I am flying out of Marco Polo on Sunday, September 27 at ~6:00 a.m., so I am taking a hotel near (~ 5 min.) the airport the night before. I was hoping to take a train or bus on Saturday to the hotel from Venice, but now it looks that is not an option. All of my hotel bookings are already set, and I would also be bummed to leave a day early, so leaving on Friday is not really an option, unless the only alternative is being stranded.

What other transportation options are available to get from Venice to the mainland, if there is a general public transportation strike?

Any opinions / reputation about this jeweler?

I'm visiting Venice at the end of the month, staying in Mestre (arriving late Sunday 27th September, leaving early Saturday 3rd October).

The plan so far is to spend two days at the Biennale, a day trip to Bologna on the train, and the other two days exploring Venice.

I'm planning on getting the 7 day transport pass (with return airport bus), so would like to make the most of my access to the water busses. I'm looking for suggestions of places I can get to using this pass that are unusual or that are overlooked on the usual guides to Venice. Thanks!
