Stomach issues for my boy
Hi! My 14 month Berner is going on 5 days of soft stool/ diarrhea. he’s been on chicken and rice the last few days and his stool has transitioned to bright yellow mush, with occasional small bouts of complete liquid diarrhea. The only reason I haven’t taken him yet/still deciding is because he is acting completely normal, scarfing down food and water and has the same energy level as normal.

My doggies cannot handle chicken. So chicken & rice never worked for me neither. When their stomachs do get upset i make congee- if you’re not familiar it’s basically rice slow cooked with lots of water so it’s really easy on their digestion!
I’ll also add in some pumpkin, eggs & a pro gut powder

Bummer, sometimes having it come back with something is preferable to the tummy guessing game.
I usually dry them out for a day if their potty is extra sickly. Then give many small meals of steamed ground turkey, pumpkin, & congee to ensure hydration. If you gave a rice cooker, it's super easy to dump it all in there and out it on the congee setting.

Our Berner had similar problems- steamed Pumpkin! Just cook and add to her normal food, or I make a big pot and freeze pumpkin in ice trays and give it as a treat.
When her tummy is upset- lean ground beef cooked in a bit of water, cooked rice and steamed pumpkin.
Our vet also suggested 1/2 teaspoon of psyllium husk helps with a loose tummy- just mix with yogurt or pumpkin. I freeze that too and give it as a treat every now and then. She has not had any tummy issues in forever.

Pumpkin purée and rice helped our boy!! He can’t have any chicken!
Edited to add: I don’t mean the spiced up thanksgiving style pumpkin purée! Just plain old nothing added pumpkin purée

Another recommendation for plain pumpkin puree. Works wonders for my girl when her stomach's upset

No food for a day then canned 100% pure pumpkin and I feed Bernie’s perfect poop which has probiotics in it that seems to help keep their digestive track more regular. I’ve also had really good luck with Nutrisource dog food. They don’t poop as much and it stays very firm.

No chicken! Burners are notoriously known for chicken allergies. Mine as well. We get her the Sam’s club salmon dog food as it’s the only one I could find without ANY chicken byproducts. Check the labels of the bags. Even if it says beef, it may still have chicken in the ingredients 🩷

I did make a post the other day about it - but after trying different food, steamed plain rice and ground beef /ground turkey and rice , psillium , probiotics and r (likely I’m forgetting other failed attempts ) Bernie’s perfect poop helped my boy immensely. We didn’t even finish the small bag, and he’s been better ever since. Many say it helped their dog as well.
I hope you find what works and that your buddy feels better soon !!

We had similar issues when ours was a puppy, vets couldn't work out the issue. Eventually we started feeding him grain free kibble, turkey, 40% protein. It stopped almost imediately.

My boy is nearly 3 in November. He can't tolerate chicken. I would suggest cutting out the chicken for awhile and see how you get on
