Thank you Bangladesh for the great show. You will be a great case study for future. A great example of what happens when there is a lack of critical thinking.
For irreligious people in Bangladesh, my whole hearted sympathy (hopefully you can get out), and those who got out of Bangladesh like me: grab a beer 🍻 and see people fuck up and find out.

Not a fan of Pakistan at all, but it’s hard to deny the long term damage caused by wiping out intellectuals during the war. That loss didn’t just end in 1971, we’re still living with the goddam consequences.
BD right now honestly feels like a case study in what happens when critical thinking gets hollowed out over generations.

illiteracy rate, Most people dhaka are from gram which doesn’t have proper education that’s why we see this. Democracy is hard when people don’t have their brains to process an opinion on a political party. They just vote who they ‘think’ is right not an educated good decision and most politicians are uneducated. They don’t know how to fix problems with data. For example: If we elect a good politician like partho who makes calculate decisions for the benefit of mass people it will be better but the problem arises when the mass politicians are uneducated because they control funding, planning and they make decisions like how to gain profits from elections by not giving funding to politicians like partho.

/s ভাই কি বলেন এইসব। আমরা তো আমাদের দেশটাকে ইন্ডিয়ার কাছ থেকে ভেঙ্গে আলাদা কইরে অন্য জায়গায় নিয়ে যাব। এই দেশে জামাতি বান্দা ছাড়া আর কেউ থাকতে পারবে না। বাকি সবাই লিগ আর ইন্ডিয়ার দোসর। যারা ইন্ডিয়া থেকে আনা পিঁয়াজ খাইসে তাদের ও শেষ কইরে ফেলা হবে। সব বিল্ডিং আমরা ভেঙ্গে ফেলবো। আপনি জানেন না আমাদের দেশে ১৮ কোটি মানুষ এর মধ্যে ১৬ কোটি মানুষই অর্থনীতিবিদ, এবং রাজনৈতিক এবং কূটনৈতিক বিশ্লেষক!!! সব ভেঙ্গে ফেলে আর সব মানুষ খ্যাদায় দিয়ে আমরা সবাই সারাদিন নামাজ পরবো আর আঙুল চুষবো। দেখি কে কি বলে।

Ok, so this landed in my feed for some reason. I'm from next door - a place which apparently you guys aren't a fan of.
So, I worked at an US MNC which also opened a training centre or sort in Dhaka with aims to expand. A few of the Dhaka folks were sent to Bangalore for usual KT procedures.
Was nice to meet them, while they came from upper middle class family as I could tell they were literally like young engineering graduates in India are. Made friends with them, and a very good friend with one particular individual.
You have something like BARC I came to know from her and the stories I was told made me think the college life is quite similar. And the partying culture too - while Bangalore is one of India's biggest tech hubs and thus party culture is off the charts, the BD people that worked here for an year were not alien to this life.
Kind of weird to see insta stories and posts of these people these days. So much anarchy and all.

হ আপনিও ইলিয়াস আর পিনাকী । ওরাও নিশ্চয়ই এক গ্লাস বিয়ার নিয়ে আমাদের দেখে আর এনজয় করে । আপনিও করতেছেন । কিন্তু আমরা কোথায় যাবো? আমরা দেশ ছেড়ে কোথাও চলে যাবার মত সামর্থ্যবান নই আবার এইসব উগ্রপন্থা সহ্য করাও কঠিন । কি দেখতে হবে সামনে জানি না , হিন্দু হয়ে জন্ম নিলে ভারতে যেয়ে অত্যাচারের কথা বলে রাজনৈতিক আশ্রয় পেতাম ,কিংবা লীগ করলেও হয়তো আশ্রয় পেতাম কিন্তু আমরা না করেছি লীগ না করতে পারছি টাকা আর হিন্দু ধর্ম পরিচয় ও নাই ,ভারত আমাদের রাজনৈতিক আশ্রয় দেবে ও না । কই যামু ?

Idk what happened bro. Here I am sitting in the US, thinking, how did things get so bad? Sure it's a poor country so naturally people lean towards religion as salvation or peace of mind or whatever. But shit wasn't this bad when the economy was way worse. The country was actually left leaning in times of crisis in 80s and 90s. Now everywhere I see its future rapists wearing "tupi" and saying Allahu Akbar. I mean, from which shithole are these "mollas" coming from? Surely someone is behind this increasing Islamic Radicalist mindset.

I mean, I wouldn't consider my irreligious as I follow Islam without being an extremist. But hell, our country is dumb. They are voting for radical islamists without thinking about the future. All they want is Islam, Islam, Islam. If these people get in power I do not think any minority in our country is going to have a good time at all. These people in Bangladesh are so easily fooled. All you have to do to win an election now is to say that you are an imam and will turn the country into Afghanistan after winning. All I can say is that if we want something even a little better, the only thing to do is to vote BNP. I think that says a lot.

Well, we were taught in school about the cooperation of Indians and Bangladeshis in 1971. Our soldiers shed their blood for Bangladesh and screamed "Joy Bangla" along with Mukti Bahinis after taking over Dhaka. Nothing matters now. They now love Pakistanis, they hate us, idk but for some reason only they know.

Any optimism after the July-Revolution has been flushed down the toilet. I read on Facebook that the Daily Star had a mural for the July-Revolution on the ground floor. That got burnt down as well. That's a symbol for where we are at right now. Fuck this country.
