Rejoin Petition 3: Thank you - to all 111,687 people who signed the 3rd 'Rejoin the EU' petition of this Government!

Now come to National Rejoin March IV this Saturday, 20th June, in London.

We meet at Temple Station at 12 noon to march to Parliament Square for a rally at 2:30 pm.

For the 10th anniversary of the Brexit referendum, let the Government know that the public has changed its mind and wants to Rejoin the EU!!

If you care about restoring free movement, rebuilding our economy, and reconnecting with Europe, then came and march. And then be ready to sign and share #RejoinPetition4 (coming soon) to keep up pressure on the Government. Let’s bring the UK back to the heart of Europe.

That's like 0,2% of the population who could be bothered click a link and put their name on a virtual dotted line.

This is not a good result. Imagine how few are going to show up if it takes actual time out of their day. I'm not saying it's a bad cause, it's just not something that the general British public seems to believe in.

We generally don't bother signing petitions like this because they do basically nothing. The march won't either in fairness so will likely have a low showing.

Doesn't mean the majority of the nation doesn't want back in.

Elections and referendum, they are currently the only real ways of effecting change in this country and you need a lot more noise than a petition to actually bring either about.

Polls show *support* for rejoining. If you'd ask "will" instead of "should", the numbers would be different. There are many hurdles, in Westminster and elsewhere.

Asking whether the UK "will" rejoin is an entirely different question though. I could want it more than anything in the world but don't believe it will happen, so would say no.

There needs to be consistent long term pressure for rejoining to stand any chance. A sudden shift in support seems unlikely.

Sometimes these things do happen very quickly.

The whole Brexit thing for example just more or less came out of nowhere - an ongoing spat within the Conservative party that Cameron hoped to use the British public to sort out for him so he didn't need to confront his MPs directly.

But thanks to the likes of Dominic Cummings and Boris Johnson, certain events in the UK, Europe and around the world, and a load of media attention, it suddenly began registering on the public who were persuaded there were lots of issues and no downside from Leaving.

We need to learn from these lessons and to see how we could mobilise all the people we know want to Rejoin.

And then somehow to get the Government (which is full of pro-EU MPs) moving!

I just get the impression a majority believe there is no chance at all of the UK rejoining in the near future. Hence the apathy.

It seems that that was the case, at least until very recently, but that now at least there is the possibility of it changing (albeit still at the moment very slowly, but perhaps once it starts it could build momentum quickly).
