Which New Euro Banknote Design Is Your Favorite? (People Designs)
Unfortunately polls only allow six options which means the previous poll on favorite bank notes had to group all people designs together. So I've put together the opposite poll so we can also see what everyone thinks of those designs individually.

H is well designed and beautiful concept. I prefer completely horizontal designs, and it fits, and I love the idea of mixing two sides, nature and urban. Nice move from the EU to launch this now. It's perfect timing for a bit more union.

G is for me the only one with human designs that looks modern and acceptable.
A,C,F looks like failed powerpoint presentations.
E is nice but feels dated already.

G looks like board game money in my opinion. Agree on A, C, F. For the people designs I only find E acceptable.

Tbh board game money look is a trend these days. Look at Canada, Oz, NZ, scottish money for example. All nice and all can receive this criticism.
And imo it's not bad that it looks that way. Money doesn't need to be boring

I don't think they deserve this criticism. Their banknotes are rich of different elements making them look real and authentic.
As for G it looks like board game money because it is far too simplistic. Especially with those comporate memphis/alegria people on the back it looks too generic.

G feels like an art deco attempt. And spacing and rounded rectangle around numbers is a bit too on the nose.

It feels too zeitgeist specific for a banknote design. Banknote design i think should be something timeless but also not too distant from previous versions.
But ok, from conceptual point of view, art deco is french european art style, grew into pan european, and world wide, and that is kind of a good concept.

I can at least see the artistic vision there. All the other ones are truly awful.
A looks bland as hell
C looks like a Powerpoint template
E looks like the old pre 2013-19 Euro notes, in a bad way
G looks very basic

I mean that's fine, tastes differ. If the overall response is anywhere close to like it is on the internet, we won't have to deal with those ones anyway since virtually nobody seems to like the people ones anyway ^^

I really dislike the inked sketch look of the fucking portraits. Being artistic or not, the prompt was having the faces of Da Vinci and Curie on the banknote, why is that the only part that look like it was doodled in a notebook with a pen?

Probably because they are more neutral and avoid alienation more.
The selected people are somewhat transnational, but all revolve around West/ Central Europe.•

people are already fighting about chosen people. Truth is we have 26 countries and 6 banknotes. You can't make everyone happy with humans on it. people will always complain about choices and regions of people represented.
That's why birds. imo any nature would work.
I am personally just sad we're dropping architecture. Birds and unique landmarks from different time periods would be amazing.

Yes they do, but imo to a lesser extent. Coming from a smaller country in the periphery of the EU I feel less excluded by having birds and buildings on our common banknotes than famous German or Polish-French historical figures.

The windows/doorways and bridges presented on the banknotes are fantastical inspirations of architectural styles that were very widespread and appear, to some extent, across all europe. Unlike people, its more difficult to say exactly where they originated and thus which country they belong to. They also represent the openness (windows) and cooperation (bridges) of the European countries
Though I do think changing the designs is a good idea, I would personally prefer if they kept the architectural theme

The bridges were fictional, the buildings on the new proposals are all EU buildings, parliament, comission, ECB, etc

Kind of but not really. the "buildings" and "bridges" on the existing notes are not acutally real. they are imagined structures based on architectural styles found pretty much all over Europe.
The buildings found on the new notes are our institutions which does (or at least should) represent all of us

True and its imo better than random stock photo of a classroom or library as on back of human designs.
But we could make it nicer with landmarks. Athens Acropolis, Rome Coliseum, Neuschwanstein castle, Notre Dame Cathedral, Alhambra, as historic ones + for example Parliament building as a representation of a modern one would be imo even better

We should accept that people historically lived in one country and that Europe should not always try to find a lukewarm consensus.
It's a bit sad that an union of people can't agree on which people to put on banknote and that we always need abstract concept like art, culture, architecture or birds to feel united.
Marie Curie was borned in Poland, lived in France but her research benefits everyone today and we need more scientific than ever. I don't see why someone from Greece or Portugal could not see themselves in her.

Almost all of them live everywhere in Europe, exceptions are the Wall creeper which doesn't live much above 50°N and the Northren gannet which is a coastal bird and therefore not that known for landlocked countries.
I have to say they chose them perfectly. All of them are very distinct non-generic birds, but at the same time none of them are niche unknown species but rather species most Europeans can encounter within their country

Birds have large areas they habitat plus migration. So they are more transnational than other animals.

Out of 5 designs with people, 4 are downright awful or at least very experimental and the last one is so safe that you could probably convince someone it was already in use 30 years ago but was dropped for the current design.
So the birds have 5 designs that are worth being discussed, and they're also beautiful birds.

A: Too plain, photos vs paintings inconsistent, too literal
B: Bit too plain/simple. Don't like the small color palette. It's alright though.
C: Too corporate carpet. Too minimalistic.
D: Pretty okay. Just the birdsong display looks like straight copypasted from Audacity with the white and grey. Also the hands on the back are corny.
E: Too pale on the front, the people look fake drawn/AI, the people shilouettes on the back are pretentious
F: HATE HATE HATE
G: Monopoly money except kickstarter price
H: Good
I: There is something interesting artistically with the color palette. It doesnt feel pretentious ir shallow. But it's just a bit too depressing visually for me.
J: A bit too comic book and formulaic. It's alright.

Totally agree on 9 of them, just need to defend G:
- very original, maybe we need time to like it
- on each back, you can see the letters E,U,R and O. Slight detail but so well done
- the people on the front are looking you right in the eye. Each time you will take a 10€, Beethoven will be your life coach motivating you.

Money doesn't need to be unique and thought provoking. It should be recognizable, reassuring, boring. Unexciting. At most it can be aesthetically pleasing.

I like particularly the Design G. I love the modern design.

I like the Bird Designs the most, iand among those i think i prefer J a bit more than the other ones.
Though there's one thing among them all that i dislike, the Buildings in the backside. Most of these modern architecture Designs are ass, i despise them. Besides we have much more aesthetically pleasing architecture and more historically important Buildings.

Personally, H designs, but I also love J design for vertical, my favourite single note is B design note for 5e. I would love if notes were vertical from one side but horizontal from the other like the D design.

I chose E. As much as I love nature, I feel that there is tangible political and cultural benefit from being reminded of the human figures from across Europe whose collective body of work in the arts and sciences make Europe the amazing place it is today. It would serve to remind the Eurosceptics every day that they owe their well-being to sharing and cooperation between all our nations.

The banknotes are usually reissued every 10-15 years everywhere in the world. Old ones continue being a valid tender, but are phased away by the banks. The last reissue was 2013-2018.

I was a kid before the Euro and I remember at least 2 reissues of the Portuguese Escudo banknotes with entirely different designs.
Sure, we had a ton of inflation which made smaller notes obsolete. But it's not like it was the end of the world each time there was a reissue.
People opposing this are starting to sound like am*ricans with the metric system...
That being said, vote on vertical birbs please.
