Cherry-picking Islam: the unofficial national religion of Bangladesh
I've been thinking about this for a while and wanted to get other people's take.
It feels like a lot of people around me practice Islam like a menu — picking the parts that are convenient or socially rewarding, and skipping the parts that actually cost something.
Zakat is one of the five pillars, arguably one of the most socially important ones since it's literally about redistributing wealth to the poor. But how many people you know actually calculate and pay it properly every year? Meanwhile, Hajj and Umrah — which cost far more money — are treated as status symbols. People save for years to go, post about it, get called "Hajji" with pride. Why is the pillar that helps other people the one that gets quietly skipped, while the one that's mostly personal (and visible) gets prioritized?
Same thing with how women are treated. Islam is often described as giving women rights and dignity — inheritance, consent in marriage, protection. But in practice, a lot of that gets translated into control: don't go out, don't talk to boys, dress this way, stay inside "for your safety." The "protection" framing ends up being used to restrict rather than actually protect.
It feels like for a lot of older and middle-aged people especially, religion has become more of a social formality — something you perform, something that gives you authority to control others (especially women), rather than something that shapes how you treat people or spend your money.
Curious if others feel the same way or if I'm missing context. Not trying to say nobody's sincere — I know plenty of people who really do live by their values — but the gap between "what's preached" and "what's practiced" feels huge and rarely gets talked about openly.
Not just old and middle aged, I see almost all men, including non Muslim men and patriarchal women doing this. If you say this they’ll somehow make it blasphemy. They’re extremely manipulative. I hardly know any Bangladeshi super religious person who aren’t borderline sociopathic evil.
When I try to make people get this "cherry-picking" concept, every time they label me as a "moderate." I mean if you really believe Islam is the code of life, you should really learn what that code is. What they dream of and call a caliphate is nothing but a delusional dream, both logically and politically. The problem is we are way beyond the point of making people realize these things. People who read some history books and get the current image of global politics will surely understand the fact I am talking about.
Long story short: low IQ, greed and a disgusting taste for oppression.
Either these people are too dumb to understand their hypocrisy, or they simply are too used to taking advantage of others and oppressing others.
It's a cycle of suffering. Your local village man, who hasn't passed high school, only believes that he should have more children and that his wife is his property. He also believes those are part of Islam. He then goes on to have 10 children, the boys turning into illiterate younger version of the villagers and the girls succumbing to the same fate as their mother, unable to do anything but accept their oppression as the norm.
Call it eugenics, but some people shouldn't be allowed to have children. And call it forced nationalism, but the educated, literate people should have more children than the replacement rate.
Otherwise the illiterate will grow in numbers while pushing their bigoted, terrible view on the masses.
Long story short: low IQ, greed and a disgusting taste for oppression
This is simply generalizing and misunderstanding the issue at hand. Islam can be understood in its true form through education. Education goes beyond religion to teach basic mathematics, critical thinking, and social skills. Bangladeshi people, simply, do not have these skills in a large enough majority to enact any change.
The villages you use in your example are massively uneducated and unsupported by the federal government. What recourse do they have to learn and better their lives? The cycles of abuse, illiteracy, and conservatism continue until there is knowledge/experience that can be passed down that proves otherwise.
Your local village man, who hasn't passed high school, only believes that he should have more children and that his wife is his property. He also believes those are part of Islam
Your local village man is uneducated, as you say, and exists with his beliefs that he thinks are rooted in Islam. Who taught him these beliefs? His predecessors: father, uncle, grandfather, etc. who all lived the same lives uninterrupted away from the grasp of the Bangladeshi government. There has been no changes to the cycle therefore the cycle continues. This does not imply low IQ rather that the standards are not present formally allowing the citizens to better themselves.
Science has proven that there are geniuses statistically speaking all over the world who do not get a fraction of the recognition that learned scholars do due to lack of opportunity, infrastructure, or education. Generalizing mass populations as “low IQ” is dangerous when the population has had 0 opportunity for advancement. Similar arguments were used against minorities in America, England, France, etc. Do some research.
Call it eugenics, but some people shouldn't be allowed to have children
I will, because it is eugenics. It’s a slippery slope to make decisions on who is allowed to reproduce. By your limited understanding of anthropology along with limitations in education in reference to minorities who have no set standard of living I would strongly suggest you read into history of 1st world countries. These circumstances are not new and the reason they are not being taken care of properly is because the government does not see benefit in moving funds away from Dhaka and educating people who will do as they’re told regardless.
Otherwise the illiterate will grow in numbers while pushing their bigoted, terrible view on the masses
Works both ways. Villagers pumping out babies to be ignorant and taken advantage of while being told they’re the problem and then the city dwellers will continue to hoard all the wealth only redistributing amongst themselves ignoring infrastructure thinking they’re not part of the problem.
The country is split and has no identity. More than 50% alive in Bangladesh right now can’t read. How is this not more spoken about? Constantly crying for NGOs to pump money into our economy like we’re beggars is pathetic. I have seen multiple government changes and yet education is almost always ignored. Bangladeshi people are inherently uneducated and the top 1% use that to their advantage. Simple.
