Hello, friends from Bangladesh! I'm writing to you from Lanús, Argentina, the birthplace of Diego Maradona. The World Cup ended not too long ago, and it brought back incredible memories of Qatar. Back then, there was a Facebook group aimed at uniting Argentina and Bangladesh.
I met so many amazing people there. Many friends offered to host me at their homes if I ever traveled there, and others wanted me to go watch cricket with them. Other girls shared what their lives were like; with some of them, I even learned a few words of Bengali, and we even expressed our affection for each other (with a very poor pronunciation on my part, I must admit!).
I learned so much about Bangladesh and Asia—so much so that I am about to earn my Master's degree in Asian and African History and Cultures from the University of Buenos Aires, all thanks to everything I learned with them and the deep desire they gave me to keep learning more.
The World Cup is over, and we don't talk anymore with the vast majority, but those memories will always remain in my heart.
Did you know much of the fanbase and love for Argentian football team came from love for Maradona. Maradona was absolute legend in Bangladesh (dare to say more than Messi in my humble opinion).
Our first love was Diego Maradona. It wasn't just due to his talent on the field, but also because of his politics off the field. He was a staunch anti-imperialist, and most of our fathers and uncles became his fans after he showed the finger to England in that historic WC final. We also don't like England, not the people of course, but their imperialist institutions. So our shared love for each other's countries is not only limited to a football field, but also to our shared struggle against the colonizers.
Really dk what happened with all the anti-Argentina hate this WC tho. I realize your president is very pro-Zio, but Argentina is also the country of Che and Maradona, ppl forget. Even if the whole world is against you, Argentina will always have friends in Bangladesh. Lots of love <3
You are writing as if everyone loves maradona and Argentina “our first love..” “if the whole world is against you..”. No we will not stand behind racists, the very country you are glazing, the people will literally spit on you because of your nationality. There’s a reason every other South American country hates them, and everyone could see their racist antics at the World Cup. So don’t go speaking for the whole of BD, cuz many of us still have our brains intact.
This is the result of media campains. Argentina is not a racist country. There are racists, such as in everywhere but the country itself is among the more tolerant in South america. South america does not hate as. Buenos aires is among the cites where more paraguayans live, 5% of uruguay's population lives here. Thousands of students from colombia, ecuador, chile and brazil come here every year to study because argentina provides free medicare and access to university to everyone. Finally. I can swear that a Bangladeshi would never be splitted by an argentinian. You can check that after winning World cup 2022 the only flag (apart from ours) present in the celebrations was yours.

Why do you guys play so dirty all the time? Lionel pessi is th worst.... Dives, kicks people with boot, faints, handball, asks ref to cancel clear goals, snitch on people, his cheating has been fully exposed in this wc.... Lol
