u/SpiritLive8867, your post demonstrates why women live longer!

The safety flip flops are a nice touch.

u/PineappleHoney3D 5h ago

I can't even take out the garbage in flip flops. It's work just to keep them on your feet.

u/Visual-Fox-9110 Needs to write his will 5h ago

It's a skill..I can run in them.

u/Shockwave2309 Reviewed his life insurance policy 4h ago

Yeah, my neighbours hear me running in flip flops every now and then as well

u/familyguy333 4h ago

gotta try the red wing construction flops

u/OLDmanBOB13 Reviewed his life insurance policy 4h ago

I feel that with slides, but I never had issue with flip flops

u/FlattenInnerTube Needs to write his will 1h ago

Goes along with the squint safety glasses and the bouff safety helmet

u/mahi_fi 5h ago

The whole point of having two safety hooks is so that you can detach just one and attach it to the next pole before you detach the other as well.

But no, let's just attach one of the safety hooks to the rope of the other one lmao.

When I worked as a wireless internet technician, one of my colleagues would only keep one hook because, as he said "I'm not stupid enough to fall while climbing"

u/plutot_la_vie Reviewed his life insurance policy 3h ago

Then would he keep any hook, is he stupid?

u/LittleKitty235 IMMORTAL 1h ago

He clearly only needs the one hook when he is falling, not when he is climbing...duh

u/Doogie102 Reviewed his life insurance policy 1h ago

I am not sure if you are supposed to hook up to the thing you are building as well.

The people I'm really worried about are those walking in the street below.

u/Mission-Duck1337 Needs to write his will 4h ago

I think situations like these are more sad than stupid. I imagine for people in these situations it's either this, or not getting enough money for food onto the table

u/Hugsy13 Reviewed his life insurance policy 3h ago

No it’s just stupid. He has twin hooks. He uses one of them. No reason for him to not be 100% attached at all times.

u/PotentEmission Needs to do better 2h ago

That's just how it is in these countries. I've spent a lot of time in Chinese factories. They have all the safety gear and markings/signage, they just choose not to use them because there's no culture of compliance.

Maybe they learnt the right way in trade school, but if everyone around you does it the unsafe way and every place has low standards they're just going to default to that.

u/Internal-Library-213 1h ago

Quota. To use 2 hooks you have to travel the gap 3x ( set hook, go back to retrieve, and return)
Much more work increasing risk of falling 3x on one of those trips.
Harnesses may be junk as well possible he doesn’t even trust it.
Why make 3x instead of 1x trips for a harness that will tear when you fall?

u/piergino 6h ago

At this point isn't safer barefoot?

u/read-my-comments Defies death 5h ago

You get sore feet standing on pipes like this all day.

u/piergino 4h ago

This sounds like the least problem here

This is the first time I've ever seen a foreign scaffold worker tied off

u/Ok-Tangelo-7973 Needs to write his will 5h ago

Same. Still only 1 hook but I guess this is a step in the right direction?

edit: When did some of us get flairs added? πŸ˜… this shit is so ominous

u/ICantFekkingRead Needs to do better 4h ago

I just noticed that too (re: edit).

u/stkx_ 3h ago

Flip into right direction.

u/rectal_warrior Defies death 5h ago

I'm more concerned about him dropping that pole, especially the way he was holding it, onle little wobble and it's causing some serious damage

u/omltherunner Needs to do better 4h ago

…at least he’s wearing a harness?

u/LittleKitty235 IMMORTAL 1h ago

Still using it incorrectly, but its a step in the right direction

u/Bubbly_Ad3975 Needs to do better 4h ago

Oh good. He's wearing his safety flip-flops.

u/Pandalishus Defies death 2h ago

At least he”s tied off this time

u/King_d3vil Needs to do better 3h ago

Damn! He's in slippers too ❌

Safety sandals

u/AiryGateaux 3h ago

No, it's stupid.

u/SullyEF Needs to do better 2h ago

took 3 seconds for my palms to get severly sweaty.

I felt this strange funny feeling in my calf muscles in my legs. I am not scared of heights but whenever I see people dangling from heights i get this funny feeling in my legs where my legs kinda feel that throbbing sensation.

u/ChileRelleno414 Needs to write his will 4h ago

I couldn't care less about his safety, that is ultimately his choice.

But the innocent people below him and his scaffolding hardware... Dang.

u/MenthaAquatica Needs to write his will 3h ago

"The choice" among lowest wage workers in worst physical jobs is no food or work in the worst job without any regard for your safety. Unfortunately employers are aware of this. They also do not mind any legal repercussions as it is cheaper cost then legal employment and do not stop them from having a business if they lose. Most often these are heavily undercrewed places.

u/fr0str4in Needs to write his will 6h ago

In our workplace workers do this and without that safet belt.

u/ManWhoIsDrunk Reviewed his life insurance policy 6h ago

Yell at them!

u/fr0str4in Needs to write his will 4h ago

It's our fault. We're not providing them equipment although it's written in the contract that it's on us.

u/ManWhoIsDrunk Reviewed his life insurance policy 4h ago

Of course work gear is the responsibility of the employer.

u/RangerMesmer Reviewed his life insurance policy 3h ago

Make sure to order OSHA approved flip flops. A lot of ripoff brands like steel toe boots aren't approved for Title 29 CFR.

u/luxyuz Doesn't have time to bleed 1h ago

Not the safety sandal's! 😭

u/magichronx Regenerates limbs 47m ago edited 44m ago

He's got 2 safety lines, but one is hooked to the other when he makes the transfer...

At that point the 2nd line is just an unnecessary trip/tangle hazard

u/Everyday_Unicorn Doesn't have time to bleed 29m ago

Pffffffff!!!!

u/wstrmb Needs to do better 5h ago

More like he is risking other people's lives.

u/lordkhuzdul Defies death 4h ago

Welp, might count as a miracle, but at least he has a safety harness.

Now he just needs literally everything else.