The solution to this isn’t picking and choosing who has children. It is education, both secular and religious, so the children learn actual Islam that is not impacted by culture.
We have been trying that for decades. Free education, consistently notifying people via NGOs, awareness campaign and so on.
Unfortunately at some point you have to agree, some people lack the basic intelligence to understand the consequences of their actions. And in those cases, it is better to not let them continue their bigoted views and illiteracy than hoping something will magically change.
Completely disagree. First of all, who are you to determine who’s views are acceptable and who should be allowed to reproduce or not. I’m sure others disagree with you and think you also shouldn’t reproduce; so that “solution” is a non starter.
Culture takes time to change. Also I’m not sure what you are referring to by NGO campaigns etc.; have there been campaigns specifically about Islam and clarifying common misconceptions people have about Islam? If not, what has actually been done to address the problem so far?
Oh. My bad, I only noticed the education part. It is quite true that we haven't had dedicated campaigns run by proper Islamic scholars to show what Islam truly represents and what it doesn't.
Unfortunately, the fact that many of the madrasas currently abuse children, both through beatings and via sexual violence, alongside the fact that many so called "scholars" tend to spout extremist rhetoric online and offline doesn't help.
However, I will stand on the point that a person who can't understand the fact that beating women, having child marriages, spouting extremist viewpoints etc are wrong has no reason to continue their lineage. If they are simply incapable of deciding between what is good and evil, then there's no point investing resources behind them.
what does islam truly represent? i’d love to hear.
honestly im dying to establish your whole "dumb people shouldn’t continue their lineage" into a reality, because that would mean people like you won’t be born.
so the local illiterate man who decided to have 10 kids and consider his wife as property. where did this dude get his beliefs from? and you honestly believe he decided to have 10 children? i think he just raped his wife, and the rest is history.
i just don't get this whole idea that people are not following the system properly, hence there are distortions, and that people are too dumb, people are hypocrites blah blah. i don't see the point of the whole dancing around the issue when the religion is literally based on inequality, violence, and oppression. it’s not just that people chose to subjugate their wives, it’s a belief that was imposed, a learned behavior.
and by your eugenics theory, the people who have countless children and wives should be treated as less than human. well, the man who invented the religion had lots of children and wives (including a wife who was a child).
what would you say about him? according to history, he wasn’t able to read or write, so he was illiterate too.
Having "10 kids and treating wives as property" is found in every societies that are not industrialized/highly rural and transcends religious boundaries.
What?? These aspects are for countries that are poor with low levels of education, not something tied specifically to religion. Also there are many Muslim countries with very low fertility rates.
"The irony of typing out an entire essay about 'low IQ' while presenting a completely fabricated, out-of-touch stereotype as 'fact.' Having a Wi-Fi connection and a dictionary doesn't mean you know how the real world works."
Visiting a country as a tourist and living there and seeing the struggles of day to day life as an immigrant are two very different things. And someone well off enough to visit half all these countries shitying on graamer lok is the height of disgusting elitism (and probably a few other words I can't think of rn). It's like Brits claiming they brought civilization and trains to the countries they colonized
Putting your own statement in quotes as if you said something profound will not magically make what you said valid lol.
"Out-of-touch stereotype", you say? Misguided sympathy like yours is the reason why we can never improve the state of our nation.
I have travelled around the country. Visited villages. Saw for myself.
Child marriage statistics, domestic violence statistics, madrasa rape statistics all point towards what I said. Those statistics are vastly dominated by people from the rural areas or slums.
But hey, keep preaching. Maybe one day when you are faced with violence from those people, your holier-than-thou attitude will save you.
Unfortunately calling me elitist doesn't make my points invalid. I never said those who are poor shouldn't have children. I specifically said people who can't differentiate between right or wrong and does not have the intelligence to understand the consequences of their actions shouldn't have children.
My father created what he has now from nothing through honest work and business. I then made my own wealth through my skills and hard work.
Just because I can see how a portion of people disproportionately cause the country to plummet deeper into the extremist rabbithole doesn't mean that I am an "elitist".
Unfortunately calling me elitist doesn't make my points invalid.
Kinda does bro.
I specifically said people who can't differentiate between right or wrong
And who decides what's right or wrong? You?Who appointed you ceo of morality? What makes your take more valid than theirs?
and does not have the intelligence to understand the consequences of their actions shouldn't have children.
It is the height of elitism and classism and "bangu-liberal- performative-rich-kid-ism"( for lack of a better word) to think people in villages don't have intelligence or are dumb somehow and shouldn't rather children.
Even if I concede to your first point which I don't, you cant enforce not having kids on people who are dumb lol- that's like some next level authorititarianism shit
My father created what he has now from nothing through honest work and business
Cool. I then made my own wealth through my skills and hard work.
Cool story bro. So is "self made rich man" the criteria now by which we are judging whether someone is intelligent and worthy enough to have kids now? Bet I can find dozens of super rich conservative people in a place like Gulshan alone who would disagree with you on a fundamental level.
Just because I can see how a portion of people disproportionately cause the country to plummet deeper into the extremist rabbithole doesn't mean that I am an "elitist".
