Policy/কর্মপন্থা Alright guys. Now that we got a political gov. What are the top ten things you want to see in the next 1 year?
For me its these:
- No more Teslas
- A more developed public bus transport system.
- More investment in rural education.
- Reduction of corruption by atleast 30%.
- Streamlining gov agencies to attract investment.
- Continued development of supply chain infrastructure such as sea ports, land ports, cold storage and possibly a plan to develop a new airport in the next 10 years.
- Better planning of cities and towns and not just dhaka.
- Reduction of extortion.
- Eliminate mobs
- Strengthen police to serve and protect the PEOPLE.

- "No more Teslas" will never work because none of yall think about the material reality. Only a small percentage of people in the whole country own cars, yet they take up 70 percent of the roads. Most people don't. Delhi, a city 3x bigger than Dhaka, has been able to tackle this much more efficiently through continuous regulation, and instead of banning e rickshaws, it made them the standard. Something most of yall would oppose knowingly its counterproductive and immensely ableist. Rickshaws will exist for two reasons: 1. High density and first/last-mile distance travel; 2. The obvious socio-economic conditions. Let us also remember that 90 percent of rickshaw pullers don't even own their rickshaws and have to do this for a sub-par amount just to survive.

Teslar Kotha bolbe but Tesla tei uthbe taratari jawar jonno. ,thats us bangladeshis
•
u/Deshimockingbird Feb 14 '26
This is what i dont get and honestly its the most frustrating part.
Almost everyone complains about em but dont seem to boycott em either.
•
u/Deshimockingbird Feb 13 '26
Which is why i mentioned the BUS my dear friend.
•
u/DoodhBhaat অমর্ত্য Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26
Is there a bus from your home to the nearest metro station? Most of us would answer no.
That is the case for most first/last-mile travel in Dhaka.
Take the average university student who uses the metro. We usually take a rickshaw from home to the station, then another rickshaw from the station to campus. You can think of a hundred different examples of this.
Which is why you should understand that buses will fix neither the socioeconomic problems nor all the transportation needs, especially for distances like the example I gave above, in the most densely populated city in the world.

I think their first priority should be the deal with the US that Yunus signed. He practically sold our country to US. We can't afford to buy billion dollars of weapons every year from the USA that would be of no use to us. Also if we stop buying uranium from Russia for the Nuclear Power Plant the energy crisis would become worse. And letting American produce and gas into our market and then stop giving subsidies to our local business (such as Agriculture, poultry) according to the condition of the deal would kill our people. The gas and food prices would go up and we would die starving as a country.
I honestly don't know what we can do. But they need to renegotiate the deal like India is trying to do with US to save their Agriculture.

This. God I have been screaming about this on my timeline for days now. I am so depressed. I can barely sleep at night when I think about all these atrocious treaties that he signed. Really hoping there’s a way around this
•
u/AZephyr_0801 Feb 14 '26
Same here I can't even sleep at night. We are on the verge of a famine due to this deal. I don't know why many people aren't showing any concern over this.

I want to see better cost of living. And investment in the healthcare sector. And also an improvement on the unemployment rate. The first and last will be difficult considering how shitty cost of living and employment rates are everywhere on the planet. But healthcare investments please!

next 1 year? I want to see the reforms proposed by the Labor commission and Committee on Enforced Disappearances put into practice; revisit the reforms proposed by the Womens' rights commission. Revisit deals made with India, China and the US. Implement CHT Peace Accord - FINALLY.

If somehow miraculously they manage to improve public bus system in Dhaka I'll be surprised

Ban jamaat
•
u/Mammoth-Buyer-6939 Feb 14 '26
and make them win public sympathy when that ban is lifted after the govt falls?
•
u/shades-of-defiance ☭ ☭ Feb 14 '26
They were banned post-independence, no one really opposed that decision except pakistan. The problem was after 1975, when the military rule lifted the ban and allowed them in politics again. At any rate, extraordinary situations demand extraordinary steps, which includes a lot of brave and committed decision makers which I know BNP is not! But that wasn’t the question asked, was it? I know what I want to see, that doesn't mean it's gonna happen anyways, just like the public transport overhaul.
•
u/crayon-eater-unbound 🇧🇩 🇺🇸 Feb 14 '26
And remove BNP’s biggest opposition? Jamaat is a necessary evil.
•

The first wish is never ever coming true no matter who comes to power. It's too damn late. Did you know issuing new licenses for rickshaws were banned from 1986 to 2020 to control congestion? And yet rickshaws increased from 80k in 1986 to probably around 1-1.5 million today.

সবই ঠিক আছে কিন্তু এনসিপি জামাত জোটের মতো সারাদিন অভিযোগ করলেই হবেনা, বিএনপিকেও কাজ করার সময় দিতে হবে।
•
u/moronkamorshar Feb 13 '26
জামাত জোট আওয়ামীর পর প্রতিশ্রুতি করেনি যে বিএনপিকে একদিনো শান্তিতে থিমাকতে দিবেনা।

All inter government treaties will be public with no NDAs.
All government files and requests will be considered automatically approved if government employees don't sign or withhold them for more than 7 days. This will reduce corruption a lot.

Nothing really. I don't expect much from our political parties. Never had faith in them, still don't. I am just glad we did not spiral down into a deeper hellhole.
But if I had to pick, I will just list some basics.
- Improve law enforcement.
- Reduce corruption.
- Improve education.
- Improve economy.
- Take steps to improve digital literacy and take steps against deliberate disinformation and hate speech.
I will be glad if Mr 10% can manage to improve all these by even 10% :)

Diversify exports from garments to more emerging industries. Look more into our natural reserves. Make BD rich - be corrupt, only after becoming rich. Stealing 10% out of 1 million is better than stealing 5% from 1000 taka.

1.Universal Healthcare and Enhance Medical Facilities all throughout the country especially at rural level. 2.Start fulfilling the environmental promises like planting trees and cutting canals and whatnot. 3.Start taking the inflation, unemployment and other economical issues to a normal level. 4.Keep the Metro Projects going as planned and not scraping them plus start developing an actual Public Bus system instead of Private Local Busses. 5.Stop Gas supply fluctuations. 6.Hopefully give equal importance to development projects in opposition constituencies as well. 7.Improve the overall law and order situation. 8.Improve International Image. 9.Idk what they gotta do but please ensure the SSC pass and A+ rates become like 21-24 again🙏

Too much for 1 year.
1 is more on city centric.
No. 4 is the one I want to see some progress on, though I have zero trust in Khamba. These guys are born to be corrupted.
