The city’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, whose demonization of Israel continues to consume much of his time in office, claimed he was “horrified by the assault,” while his political sidekick, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, called the crime “appalling.”

Appearing to draw their language from the same AI-esque playbook, both lawmakers affirmed every New Yorker’s right to “worship” and “observe their religion without fear of violence.”

It was the same rinse-and-repeat blueprint echoed by the state’s Democratic leadership, including US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who seems to revel in matching each anti-Jewish offense with orchestrated lines lauding his commitment to protecting the city’s Jews.

With crime figures reported by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) revealing a marked rise in antisemitic incidents since Mamdani took office earlier this year, the recycled rhetoric aimed at alleviating Jewish concerns now feels feigned and reeks of dishonesty.

In July, the Jewish population was targeted in 70 percent of all hate crimes in New York City.

The Democratic party's response to antisemitism has been essentially "thoughts and prayers". There has been very little action. The Biden administration did very little to combat antisemitism. He said all the right things, but didn't do much. Under his watch, American universities and schools became hotbeds of hatred and violence against Jews. He did nothing to stop them. On the other hand, the Trump administration did a lot to hold universities and schools accountable for antisemitism, and it worked. Many universities and schools actually changed their policies and most of the protests were gone, allowing learning to resume.

This is a very tough situation for most Jews since most Jews are Democrats. I am so disgusted by what the party has become that I left the Democratic party a few weeks ago. I couldn't support the party anymore after it voted 8 times to save the Islamic Republic of Iran, a regime responsible for murdering many Jews and spreading vast quantities of antisemitic propaganda around the world, resulting in more antisemitic hate crimes. It felt like a stab in the back. No amount of "thoughts and prayers" can make up for that. If the party wants my vote again, they're going to have to work really hard to get it. They're going to have to confront the far left and kick them out of the party.

A full on separate DSA party would be unlikely to supersede the Democratic Party or have enough traction to generate electoral wins. The only way for them to get votes is to have some fools think they are democrats. They had to hijack the Democratic Party. You haven’t left the Democratic Party really, you left DSA. Not saying that the democrats were so much better before DSA got their grip on it, but they weren’t full on communists.