Kinda does. I will admit Bangladesh is becoming more and more conservative these days which I am a bit iffy on but if we let people in this sub had their way we would turn the entire country into shahabag with pride parades and rainbow flags and shit. We shouldn't be Afghanistan, but I don't think we should be a fucking liberal Utopia either
well hadith isn't the most authentic source, imo it holds the power to just explain the rites and rituals already ordered in the Quran. but our mainstream salafi islam only brings up hadiths to restrict things that are not restricted in the Quran, which are most of the time backed by the most illogical reasoning
Can you tell me which hadith or hadiths tells us how to pray? There is a chapter called Salat in Bukhari, I already read and it barely tells us how to pray.
You also can't pray with Hadith. Also, you can't follow Hadith as, Hadith are written by human beings way later. They have flaws and aren't pure as Quran. If you believe human beings didn't make mistake writing them, be my guest.
Of course, because how we pray Salat didn't come from Hadith. It was passed to us generation by generation. Islam tests us about our iman. Quran doesn't even tells us how many times a day we have to pray exactly but it gives us an idea.
Haath bada je hoi namaz er time e, eitai varies from different people. Eigula asche koi theke? Shob kichu ghar terami koire to ar hoi na. Sometimes you need to understand, we follow some of the practices that came from our ancestors.
Well since you talked about cherry picking 🍒
I would want to mention things which are Islamically ok but the Morden society is not following it examples :
Islam gives right to man to have sex with female slaves/Bond women (bond women doesn’t have any consent when their master wants to have sex)i don’t see Morden society doing that. Quran 33:50
Islam has no problem with marrying underaged girls as indicated in verse such as 65:4 (who have not menstruated mentioned) i don’t see Morden society in bd doing that .
Modern society lets the girls have freedom to go outside to hangout with friends but islam always wants a Mahram with her when she is outside as indicated in hadith. (Sahih muslim 1339b) book15 Hadith 471)
Modern society has no problem with women being in leadership position and does see women having intelligence just like man but islam or prophet Muhammad does not see that as indicated in these hadiths (Sunan an-nasai 5388 book 49,hadith10 where no society will prosper who entrust women in a leadership position mentioned by prophet)
Women is more deficient in intelligence and religion than man mentioned by prophet Muhammad. In Hadith (shahih al bukhari 304 book 6,Hadith 9)
Child marriage is permitted by all 4 schools of islamic jurisprudence (hanafi, maliki, shafi, hanbali)
Morden society is outgrowing this stuff which is a good thing.
Morden society does have hatred towards others who are not muslims but they don’t see them as worst of all “beings”that Quran sees them as mentioned in (98:6)
Morden society does not punish sex outside marriage or adultery or free thought of questioning islam in such extremes that quran goes to.
Like quran prescribes 100lashes for premarital sex, Stonning to DEATH for adultery and DEATH PENALTY FOR LEAVING ISLAM (all of this is shariah law) mordern society has outgrown this barbaric stuff.
In Morden society disobedient wife’s are treated differently than what the quran says Quran even permits beating wife in the last step . As mentioned 3 step process of treating disobedient (4:34) if you see the arabic wording daraba is mentioned which means beat.
Morden society has outgrown quranic science as well one example would be Universe was made in “6 days” and it took longer for Allah to create earth than the whole universe earth took total “4days”and rest of the universe in 2days so total 6days as mentioned in verses such as (7:54) and (41:9and10)
Another mention is sun prostrating under Allah’s throne mentioned in Hadith such as(shahih al-bukhari 3199, book59,Hadith 10)
I mentioned all this because you think that society is lagging behind islam but this evidence shows societies are outgrowing not only islam but religions . And don’t spread hatred in the comments because i MENTIONED ALL THE THINGS THAT ARE WRITTEN IN ISLAMIC SCRIPTURES SO ITS THE SCRIPTURES PROBLEM NOT MINE.I DIDNT SAY A SINGLE THING OF MY OWN I HAVE MENTIONED ALL THE SOURCES.
Nonsensical comment. Islam already has fixed rulings for this, and none of the things you mentioned are mandatory or hold society back.
Slavery was never mandatory or something placed upon Muslims for all time, so why would it still have to be practised? Slavery wasn't even common under the Muslim Nawabs of Bengal either also, no verse or hadith says consent is not needed or says that slaves can simply be abused. The hadith tell Muslims to feed and clothe slaves as they feed and clothe themselves and not burden them beyond what they can bear [Sahih al-Bukhari 30; Sahih Muslim 1661a]. The Qur’an also says to treat those under your authority kindly, encourages freeing slaves, allows them to make contracts for their freedom, and forbids forcing slave women into prostitution [Qur’an 4:36; Qur’an 24:33; Qur’an 90:13].
That verse was about divorce and what the ʿiddah period surrounding it is. It isn't even telling you to marry young girls.
The hadith was about travelling long distances not that women can't go out the limit varies, with one narration mentioning three days [Sahih al-Bukhari 1086] Another hadith says that a woman from al-Hira, a city in Iraq, would travel to the Kaaba fearing nothing but Allah [Sahih al-Bukhari 3595]. So some views make the issue about safety rather than simply a fixed number of days.
