Mod Post Poll Results and New Guidelines for Political Posts
Hey everyone,
As you might have seen, the poll has come to an end, and the results were a bit surprising to me. The winning option was that all political posts moving forward must be flaired by the user with the Political Question post flair, with 125 votes.
Personally, I would have preferred having a second space for political questions, which received 121 votes. However, you may have already noticed that I’ve added two flairs: one for general questions and one for political questions. This means you can filter out political questions by clicking on General Question, and you’ll only see general questions from there.
One thing to keep in mind is that there will be a new way of handling political posts moving forward. As outlined in the new rule, posts that are not appropriately marked as political by the user will first result in a removal & a warning, followed by a temporary ban. Any further occurrences may result in a permanent ban.
I’m aware that this might not be a perfect system, so feel free to leave constructive feedback in the comments. That said, I do want this space to remain welcoming for people who are not interested in politics and would rather not see those posts at all. It can also be difficult to distinguish between political posts made in good faith and those intended to provoke negative discussions.
Lastly, because there is a high volume of posts in the subreddit and I can’t always read every new submission, I’d like to ask you to report any posts or comments that break the rules. You can also send a modmail if you’d like to provide additional details. Please do include links to the profile or content you’re reporting so I can review it and take action more quickly.
Also quick FYI: Please always be respectful toward others. It’s okay to disagree, but attacking people is not.
Thank you, everyone, for contributing to this community!

Political Question If we’re so worried about illegal workers in the US then why haven’t we criminalized hiring illegals?
Surely if the CEO/owner could go to jail from profiting on illegal labor they would make sure it doesn’t happen.

Political Question Are all these plane crashes a result of Elon/DOGE gutting the FAA ?
Trump and Elon took a chainsaw to the FAA. Eliminating all kinds of positions . Now we see a big uptick in plane crashes and near misses .
Coincidence?
While we are at it, food recalls have also exploded since all the government oversight was eliminated.

Political Question Why are Witkoff and Kushner being taken seriously as negotiators when they literally are not in the top 1 million most qualified people in the US to hold such a position?
This is absolutely bewildering to me. I could hand anybody a list in one hour of 1000 more qualified individuals without any effort. What exactly do they provide besides simping to an internationally wanted war criminal?

Political Question Does anyone else think Trump is defrauding the United States?
Here’s how it works.
He sets the policy. His accounts trade the policy. His company sells early access to the policy. Then he posts a meme bragging about the money and says it’s for the country. The people that make money are him, his friends, his family, and his Truth Social API subscribers who get access to insider information. And the people that lose money are the ones that don’t (us) who are on the other side of those trades holding the bag.
That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
Here are the details: 21,000 trades since last year. Bought Nvidia a week before his administration approved chip exports to China. Traded Palantir before and after the Iran deal. Posted “great time to buy” the morning he paused the tariffs, and a wave of buy orders hit minutes before the announcement. Pumped stocks on Truth Social days after his accounts bought them. His government took a 10% stake in Intel, his accounts bought Intel, and last night he posted a meme of himself watching Intel go up with the caption that he’s made “Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks.”
Then there’s Truth API. $100,000 a month for early access to his announcements. A paid subscription for insider trading, sold by the President. He owns the company selling it. Read that as many times as you need to. The President is charging money for advance notice of what the President is going to do.
Every one of those trades has someone on the other side of it. When he buys before the news, someone sold to him at the old price. When buy orders hit before the announcement, someone else was selling. Inside information doesn’t make money. It takes money from the people who didn’t know and gives it to the people who did. The people who didn’t know is you.
Crypto is the same scheme with fewer rules. TRUMP coin launched two days before the inauguration and went to $73. It’s $1.50 now. Down 97%. Almost a million people lost a combined $3.8 billion. His companies own 80% of the supply and take a cut of every trade, so they made $636 million last year while everyone who bought it lost. The only wallets that made money got in the first few hours. Then he sold dinner seats at Mar-a-Lago to the biggest holders and most of them dumped right after. World Liberty, his other one, is down over 80%. His family pulled out $799 million.
He told people to buy. They bought. He and his people got out. They’re holding it. If a hedge fund did this the word for it is fraud. If a pastor did it it’s fraud. If you or I did it it’s fraud. Anyone else would go to prison for decades for doing what he’s doing. He does it from the Oval Office and it’s a meme. And half the country ignores it and laughs because he said he “does it for America.”
And now it’s legal, because the conflict of interest law exempts the President and Congress passed an insider trading bill in July and wrote him out of it. So much for our elected officials representing us.
Think about what that means. Congress looked at this and decided the one person who can move every market in the world with a post is the one person who doesn’t have to follow the rules and has permission to rig the markets against us because we don’t have the same insider information he, his donors, family, and paid subscribers have.
The US government owns stakes in companies the President is trading. The SEC that’s supposed to investigate him reports to him. Nine out of ten Americans already think the government is corrupt. No shit. Foreign money and pension funds are watching the President sell advance notice of his own decisions and asking why they’d put a dollar into that market. Democrats said they’ll subpoena everything if they take the House and every one of these deals ends up in court with taxpayers paying the bill.
The White House says outside managers do the trades and he doesn’t touch it. He still owns the accounts. He still owns Truth Social. He still posted the meme. The two reasons this guy is President is to stay out of prison (for his felonies, very suspect ties to Epstein, etc.) and to profit. What has he ever done to help any of us?
If this isn’t a scheme to defraud the country, somebody tell me what one looks like. The fact that our elected officials are okay with this and didn’t remove him a long time ago and put him in jail is fucking insane. The POTUS is openly rigging the entire stock market. Congress and the Supreme Court are basically co-conspiring with him. And the “small government party” is cheering him on. How sad.

Political Question Trump is clearly a madman -- now what?
Trump claiming American -- who's kidding who, Trump's -- ownership of the moon is a clear sign that he has finally gone completely mental. Now what happens?

General Question Does anyone else think it’s time to bring back print magazines?
Elder millennials especially! I can’t be the only one who thinks relaxing on the front porch with my coffee and flipping through a magazine would be nice. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m kind of getting sick of everything being on screens. Anyone else?

Political Question Power in the U.S. is aging. McConnell is 84, Trump is 80, Biden was 82. Around the world, leaders are getting older. Is gerontocracy the real threat to global stability and why won’t the young take over?

General Question Did anyone else do nothing this holiday weekend?
Well once again it's a 3 day holiday Weekend. I did nothing. Went to the mall alone and had an ice cream yesterday. Wrote comments on reddit. Emptied the dishwasher. Did anyone else do nothing and see no-one all weekend?

Political Question Why is there cufusion about Trump and voting?
Trump doesn't believe he should be accountable for his conduct. This means he doesn't feel a need to do a good job to earn votes. He believes he should win no matter how awful and corrupt he has been in office.
Vote fraud is a con man's game. Anything to distract from the reasons the GOP is losing in the polls. Namely that Trump is the most corrupt person on planet earth. By supporting him the GOP is complicit in all of his corruption and betrayal of the public.
