Yum. I like doing a fried egg with the rice and using seaweed as little wraps for each bite 😋

u/Ichgebibble 21h ago

What a great idea!

u/Ok_Inside_1985 21h ago

This is my favorite. Eggs n rice specifically with hot sauce for mixing with the yolk.

When you’re ready to level up you gotta check out tamago kake gohan

u/RogueJosei 19h ago

Or soy butter rice with egg and seasoned seaweed wraps to eat 🥰 and a sprinkle of togarashi

u/Ichgebibble 21h ago

That looks delicious!

I have a similar version of this : rice seasoned with rice vinegar+furukake

Then green onions, kew pie mayo, Sriracha

Top with two fried eggs (in sesame oil). Good sprinkle of salt on top.

So filling and delicious, smash it all up, eat with your favorite big spoon

u/Ichgebibble 20h ago

I didn’t think of rice vinegar but I have some and will use it next time, thank you for the suggestion.

My go to is always…
Hot white rice, mix in some butter, sunny side up fried egg, soy sauce, a touch of sesame oil. Eat with some kimchi.

My current fixation is smoked salmon on a bagel with cream cheese!

u/Ichgebibble 20h ago

I adore lox but can’t eat cream cheese and it’s one of the great tragedies in my life

u/laughingcrip 19h ago

If it's because of the dairy, have you tried Violife cream cheese?

u/Ichgebibble 18h ago

It is but I have not!

u/laughingcrip 14h ago

It's a pretty good option for vegan cream cheese!

I do scrambled on rice with soy, sesame, green onion. It basically always hits

u/lumoslomas AuDHD 20h ago

I'm having tummy troubles rn so there's not much I can eat but man rice and hot sauce is peak. I'm living off that shit.

u/RealMermaid04 ADHDiiiva! 20h ago

Hi. What hot sauce is this. I'm gonna show to my daughter since she's being independent and making her own foods now...I wanna suggest her some easy recipes.

u/Ichgebibble 20h ago

It’s Cholula sauce which has a little kick but isn’t overpowering. It’s perfect with eggs.

u/Over-Debate2815 21h ago

Been there. So good!

Eggs and rice (any form of eggs really) is an elite combination and will be my comfort food until the day I die. One of these days I'll book a trip to Japan and eat nothing but eggs over rice while I'm there

u/OnlyDaysEndingInWhy 13h ago

I fear I'm nearing the end of my onigiri/jammy egg phase, but who knows?

Hopefully that 10 pound bag of rice in my pantry (I rarely ate rice prior to this) will keep getting put to good use. Thanks for the inspiration!

u/Gigafive 13h ago

Add avocado

u/minibini 20h ago

Oooh!!

u/arbarrtheaardvark 20h ago

Yum.

When I'm hungry and need easy comfort food but don't want to pay for takeout, one of my main go to meals is a microwaveable sticky rice, with shredded sharp cheddar cheese and 2 or 3 medium poached eggs.

My doctor says my LDL cholesterol is borderline so I'm trying to eat fewer eggs and less cheese and I think wistfully about my eggy cheesy rice often when I'm making my morning oatmeal haha.

u/Ichgebibble 20h ago

Ok, now I have to put some cheese on it next time!

u/Raoena 20h ago

Mmmmmmmm. Looks great.  In going to go poach some eggs.

u/aus-jaus 20h ago

I love to cube some Spam, cook it till crispy, then add a mix of hoisin, mirin, and soy sauce. add it to jasmine rice with a scrambled egg, mix it up with a tiny bit more soy sauce 🤌🤌

u/420LordQuas 18h ago

Just ate this for dinner except I added corn. So good!

u/Russiadontgiveafuck 18h ago

Girl, I eat cuban eggs like three times a week. Rice, fried egg (to your liking, mine's over easy) and tomate frito. I add Sriracha.

Tomate frito is a (packaged) smooth tomato sauce with olive oil, garlic, onion, and a whole lot more sugar than you'd think. The eggs aren't cuban btw, I doubt Cuba has ever heard of them, it's a Spanish dish.

Well…. Now this is going to be my new food hyper fixation. Thank you. 🙂‍↕️

This looks like the perfect ADHD friendly food. Low effort and both very tasty

u/Ichgebibble 2h ago

I’ve had it three days in a row and am probably going to have it again today. I’m hooked

u/Impressive-Scheme903 21h ago

I'm not a big fan of spicy food, I need an alternative sauce besides tomato sauce

u/Ichgebibble 20h ago

Soy sauce?

u/onemorespacecadet ADHD 20h ago edited 20h ago

everyone is saying soy sauce but i like tamari better because it’s a bit less salty and more… savory, if that makes sense (at least imo). also a big fan of basically any type of mustard.

i’ve also been using salad dressing on pasta (like caesar or italian) when i really want something different than tomato sauce but don’t feel like doing much lmao

u/Impressive-Scheme903 20h ago

Wow, that's comprehensive, I know what to try.

u/jphistory 20h ago

Soy sauce and lemon juice. I ate that every day for my staff meal because I didn't eat meat and was also poor for over a year.

u/skippysammich 20h ago

You can get ponzu, which is basically soy and citrus already mixed together

u/jphistory 20h ago

Good to know! Definitely had never heard of that in 2004 or so when I was working in restaurants :)

u/TheSentientSnail 20h ago

You could try Maggi liquid seasoning. It's basically soy sauce, but with a little more sweetness/depth. Mostly it's just salty, there's no heat or spicyness at all. Goes great on softboiled eggs and rice.

u/Raoena 20h ago

Tsuyu no Moto.

Ninben brand. It's an all-purpose savory concentrate. You can use it as a sauce (dilute a little) or sauce ingredient, or as a soup broth concentrate. It's savory and salt and a little fishy. But none of that describes how deeply delicious it is.

u/umm_bazz 20h ago

I add soy sauce - yum

u/Ichgebibble 20h ago

Yum!! There are so many great things that can be done with this dish!