Why ignore the context? It was about the daughter of Khosrow getting the throne when the Prophet Muhammad said that. The hadith itself specifically says that the Persians had made the daughter of Khosrow their ruler [Sahih al-Bukhari 7099]. It also turned out to be true, as her rule collapsed and she was later killed notice that the hadith itself didn't even use the word “haram.”
The hadith didn't simply compare men to women without explaining what it meant. The reasons were stated in the hadith: women were not obligated to pray or fast during their periods, and the “deficiency in intelligence” was connected to their testimony [Sahih al-Bukhari 304]. In the Qur’an, the rule involving one man and two women is specifically mentioned in the context of recording financial debts, where an extra woman is present so that if one forgets, the other can reminds her [Qur’an 2:282].
Where does Islam say that you have to marry early or define one clear numerical age? That varies according to circumstances, culture and norms. The Qur’an itself uses the concept of reaching “marriageable age” rather than giving one universal numerical age [Qur’an 4:6].
Also, how is normalising adultery and sex outside marriage somehow good? We can see the problems associated with adultery and hook-up culture and the hudud punishment is deliberately difficult to establish through accusation because the Qur’an requires four witnesses; if someone accuses a chaste person and cannot produce four witnesses, the accuser is punished instead [Qur’an 24:2; Qur’an 24:4].
The so-called “beating” is also heavily restricted. The Prophet ﷺ said that it must not be severe [Sahih Muslim 1218a], and he said not to strike a wife in the face [Sunan Abi Dawud 2142]. Ibn ʿAbbas, one of the Sahaba and an early authority on Qur’anic interpretation, explained the non-severe striking as being with a siwak or something similar [Tafsir al-Tabari, commentary on Qur’an 4:34, report of ʿAtaʾ from Ibn ʿAbbas] and ʿA’ishah reported that the Prophet ﷺ himself never struck a woman or servant with his hand [Sahih Muslim 2328a]. So why ignore those parts?
None of this automatically “keeps people behind.” How exactly does believing in the six days of creation keep people behind? The Qur’an says that Allah created the heavens and the earth in six days [Qur’an 7:54]. You wouldn't even be able to directly disprove the event simply by saying we weren't there or couldn't personally observe it.

Okay you are not trying to see the problems as it is you are just defending it and finding answers to rationalise the things okay
1)Quran does not abolish slavery and neither says it was placed upon muslims for “certain period “ so it’s just your assumption. Saudi Arabia was among the last country to abolish slavery just in 1962. Some salafi scholars even argued with a the government that Allah permits slavery why should the need to abolish it.
Hadith about prophet Muhammad buying slaves (shahih muslim 1602)
I think you are not aware of how much brutality slaves have to go through in the Arabic slave trade .
Since we are talking about slaves let’s check a Hadith where prophet got caught having sex with a slave girl and his wives didn’t like that then Quran came to rescue his promiscuous sex life.
(Sunan an-Nasa’i 3959)
2)are you dumb? The verse indicating that it was okay with muslims to marry or divorce pre pubescent girls so child marriage is allowed in islam
Prophet muhammad marrying 6year old having sex with her at 9 (shahih bukhari 5134)
I am saying it is perfectly okay in an islamic society to marry young girls just like the Quran doesnt say you to marry your cousin but in an islamic society it is perfectly okay to marry your first cousins. As it is a sunnah done by prophet yes your prophet married his “OWN ADOPTED SONS WIFE) and which is also his first cousin (bet you didn’t know that)
But today’s society could do better than 6th century islamic society.
And you don’t have to follow specific culture and their noms wasn’t it norm to men having beard in past ?? Why it is a sunnah then??? Because prophets actions and words are timeless according to fundamental islam your prophet literally married a 6 year old that’s a Hadith right there. And many Islamic societies did follow that.
3)see whenever you see “problematic” hadiths you search for context but than everything has to be contextual but unfortunately your scholars say Quran is “timeless eternal word of god” and hadiths are the perfect examples of perfect man “timeless” so no context that’s why beards are sunnah, using meswak instead of tooth brush is sunnah it’s not that muhammad existed before razor and toothbrush .
So you say that the Hadith turned out to be true i will mention Hadith that turned out to be false as well
Prophet muhammad thinking the world would end after his generation but unfornately eternity has passed since then (the last hour) didn’t happen. (Sahih muslim 2953b)
Muhammad assuming the last hour will be during the Slave era which didn’t happen times have past since then (shahih al bukhari 50)
And now the question ASK YOUR SCHOLARS
IN AN ISLAMIC SOCIETY IS WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP POSITION IS ALLOWED? Or no i don’t think scholars take this Hadith “contextually” like you do the statement was his eternal wisdom my friend take it.
