"Phulbari coal is one of the best-quality coals in the world. If we can extract this coal to meet the country's energy needs, then it will certainly be good for the country and save foreign currency," he told parliament in reply to a question from Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker for a reserved women's seat, Sabikun Nahar.

This project is the most controversial open pit mining in Bangladesh. It will displace 200,000 people and will cause heavy water damage. Most Bangladesh power plant runs on heavy diesel, furnace oil and gas. It is better to keep that place untouched. If , government wants more dollar they have to fix our broken ports and investment system.
