A coward of government is this interim government. And I have 0 doubt that the cowards removed the PE teachers post too, so they can later play other excuses and say they didn't get forced by the extremist.

For people who thinks music teacher and learning music is useless
Their are many studies that shows how music can improve the brain functions of a child. Study showed that Musicians are on average more good at math and multitasking jobs. Many studies also have been done one was by aarp, john hopkins, harvard school of medicine in a paper in International journal of geriatric in a 2024 paper with the title The relationship between playing instruments and cognitive trajectories also show it help to keep the brain healthy.
On an average a Bangladeshi have an IQ of below room temperature in Fahrenheit 74. So yea we need every way there is to develop our brains.

I hate music because it was a compulsory subject in my school and many other schools growing up in the Middle East. I found it so dumb and boring. And was punished by the teacher for not cooperating.
A lot of those Middle Eastern people teach music and art as separate compulsory subjects in primary school (after some grades it's not compulsory which is wonderful), in their schools.
But I see your point. I read that too online. In my opinion we need physical education (PE) classes. Those were compulsory for both genders at all grades in the Middle East, but I was really really shocked to know religious schools skip PE class or remove it completely for girls.

Great, now they gonna ensure kids can't even sing the national anthem nor enjoy rabindra/nazrul sangeet. Honestly, fuck'em wahabi and qawmi fuckers. These people are and will be the enemies of our dear nation. We should be vigilant of safeguarding our sovereignty against the conspiracy of the two-faced sheikhs of the Gulf countries.

A lot of derailing seems to be happening in the comments.
For those idiots who are asking why not focus on science instead of music or other important subjects: there are already science teacher positions. Discussion about the process of enrollment of teachers is a totally different discussion, and frankly isn’t limited to science only.
There’s a comment praising this, giving the reason that these wouldn’t be viable outside Chittagong and Dhaka and a few handful of schools. The problem that your moronic brain can’t understand is that these positions weren’t removed with experts raising such concerns, or done through a valid process but due to threats of religious groups, which is why I titled the post as "Religious Fascism 101". It’s seriously not that hard to understand.

Soon after, religious organisations began to voice strong criticism of the move, particularly against the creation of the music teacher post.
On Sept 16, Islami Andolan Bangladesh chief Ameer Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim condemned the decision and called for the appointment of religious teachers in primary schools instead.
That same day, leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, and Bangladesh Khelafat Andolon also criticised the creation of the music teacher post during a seminar.
Earlier, on Sept 6, Hifazat-e Islam denounced the government’s move as an “anti-Islamic agenda” and demanded the cancellation of the recruitment rules.

Music isn't just music. It is therapy as well. It cures/ heals many people in the world. Besides, almost all autistic people are given music therapy!
•
u/Icy-Cup-9631 Nov 03 '25
We don't have PE teachers and you are talking about music teacher . Most of the schools lacks teachers in main subjects . Your opinion is far from Reality in Bangladesh. General primary schools can't properly teach normal students let alone autistic students.

Just an interesting reminder, the new government of Syria has kept the compulsory art and music in government distributed school curriculums, both which are very common subjects in primary school in the Middle East. They didn't remove them even though they could.

We haven’t had any music teachers in our time, and I don’t know if the music teacher position was added later (after 2008-10). My friends who wanted to learn to sing and dance or any other activity got admitted to cultural institutions, and those friends performed in school cultural functions. Also, prior to any cultural functions, some teachers who could dance, sing, or act prepared the students who wanted to participate in school cultural functions. Actually, music and other activities were controlled by teachers who were mainly core subjects teachers like Math, English, Bengali, Science, etc. Like a Bengali teacher who could sing, well-groomed the students who wanted to participate in school functions. I mean, why do you need a separate position for music? If we need one, then why don’t we also have separate cooking/dance/acting/cricket/football classes/teachers?