4) there is no comparison between man and women Man are clearly a “degree over”women in authority and responsibility it is clear
Quran 2:228 so in an islamic society a women working becoming financially responsible for herself is “not encouraged” because the quran clearly indicated who are responsible for women.the women has her own duty like satisfying her husbands “whenever” his husband calls and if she is unable somehow to engage with husband sexually then even the angels will curse her whole night ow not joking .hadith (shahih muslim 1436d)
And for all the work husbands are doing for their wife there is a huge present for them in heaven “FULL BREASTED WOMEN AND WINE”
I can’t comprehend creator of the universe luring men with breasts 🤣 it’s literally mentioned in the quran 78:33 -34
5) i don’t think we need 4 witness in this day and age because we got something called camera if hudud punishments are allowed in Morden society and a zina video is shown to the muslim ruler i think that should be enough as an evidence rather than four witnesses who needs witnesses if the actual video like cc tv camera footage can be given 🤣 hudud punishments are tribal brutality stoning to death, cutting hands for stealing,100lashes for zina Morden society is better of this bullshit.
6) you SAID PROPHET NEVER STRUCK “ANYONE “ what if i just show you a hadith where prophet struck aisha in chest and it also caused pain?? Ow no literally see do your research before defending islam it is a heretical religion my friend
Here is the evidence: Sunan an-Nasa'i 3964
See you said he never struck anyone i showed that he did see???? who’s ignoring who????
Why “ignore” this hadith my friend???? See even hadith contradicts hadith 🤣
There is literally so many evidence of women getting beaten by their husbands under quranic society most important one husbands beating his wife so bad that the skin got greener than her clothes said by aisha why ignore this issues my friend??(shahih al bukhari 5825)
Okay the last point it’s not even worth it to touch on that if you literally think it’s (okay) to beleive in universe was made in 6days with trillions of galaxies ow wait the earth took 4days to build and those trillions of galaxies 2days you need a psychotherapy this is very unscientific unnatural this beleive is not even a beleive anymore it is delusion if you put this beleive in the youth then the country will never prosper scientifically and technologically.
You said there is no way to prove that universe wasn’t made in 6days yes just like you can’t “disprove” that a gay guy will get gay husband in paradise or a pious women will have an orgy in jannah.
Slavery was never fardh; it was optional, which is why in Islamic history it varied greatly. You completely ignored the rules of manumitting slaves in the Qur’an and Hadith, and even slaves creating a contract to be freed. Islam doesn’t encourage slavery, neither did the Prophet. The hadith you gave doesn’t say that. Islam did regulate it, as only war captives could be enslaved and their treatment had to be proper, but it was always optional.
Islam already permitted having sex with slaves. It was already a thing in Abrahamic faiths. The issue here was that Aisha and Hafsa didn’t like it. What point are you even making?
Where did the Prophet encourage or promote it for you to say it is a Sunnah we are encouraged to do? Your point makes no sense. He married women of various ages. Would it also be Sunnah to marry women at 40, 32, etc.? Do you even know what Sunnah is and what we are encouraged to follow from his teachings? Where did he say you should marry at a certain age or at 9? Nowhere.
The verse deals with divorce, not marriage, and was about iddah based on periods. You know not all women can menstruate or some can have delayed periods. It is not telling you to marry, or that it is allowed to marry, at a certain age.
Also, Zaynab was already divorced when she married the Prophet Muhammad and was even happy about the marriage. It is not even illegal anywhere to marry your adopted son’s ex-wife. Also, in Islam, your daughter-in-law is a mahram even if she is divorced or widowed, while adopted children are not seen as your biological children because they have their own lineage.
Also, the same concept exists for men. They cannot neglect their wives.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, “O `Abdullah! Have I not been informed that you fast all day and stand in prayer all night?” I said, “Yes, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!” He said, “Do not do that! Observe the fast sometimes and also leave the fast at other times; stand up for prayer at night and also sleep at night. Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you, and your wife has a right over you.”
Sahih Bukhari 5199.
No, it actually says about houris being splendid companions, not “full-breasted.”
Corpus.quran. com /wordbyword.jsp?chapter=78&verse=33#(78:33:1)
Look at the direct translation of the word.
Hudud is only through witnesses. CCTV would come under ta’zir punishment, which can vary.
Aisha herself said he didn’t beat any women. And no, this hadith says he nudged or pushed her, which caused her pain. It doesn’t say he beat her. Why lie?
So? The ruling is clear in the hadith. It cannot be severe or leave a mark, you cannot hit the face, and it should be done with something like a miswak. Why are you ignoring the actual ruling? And where did the hadith say the man was allowed to leave green marks on his wife?
You made no sense here. The point is, even if it were not true, how does that hold you back from advancing? And it is not something you can prove or disprove either.
You can’t base a ruling or issue without knowing what it means and the ruling behind it. Can you even read English? Where does it say the slave era is when Judgment Day will happen? Also, no, these are signs that will happen before the Day of Judgment, not that they will all happen at the same time.
And no, the Qur’an and Hadith say no one besides Allah knows when it will happen. The hadith doesn’t even say Judgment Day will happen after his generation. Why are you adding things to the hadith? The hadith said the hour will come when you pass away.
Scholars vary. What kind of argument is that? The hadith didn’t even say it was haram, and it clearly was about the daughter of Khosrow.
Why are you quoting random verses? The verse was clearly about divorce. What are you even doing? It was about responsibility it even says the have similar rights before that
u/Darkdays5678 okay so you dont beleive me right? so you dont think islam allows child marriage right? but you do beleive in what scholars say right? you do beleive in "rulings"? right? or no? this is the opinion about child marriage on 4 ISLAMIC MAIN SCHOOLS AND ONE SHIA MAIN SCHOOL YES I WANT YOUR APOLOGY IN THIS ONE FOR NOT KNOWING ISLAM AND SCHOLARS RULING PROPERLY HERE.
