If my taxes were going toward punishing someone that's very clearly guilty, I'd be all for it. Unfortunately...

u/GeeYayZeus 6h ago

Not clearly. Technically, she attacked him first. Watch it again.

u/Substantial_Pass_146 6h ago

Yeah. He threw the drink in her face then she stood up cuz he did that then he shoved her. But I'm not here to debate what I'm positive that I saw.

u/GeeYayZeus 6h ago

She grabbed his drink first, he splashed her with the drink, and then she physically lunged at him.

Again, not excusing either of their behavior, and he took it too far, but it's clearly not a death penalty / life sentence case. Y'all need to calm the fuck down.

u/Substantial_Pass_146 6h ago

....I never called for death penalty/life sentence. Not everyone that goes into lockup serves a life sentence. I swear to god, every time I get on reddit....

u/GeeYayZeus 5h ago

The guy I responded to did.

Just put this guy away for life and spare us all.

You inserted yourself and said "I'd be all for it". Yes?

u/Substantial_Pass_146 5h ago

Okay. Well I'm telling you right now that I don't agree with a life sentence. I also said that a split second ago. Now that I said it twice can you take a hint?

u/Astralglamour 6h ago

It wasn't his drink, his drink is the bottle in front of him. He is taking her drink. Even if she was grabbing at his drink do you think that justifies him trying to kill her? What is wrong with you.

u/Substantial_Pass_146 5h ago

Idk, but I swear to god I run into these people every. Fucking. Time. I comment on something on reddit. Just once I'd like to have a situation that isn't a moral quandary and no one tries to turn it into one. "There's more than one way of seeing things!". Yeah! Plenty of times! But how tf does grabbing a drink constitute all of this? He absolutely took her drink. I didn't catch it at first, but literally, if someone takes something that doesn't belong to them, gut reaction is to try to take it back. What ISN'T gut reaction, what SHOULDN'T be a gut reaction is stealing her drink then physically assaulting her over a rejection. And watching this, the rejection was justified

u/GeeYayZeus 5h ago

Hey, you wanna respond to me instead of moaning about how unjust it is to take ALL the information in?

He took HIS drink and was about to drink from it. Hers is on the table. I swear, you'd make for a shitty juror. I've been on juries...it's not as easy as watching a video once and locking someone up for life.

Many are trolls/ bots. Reddit is infested with them. They are always right wing/manosphere coded. But unfortunately there are many men who just straight up hate women and probably would act like this guy if they had no fear of consequences. We probably encounter plenty of them in our day to day lives.

u/GeeYayZeus 5h ago

I'm a left-wing pacifist, dipstick. Check my history. I just have a sense of justice, and I've been on juries, so I've seen first hand how we can't just rush to judgment on these things.

If you want to have real justice in this world, you can't just point a finger and lock someone up. Or is that the kind of country you want to live in? I sure as fuck don't.

u/Astralglamour 5h ago

Plenty of left-wing men are misogynists.

You think this man's behavior was justified?

u/cockycrackers 5h ago

You saw that video and decided that his attack was justified in some way. That's fucked up, man. For REAL. Why do I get the feeling that you have physically assaulted women before, because she gave you some paltry reason. Scary, bro.

u/GeeYayZeus 3h ago

Not at all, and maybe you should take a few moments to watch the video a couples times again, and read my responses to others before passing judgment on me.

Men should never attack women, ever. If you believe that's justified in any way, then you were taught wrong.

But she's nearly as aggressive as he is, especially as he attempts to leave. I've served on juries, and in a court of law, there is absolutely an argument for self-defense here. Flimsy, maybe, but still not unreasonable. Or at best, this can be chalked up two idiots being two idiots.

u/GeeYayZeus 5h ago

The empty bottle she picked up later?

They're both idiots. Chill out.

Also, at what point does grabbing a drink quality as an "attack"? That's so fucking stupid. That would never hold up in court. Never.

u/jennifer_m13 6h ago

The drink in her face was assault. Are you talking about when she tried to grab his drink?

u/GeeYayZeus 6h ago

After he splashed her, she lunged at him. Splashing someone with a drink might technically be assault (though almost never results in any arrest or convictions), she physically escalated. He inappropriately escalated after that, but she started the aggressive physical contact.

I'm not excusing either of their behavior, I'm just saying it's not a clear case of 'lock him up for life' like all the armchair judges out there are clamoring for.

u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 5h ago

Does this mean when a woman throws a drink at a man, he is morally/legally in the right to attack her back? Or is that only true for her because she is a woman?

u/cockycrackers 5h ago

That sure seems to be this dude's MO. My favorite part is that he goes around making comments like this, and then complains that the people of reddit aren't fair to him. Good times...

u/Commercial_Wind8212 6h ago

Oh stop it. Honest to god just stop it

u/GeeYayZeus 6h ago

You stop it. Chill the fuck out. People fight. Get over it.

u/nooniewhite 4h ago

ACKTUALLY SHE STARTED IT fuck, man what?

u/GeeYayZeus 3h ago

Seriously, watch again. He goes to drink HIS drink. She grabs it. He splashes her with the drink (not the glass), and she lunges at him. He pushes her off him. She falls and is about to get back up, so he kicks her down. He's about the leave / retreat, and she comes at him grabs a bottle off the table to wield as a weapon.

He absolutely should never physically assault a woman, ever. However, in a court, she's not entirely innocent here, and there is potentially an element of self-defense.

Again, I'm not excusing any of this, but to me, it's more a case of two idiots being idiots rather than a crime where one gets locked away for life, as the Reddit lynch mob seems to want.

And note that we have no evidence that his was because of 'rejection' other than the potentially misleading Reddit headline when injects some extreme bias.

There's no clear audio. He was just drinking his drink when she grabbed it. Technically, that makes her the initial aggressor, but you're free to disagree.
