Reminder: Please Flair Mourning Posts
Hey void-lovers!
Most cat subs have a very delicate balance between "happy posts about my cat" and "sad posts about my cat", specifically when it comes to pet death. A lot of them don't allow it at all. It's really tough to strike the balance of letting people who are devastated mourn the loss of their furry friend while still making the subreddit usable for people who aren't interested in that kind of content.
We allow mourning posts here, but you have to flair your post with "Mourning" so people who don't want to see them have the ability to filter them out. It's an imperfect solution, but it's all we have available to us with subreddit tools. Please make sure to flair all posts about pet loss with that flair so we can make a great sub for everyone.
In case you're someone who's interested in filtering out that content, this link should work for you. I know, it's not the cleanest way to browse the subreddit, and I'm not sure how it works on mobile. If we had a better solution, I'd provide it, but we have to work within what reddit offers us :(
Thanks for your understanding. If you've read this far, I encourage everyone to post some void laser eyes in the comments.

The void screams back My vampire kitty
Fun fact he survived our house fire back in 2023 by hiding in a cabinet (last pic is how we found him) it was a feat of intelligence he has not yet repeated! He is not the smartest but he is the loveliest

Smol void 🤏 This is my Void son 🖤 He is recovering from dehydration and blood sugar crash and I'm so proud of him ❤️
The vet on Saturday basically tried to tell me that he needed to be hospitalized or euthanized. Instead I took him home and fed him urgent care food every hour and gave him his meds at the appropriate times and he is turning around! This little guy is a fighter 💪💪💪

Smol void 🤏 Best Sisters 🖤🖤 (surprise at the end!)
These are our 8-month old "twins," Sombra and Shrimpina! I didn't know how I could ever heal when we lost our first void son, Shadow, suddenly at age 11 last October. Now, almost a year later, I don't know how I could possibly live without these two princesses!
Everyone (even their vets!) ask how we can tell them apart. But it's super easy! They're each so beautiful and special in their own amazing way! 🖤

Lil' bit of white fluff 🤍 Shoutout Baby Kitty (who’s not a Baby Kitty anymore) as she turned 4 today
She’s so dark in the last one (taken today) the flash triggered
First image was November 9th, 2022, the day we got her
Edit: Her name is literally Baby Kitty still, I guess the second mention of that shouldn’t be a proper noun 😂

Sleepy Void When she covers her face with her paws
Is the moment I die. Of unbearable cuteness. Every time.
She does this when sleeping and when stretching.

Smol void 🤏 Cat distribution?
This little lady has been hanging around my apartment for the last week or so. My husband and I decided to get her some food to put out. Once I showed her the food bowl, she ran straight over and ate next to me. Now she waits for me every night for food. I’ve even gotten her to eat in an open crate on the porch. Tonight, I’m going to attempt to bring her inside and see if she wants to be part of the family.
Meet: Honey 🖤

The void screams back My void was personally victimized by bday decor
My girlfriend and I have a tradition of decorating the apartment for each other’s birthdays, and in recent years we’ve started doing silly themes. This year I decided my girlfriend’s theme would be horses. One year she did Love Island for me, another year it was sharks, and horses felt like a funny choice for this year.
The night before her birthday I’m in the living room blowing up horse balloons, putting up horse banners, etc. Two of our four cats are in the bedroom with my girlfriend, and we eventually put all the cats in there for the night because our youngest had made it her life’s mission to remove the horse banner from the wall. I go to bed without thinking much of it, but Lulu starts waking us up throughout the night meowing. I get up thinking she probably wants out because cats hate closed doors, but she refuses to leave the bedroom and is just pacing around. Eventually she comes and lays under the covers, which is very unusual because she is NOT a cuddly cat, and stays there all night.
The next morning she still refuses to come out from under the covers. She keeps peeking her head out and sniffing really intensely, and her heart is beating super fast. Lulu has also been our most complex cat. She got very sick with FIP when she was about a year old, but thankfully we caught it quickly and were able to start treatment right away. She recovered, but because of that she’s always been the cat we worry about the most. If she acts even slightly weird, our first thought is obviously that something is wrong with her.
We lay down with her for a few minutes and she calms down, so we get up and start the birthday festivities. We leave to pick up lunch and come back hoping she’s gotten over whatever is bothering her. I can’t find her anywhere. Not under the bed, not in her normal hiding spots. I finally find her huddled behind the toilet, absolutely terrified.
At this point I’m thinking she seems completely fine otherwise, she just refuses to leave the bedroom/bathroom. And then I start to suspect the horse balloons might be the problem.
We take down the six horse balloons and hide them before leaving for the rest of the birthday activities. When we come back, Lulu is completely back to normal. Walking around the apartment, harassing the other cats, doing all her usual Lulu things.
So yes. After all of that, the culprit was in fact the six horse balloons.
This cat survived FIP only to be psychologically destroyed by six inflatable horses. See pics for reference, 1st is Lulu 100% content after the demise of the horses, 2nd is those dreaded balloons. I guess I can’t fault her cause they are creepy but I thought they added to the goofiness of the theme😭😅

Smol void 🤏 Shrimpina 🦐
Shrimpina is our long girl! Our worm! Our graceful princess! 👑 🪱
She's a black-on-black tabby, which I didn't realize existed before we got her. She has big goofy eyes and a silly happy face and big adorable ears! She's amazingly graceful and agile and does flips and rolls in midair during play.
Shrimpina's like... the *happiest* kitty I've ever met. She loves to be cradled and touch the face of the human holding her. She chirps ALL the time. REALLY long chirps! She's our little party cat!
She's so long and tall! Her tail, body, and legs are all longer and thinner than her sister's are. Her favourite spot is the guest bedroom window, and she loves having her ears chewed on while chilling there listening to the birds.

🖤 Finally was chosen..
We found this sweetie in the alley by the bar. He is so sweet and was following me around. So, we brought him home. Of course, he’s on our patio until we get him into the vet. He’s getting fixed this week as well! We’ve named him Brad after the late owner of the bar. He passed earlier this summer. 🖤

Abyss 🖤🖤🖤 My boy.
He's 2. He likes fetch and catch. The huge glow in the dark bells were worn very early on after adopting this guy because was creeping up on my much older dude and it wasn't cool.