No I said that verse isnt about child marriage or orders it in the hadith its clear its allowed but its not encouraged or promoted or that you have to marry at a certain age you can stop such marriages to since they arent encouraged in islam and introduce a minimum age which several muslim nations have done.
u/Darkdays5678 Thank you bro for just accepting your own scholars ruling a religion that sanctions a legal marriage of a women from birth i dont want to be a part of it and thank you for back and forth it was amazing. see you knew it was allowed but you still wanted to debate as if you didnt knew this .
see but your stupidity did continue in the comment little bit , YOUR SCHOLARS STUDIED ARABIC THEY WENT TO READ THE QURAN AND GAVE RULINGS ACCORDING TO QURAN AND now you say "it is not encouraged or promoted " it will be absolutely ok and encouraged if this was an islamic caliphate the world does not move like that, morden society has outgrown this quranic ruling its discouragement comes from common sense of people. its just funny how you mentioned that they introduce a minimum age yes the shia jafari madhab actually stated a minimum age for a husband to have "SEX" with her wife which is "8 YEARS AND 8 MONTHS" do you understand?? so thats why i am saying child marriage is an islamic problem which the morden society has outgrown you cannot say it is not an islamic problem the quran sanctions it the scholar gave their opinion now you cannot come up with it is not encouraged bullshit talks , just accept the reality as it is and you should be thankful that morden society has outgrown this islamic ruling. THANK YOU.
You gave a ayah which didnt talk about marriage the ruling as a whole isnt in the quran but the hadith and interpretation of scholars no hadith says you can marry from the cradle either thats just interpretation of scholars
And in islam you cab stop this practice altogether since its not mandatory and encouraged either
wahhh now he doesnt value scholars like that man just jumping and tip toeing whatever he finds this is sad my bro atleast back your scholars man they know what islam is you and i dont know anything about islam THEY KNOW WE DONT SO ATLEAST UNDERSTAND THAT u/Darkdays5678 i know man im sorry its a hard religion to defend i know . first go to quran if not then hadith if not then scholars opinion and if that also fails just say thats their opinion and move on to whatever emotion we feel like and attach islam to it . <3 bro bye bye gotta sleep. it was great.
Scholars have various views this is why there are many school of thoughts and why interpretation varies and this is why I said the hadith dudnt say marriage at cradle is allowed but scholars did but my point was islam doesn't say you should marry at these ages either
Whatever that is the content that is written is full of rubbish monkey applying hudud punishment if you have common sense you will also laugh or chuckle at it.
If my comment is nonsensical than this hadith is also nonsensical my friend
Or maybe not you should eat ajwa dates and then drink poison let’s see what happens 🤔
What about it? The hadith says it protects you against magic and the loisin part has veen priven as it does have protective benefits against certain types of posion
u/Darkdays5678 ma man magic is matter of beleive .im not saying that the practical part the poison .
can ajwa date protect you from poison it just says poison thats it there is no specific poison poison in general.
if you eat ajwa date in the morning will that protect you from a modern day poison?? just be realistic i just want your common sense to work here dont become a defender of islam just think normally allah wont be angry at you if you use common sense i promise.
just dont try this thats what i am saying and i bet no scholars of islam or defenders of islam will try actually try to prove this hadith i promise that.
see these are the types of hadiths that are hidden from typical muslims.
I gave a link that does show healing and prrotective benefits from a medical essay also how are they hidden they are freely available and talked about in fiqh books to?
Also tge hadith didnt define what poison or the type
exactly that leaves the matter open what poison is not mentioned just accept the reality as it is it is absolutely dangerous to take prophet muhammad,s advice here ajwa date doesnt protect you from poison nor from magic (if you beleive that) at first place. but the poison one commn man
a person will die if he thinks ajwa date is gonna protect him from a poison like arsenic and YOU KNOW IT TOO. AJWA DATE CAN HAVE ALL THE HEALING PROPERTY BUT EVENTUALLY YOU WILL NOT BE PROTECTED YOU WILL DIE.
i cant beleive you still argued with me on this one this is silly
Where dud he say consume poison or that it protects you from all forms of it? Ajwa dates have been proven to have healing properties did you read the link?
im sorry did the hadith say that it "DOESNT PROTECT FROM ALL FORMS OF POISON" ??????? IT JUST SAYS IN THE ARABIC "POISON".
