Didn't know you have to play cricket yourself to understand the situation but yeah I have player cricket, in fact I still play cricket while living outside the country by renting sports hall. Prothom Alo supporting India isn't anything new. The downfall of Bangladeshi cricket is mostly caused by internal issues. This WC forfeiting will have some consequences but it won't "vanish" Bangladesh cricket team.

The only big loss of the cricket team is the mentality of the players and their poor performance. If that can be fixed, nothing else wouldn't be a big deal.
Not liking something means being a part of is destruction- that's a very radical thing to say, something you probably don't see yourself as but it goes both ways. Prothom Alo, Daily star these are the most renowned newspapers, definitely great sources of news. But that doesn't make them invincible from being a bit biased. Take the news from them but don't swallow the analysis or presentation with your eyes closed. A few subtle words can change a story by a big margin.

Again you slide a bit. You need some big ally in cricket too. Have you pondered why BAN didn't do any vote except Pak? Meaning that your new is with you. You lost all supporting allies. That is something very important. Every newspaper has its own policies. So far those two are best in many ways. You can't burn it down coz it didn't go in your way.

The term "বিশ্বমানের পর্যায়ে" was dead for Bangladesh cricket after Shakib's 2019 WC campaign (some might also say after the 2015 WC knockout). After that cricket was nothing but a oiling up competition [unfortunately not hosted by Diddy] to see who can oil up the management and get on the team to play weak ahh cricket.

BCCI refused Mustafizur from IPL, and Bangladesh retaliated with banning IPL telecast in Bangladesh. That should have sufficient retaliation.
But your “pride” got hurt so you wanted to escalate further. Result is that there will be not Bangladeshi participation in the World Cup. You have your pride but “Pride goeth before the fall”.
Enjoy your pride while it lasts. Coz this hardline “pride protection” stance is gonna make sure you rake in more losses. You’ve lost medical visas to India, export privileges to India, water is sharing is up for renegotiation (will you lose that as well?).

PCB realised in an India dominated club franchise cricket environment, there’s very little space for financial minnows, especially antagonists of India.
PCB has successfully goaded BCB into suicide. BCB’s growing cricket ecosystem was posing a threat to PCB. Now PCB has bought itself some time to figure out its own survival.
There was no need to escalate things disproportionately with India. You should have claimed victory in IPL broadcast boycott.
The problem with disproportionate escalation is that de-escalation becomes difficult.

Agreed this was a win for sensationalism over rationalism and quiet defiance. The Bangla phrase that describes this situation the best is "নিজের নাক কেটে পরের যাত্রা ভঙ্গ".
Not participating might just be the beginning of the end of cricket in Bangladesh. We will be the biggest losers out of this instead of resolving this through dialogue like Tamim Iqbal suggested or even a permanent boycott of IPL broadcast and banning Bangladeshi players from participating in the future. That alone would have cost India in the tens of millions. That would have been a proportionate and rational response.

PCB goaded you because with BCB out of the way, they can corner a larger share of the pie - which will give them a fighting chance as BCCI and ICT rise financially.
And your interim regime also forced BCB to go for boycott in order to polarise election.
India for now has a wait and watch attitude. Post election, if BD continues with aggressive posturing - India will retaliate. Not militarily ofcourse, but economically and geo politically.