moja jinish jano bhai, islamist rah tomar exact argument points nitese to put more islamic teacher.
"Amader shomai , islamic teacher rah onno subject er rteacher chilo, kintu ekhon e shomai amader proper islamic teacher lagbe"
The same argument can be made for music teacher, your points can be turned around on you.
Also
If we need one, then why don’t we also have separate cooking/dance/acting/cricket/football classes/teachers?
This ain't the gotcha you think it is? Again we can turn your point on you, WHY DON'T WE HAVE COOKING/DANCE/ACTING/CRICKET/FOOTBALL CLASSES AND TEACHER. WE NEED ALL ALONGSIDE MUSIC .
Also incase jodi argument goes to the point where one would say, why are we only angry for music teachers. ei bhabe chinta kore dekho. Imagine you are a dancer and your closest friend is a musician. They got job oportunity to teach interested student to love thier field of intrest. suddenly cause of bigoted people they lost that opportunity. Will you not be angry or would you rather say, "why are people not angry for me"?
Here music teacher has already been established. and then got removed ofcource we would be angry.
AND FINALLY YOU ALONGSIDE ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE ARE MISSING THE BIGGEST POINT. WE AREN'T ONLY ANGRY AT MUSIC TEACHER POSITION BEING REMOVED. WE ARE ANGRY BECAUSE OF THE REASON OF REMOVING THEM. AJKE MUSIC TEACHER KALK HOBE LITERATURE AND POEM , SHESHE JEYE TOMRA JEI SCIENCE SCIENCE KORTESO OITAW JABE, BE ANGRY AT WHAT MATTERS DON'T DIRECT IT AGAINST PEOPLE WHO ARE JUSTFULLY ANGRY.

An understanding in music is boosting scientific understanding.
Plus music is a fundamental core of humanity. Since humankind exists music has played a crucial role for cultural development. The vast amount of instruments and different signing techniques on this planet should give you a hint on how important music is for us.

The schools already have lots of science teachers, but about 99% of them are not actually from science background.
Give me one source. Literally one. I’ll take even a subpar one.

Thats again no source at all.
Science teachers do have degrees. I have not seen any studies, concerns, or research by experts suggesting a problem with fake degrees in the country. If you have then share. It is true however that outside of privileged schools, the quality of teachers is very subpar. But that’s a structural issue affecting all teachers not limited to science and it’s a completely different discussion that has no correlation with hiring music teachers.
I hope you use some reading comprehension to get that through your thick skull.

Wdym? Ever since childhood, I’ve only seen graduates in science teaching science, even at primary levels.
It was always the music teachers who didn’t have any formal degree in music, because in our country, nobody really studies that at the university level.
So, the situation is actually the complete opposite of what you described.
•
u/punkrocker_yes_I_am Nov 03 '25
Then change how employment enrollment is handled instead of catering one over the other between teachers who are apart of different departments.

And in these times where the entire nation is suffering from an Identity crisis we need culture more than ever

Are you fucking stupid?
- There is already position for science teachers. You could argue about focusing on the enrollment of quality science teachers, but that’s a completely separate discussion. In another comment, you said that 99% of science teachers don’t have a science degree, which is another absurd statement that you wouldn’t even be able to back up with a subpar source if I asked.
- The post is about these positions being removed due to religious fascism in the country. Focus on that instead of derailing the conversation like a moron.

u/Small-Interview-2800 Emotion is orgasm Nov 03 '25
Where is the government “focusing on hiring music teachers”? How many schools teach music at all? How many of those schools have teachers with a degree on music? Why tf are you acting like we’re lacking on science when that’s literally what 80% of our students study before college? What is this strawman, no, not even a strawman, this is weird af argument.
•
u/JadeRPRS Nov 03 '25
First of all the entire thing wasn't even a focus on the music teacher that was only a single part, aside from music there was a pe teacher and vice principal. And as others have said we already have science teachers everywhere.
You keep repeating "why not both" as some kinda gotcha but to anyone with an ounce of common sense your logic sounds like " why not give free food to both rich and poor, why only donate to the poor"
•
•
u/Crafty_Stomach3418 khati bangali 🇧🇩 খাঁটি বাঙালি Nov 03 '25
Oh I agree. Civic sense, politeness, critical thinking, mannerisms, should all be a part of the curriculum as well. Make it a mandatory sub for all primaries even.
As for the government’s role, I’m not entirely sure, but maybe it’s just a matter of supply and demand between graduates and available positions.
STEM grads have better opportunities elsewhere. Meanwhile, music grads have to turn to teaching if they want to stay connected to their field, since Bangladesh doesn’t really have a strong music industry to absorb them.
So, they’re simply easier to attract to government teaching jobs. . Meanwhile most science teachers tend to come from bottom tier institutions
If the government wants to change this situation, we'll need a full on education system reform with adequate pay for teachers on par with top tier professionals. Or at least make them solvent enough that they don't feel forced to go into tuition business.

i always found it incredibly funny the irony of writing a foreign language's words in Bangla. especially a language you cant even write without copy, and for majority cant even read, and understanding it is an even greater far cry.
God could've had the brilliantly wise idea to make an illiterate sand dweller miraculously speak and write a novel language understandable by everyone on earth to deliver his final message to humanity. But it seems God prefers dark comedy instead. Alas, Allah knows best. আলহামদুলিল্লাহ্