SO JUST BY WHAT PROPHET MUHAMMAD SAID HERE
A YES OR NO QUESTION
IF I EAT ARSENIC AT EVENING AFTER EATING AJWA DATES IN MORNING WILL I SURVIVE?? IF THE ANSWER IS NO THEN PROPHET IS WRONG AND HE CAN BE WRONG HE IS AN IMPERFECT HUMAN BEING BUT ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE TAKES HIM TO SOME SUPERHUMAN LEVEL AND THATS WHY GUYS LIKE YOU HAVE TO JUST DEFEND HIM HOT HEADED DONT WORRY DONT BE ANXIOUS ITS FINE THERE IS NO HEAVEN AND HELL LIVE LIFE LOVE LIFE AND WHEN YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO UNDERSTAND RELIGION AS A WHOLE YOU WILL CREATE MEANING FOR YOURSELF I KNOW ITS HARD FOR PEOPLE TO LEAVE RELIGION THEY WILL FEEL MEANINGLESS LOSS OF IDENTITY ETC
BY THE WAY A BAD NEWS FOR YOU WHATEVER YOU DO YOU CANT ESCAPE HELL FIRE YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE A GOOD MUSLIM AND DIE YOU WILL BE IN A CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS HELLFIRE IF YOU ARE A GOOD CHRISTIAN YOU WILL BE IN ISLAMIC HELLFIRE SO THERE,S NO WAY OUT A BELEIVE BATTLE WHAT I CALL IT A BIG DELUSION <3
ANYWAY BRO I GENUINELY APPRECIATE YOU <3 I PROMISE
But the hadith didnt say all types of poison it just said poison in general its not specified clearly but the general view is correct as it does havehealing properties also it diesn't say it can cure you from poison rather help
I mean compare Bangladesh to India, a Hindu nation. Our conservative patriarchal culture is identical. Even they say we don't caste system because we are Muslim, but go to an average mosque, a rickshawala would not standing in the same place as middle class person.
this is nothing new and has been the case for thousands of years. people have always molded their religious beliefs with their environment and culture. in the 17th century islamic gunpowder empires, day to day islamic practice looked different in the ottoman, safavid and mughal empires.
not to mention the great powers of europe and muslim world all took part in the trans-atlantic slave trade, practiced slavery and exposed slaves to brutal conditions in plantations despite both the bible and quran stating to treat slaves well. european empires went one step durther and would hand out a heavily edited version of the bible to slaves that removed all the stuff about freedom and equality.
another one is that religious interpretations differ from one sect to another. the hanafi school of islam used to drink wine despite it being forbidden in islam. thats because the quran used the word "Khamr" for alcohol and to them "khamr" meant fermented grape wine. they argued that alcohol wasnt forbidden but the intoxications. so they drank some alcohol in small doses or diluted with water. this practice died out by 13th century.
the different intepretations of holy scripture also lead to many branches who all believe in different intepretations of the same source material. for islam its sunni, shia, ibadi, alevi etc. for christians its catholic, orthodox, protestant. for buddhism its theravada, mahayana, tibetan and so on.
another thing i wanna point out is most of the religions advocate for peace and yet grown ass adults throw a tantrum and start committing atrocities the moment someone does something thats either forbidden in their religion or they feel insulted by their words or actions.
how many times have you seen huzurs in our country harrassing people for dating, eating during ramadan, women not covering themselves, or some other stupid shit.
Also the concept of modesty applies to women as the default/base, and only addresses modesty for men in response to the question 'What about the men?' .So many Haz Mahfeel that spends HORS about the Hizab and stuff only addressing women .But neger about how perverted Men are.In my 22 years old life I have never seen aHuzur spend the whole lecture about the Men and their Eyes that goes under the Females clothings .Its only dedicated to the Male .Also the Fascination of Young men abiut 4 wives while being unemployed and not really looking out for themselves .One of Islam hest advice is to do Business crrate your own wealth and be financially independent however there is no widespread discussion on that
Excellent point. People in this country do not care or want to know about Zakat. I'm talking about adults who have money.
I saw the older generation is so arrogant & stubborn about the obligation of Zakat. It is very important. They would always fight with me and start talking about other things when I said one must pay Zakat al Fitr, and one must calculate Zakat when one has accumulated the threshold level of wealth etc. Boy would they start fighting and say things like I already give (sadaqa) to people on the street etc so it's like zakat and that kind of stuff. Awful.
Even under this healthy discussion where people regardless of religion or whatever can, this is hypocrisy and bad, some madarched from fb decided to ruin it
And what it has to do with anything? Like I don't get you, like do you support people being munafiqun (hypocrites) the way you proudly say you're not gonna lynched and stuff, it seems like you're just a radical bustard who's using it like a social status, and too shameless to even hide, it.
"oh no who let the shibir from FB here"
No seriously you're more shameless then them, atleast they come with a justification
Also by your logic hindutvadi are just supercool people and Indian Muslim should covert to Hinduism if they want to get treated better atleast this what you're under every comment

People are extremely selfish and don't understand the core of what religion is trying to translate. A way of life that is supposed to be righteous and full of service to the community and for ones own soul. They also need to understand that religion was born within a society and during certain times and did not just magically appear from out of space. Best example is the pilgrimage. It was back in the day probably a life task. But nowadays it's a status symbol. It's extremely overcrowded and honestly really bad for the environment if every Muslim on this planet flies to Mekka. And it divides people into groups of who can afford it and who cannot. Plus people are often seeing it as an adventure than a spiritual journey... So it does more harm than doing good in our world today unfortunately.
It is not only Bangladesh. I have been to many other Muslim countries like in the Gulf, North Africa, Balkans. Each one has their own cherry picked versions and follow a different Islam.
