’s one of your favorites or something. But he stinks. Agree to disagree.

Pirates aren’t really in a position to let a 25 year old develop or give him ABs when he’s batting .200 or under. Again, he has been bad in AAA this year as well. Pirates were suppose to be in win mode this season and he hasn’t done anything this year. If the pirates are giving reps to him next year when they absolutely should still be in win now mode, then something has gone wrong. Because they rolled Yorke out there again instead of finding an improvement over Yorke, when that bar is already pretty low.

What is this logic? Boston imediatly traded Priester to the brewers so by your logic does this mean they thought so little of the guy they traded him too? That’s just not how this stuff works, what the Red Sox needed was pitching and what the pirates had an abundance of was pitching, and what the Red Sox had an abundance of was infielders and what did the pirates need? Infielders, that’s baseball, while playing for Boston at almost every level he was hitting almost 900 before the trade, there is litteraly no evidence to indicate a lack of promise in his development from their perspective, but with an already set in stone infield he had no place on their roster so he was better used as a trade piece, that’s baseball

Brother I don’t even like him that much but saying to quite on a promising 24 year old because of less than half a total season in the majors is assanine when he’s having a down year this year compared to being historically really good in the minors

Hey so funny story, they can’t just trade for a third baseman anymore, and our other 2 first baseman are injured, so there really is no better choice besides gonzolas at third which has been a dumpster fire all season, while also having still no great solutions against lefties so an extra righty bat is something to try which yorke is, and now you’re changing the story, this entire time you have been saying to cut him, when he should be just developing more in the minors, now you’re saying just don’t play him in the majors which is like okay sure, but again with injury we don’t have many options at his positions, so unless we can get a good third basemen in cuttings budget I don’t see us not playing him again next year at some point

A bad trade on the pirates part? Buddy, Priester hasn’t even touched a baseball in almost 3 months. He had basically 1 good season of pitching prior to that.

u/cam412 1d ago

Better than a guy who started in the majors this year, has only 3 home runs between the majors and AAA and has done worse at the lower league.

Priester was 13-3 with a 3 era last year, you clown lol. They aren’t even comparable because one is good and one is trash.

What the living hell was that line up yesterday it was an abomination. No Lowe or Horowitz was an insane choice

u/Unfair-Bass-9351 2d ago

Well, for starters his name is Horwitz. Both Horwitz and Lowe struggle against lefties and Horwitz has been bad versus everyone since his injury, so it makes sense

Autocorrect thanks for fixing it for me 😉

They cant hit LH pitching