One is dream (Hajj, Umrah) - ultimate wish to see kaba (house of god, way to reduce your sin. The other (zakat) responsible donation. Some people are cheap from mentality, or feels it's too much to pay and puts burden in their saving. I don't know how to describe them, but yeah, they are selective with choices. However, I will say most, if not majority of people do proper zakat. Specially lower class, middle class, and some rich.
Back to my point why hajj or Umrah is a priority bcz people grow and dream for it from early age. they wish to see and live that 15 days of good, peaceful life after years of hardship.
How women are treated is a social issue than any influence from Islam - right or wrong. Our hujurs were/are conservative. Our prev gen didn't had Internet or preacher who will teach them lateral translation of many Quran verses. Hujurs used to translate as they deem fit. sometimes they try to make optional things as compulsory from their conservative mindset. This is one reason and second is obviously that women does need protection specially, in countries like Bangladesh or how much crime rate we have here. I'm a man, I always feel scared for my mom whenever she goes out for baazar, shopping and all. bcz she goes alone. Can only imagine how much a brother or father fears.
This is one reason and second is obviously that women does need protection specially

Islam actually does sorta acknowledge the other anrahiamic religions somewhat afaik. Afaik a Muslim man can marry a chaste woman of the book. But jai hok , all that is besides the point.
Point is. A majority of abrahmaic religious schools and sects are kinda against it or at best are kinda "ehhhh I find it gross but you do you" (which is where I land) on it. Kinda makes you wonder if the act/concept itself is the problem. Inb4 homophobic bigot
see you automatically think there is something wrong with being shahbagi . you automatically think whatever you grew up with is the "right" things and ideas that oppose that view are the devils see thats just how childhood conditioning and human mind works maybe become more aware in life .

thats basically what islam is playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes such as FULL BREASTED WOMEN AND WINE IN PARADISE mentioned in quran 78:33-34
AKHON BOILEN NA ATAU "AJAIRA JINISH" why you hatin me for its your scripture.
thats basically what islam is playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes
See, I will never understand why your type of nasteks think it's ok to talk shit about something so personal and deeply valuable to someone like their religion, AND THEN wonder "waaait Amar kotha shune manush death threats ditese keno? Martese keno? Must be because Islam is a violent religion."
It's like Ami apnar baap ma 14 ghusti gaillano, opoman korbo, and then wonder you might want to beat me up
AKHON BOILEN NA ATAU "AJAIRA JINISH" why you hatin me for its your scripture
I think you are mistaking this for "atheist vs muslim" debate. I am not here to convert you or try to convince you to convert/revert or undo the generational trauma your parents/family did(making an assumption here but ehh).
I am here to ask why you think you can insult something so deeply personal to someone and then have the audacity to complain about how the peaceful ummah would make you rest in pieces.
How well do you think I would fare if I were to go into some bumfuck middle of nowhere redneck town in Arkansas and talk shit about Christianity and the Trinity and all that.
all love <3
If this was a sarcastic comment after spweing a bucket load of hate and meant to get under my skin, well you have sorta succeeded. Bravo! 👍
however i want to say religion is deeply personal is because it gives a certainty to your ego self thats the false self i have not insulted your real self the awareness behind the ego the real you i just hurt your ego thats it. i know this from my experience you can experience it to by meditating that you are not the ego the mind and all the religion and social tutorials are just the ego the programming everyone is running on thats why some people are christian mind some people are islam mind some people are hindu mind thats why minds cannot agree with each other they thrive on tension.
how can i spread hate here tell me? if i say that quran promises full breasted women in paradise and i think its just funny (78:34 )in this verse i just think it is hilarious that the creator of this cosmos is luring man like this. where is the hate? i just simply said what is written in the quran where is the hate? truth sounds like hate for those who hate the truth. you are taking it as a hate im not insulting you thats just what the verse says.
and i want to say im sorry if you felt negative emotions for my comment but im not trying to insult "you" i dont even know you how can i hate you? i am criticising the quran i dont think it came from the creator of the cosmos i think just like any religion it is man made and i think if you are mature enough you should just accept that there are people who dont beleive in religious books but when we were young we were taught by families to beleive in whatever the god was present in our geographical location suppose im 100 percent sure you are a muslim a sunni muslim and if you are from iran you are most probably a shia version of muslim or if you are from and if you were born in UTAH im 100 percent sure you are a christian but a Mormon sect christian .
if you beleive its not okay to criticise a persons beleives then at the same you just said "godless nasteks shabagi" tags so you just insulted another person in what they beleive if you shame someone for being atheist then you accept the heat thats coming at you atheism can be as personal for someone as islam can right? so in that way you insulted their family 14 gusti as well. some peoples mom dad is atheist so he adopted atheism as well so thats deeply personal for him/her right????? just like your islam??????
and i like how you assumed that trauma can lead to someone to atheism but rationality and evidence can also lead someone to atheism right???? how can you tell anything without even fully knowing your beleifs so yea

Not just old and middle aged, I see almost all men, including non Muslim men and patriarchal women doing this. If you say this they’ll somehow make it blasphemy. They’re extremely manipulative. I hardly know any Bangladeshi super religious person who aren’t borderline sociopathic evil.
