Anatolii Karpenko

92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Kosh Otaman Ivan Sirko

Sergeant Anatolii Karpenko, call sign Battalion Commander’s Brother, was from Kharkiv. He was the father of two sons. He defended the country as part of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade. Another Hero murdered by russian orcs.

Sergeant Anatolii Karpenko was born on May 26, 1981, in Kharkiv. He worked as a border guard and took part in the anti-terrorist operation in the east of the country. Later, he left the service for health reasons, but with the beginning of the full-scale war, he once again joined the defense of his homeland.

Anatolii held the position of squad commander and vehicle commander in the 2nd Battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Kosh Otaman Ivan Sirko.

On April 16, 2023, Anatolii, call sign Battalion Commander’s Brother, fell in the settlement of Khromove, Donetsk Oblast, as a result of enemy shelling. The defender was 41 years old.

“He went to defend his native land because he knew that freedom is not given — it is won. He never complained: no matter how hard it was under shelling, in cold trenches, or during exhausting shifts, for his loved ones he was always a rock. Lately, all his thoughts were about a peaceful tomorrow. He dreamed so much of going to the sea with his sons,” said his former wife Iryna.

It has not yet been possible to bury the defender’s body.

He is survived by his mother Nataliia and his sons Andrii and Dmytro.

Refugee Support ❤ Supporting Ukraine

Upvotes

I hope the flair is correct, I’m wondering if there is still anyway to support Ukraine from Canada. I know this question has probably been asked before several times, but is there a way to support Ukraine financially no matter how small? Decals, flags, shirts, hoodies, or other stuff that can be ordered with part of or all of the proceeds go to Ukraine for financial aid? It’s the only way I can support right now, I would love it if my money went to support Ukraine. Yes I am half Ukrainian. And am proud of it!

Slava Ukraini! ❤️

Discussion A Festival near Philadelphia

Post image
Upvotes

Today is a holiday in the USA (Labor Day).

My hubby, my friend, and I are at the Polish festival at Our Lady of Czestochowa, in the Philadelphia suburbs.

The last time I was here was a few months after the 2022 invasion, and in the section where people are selling things like crafts, shirts, etc., there were MANY, MANY pro-Ukrainian banners, shirts with slogans, flags, and so on.

I saw one man selling shirts with the slogan in Ukrainian and Cyrillic alphabet, “Russian warship, idi nakhui”, and I kind of laughed to think I’d see the day when shirts bearing that particular phrase would be sold at a massive Catholic shrine.

I didn’t let on, to the folks I was with that day, that I could read the shirt, nor what it said.

Anyway, the descendants of Polish immigrants in the USA clearly support, with great fervor, the people of Ukraine. They made that very clear at the festival in 2022. I haven’t made my way to the area with the crafts yet, but I fully expect I’ll see similar support there today.

Slava Ukraini! We might have a pack of fools in our government right now, but I assure you that the people of the USA support Ukraine.

Дякую! Thank you! A soldier from the 60th (not a recon team, though) thanks you for the $3800 worth of tacmed you sent his team.

This is from Arthur's soldier, who's so so grateful for everything you've supplied. He wants you to know two things:

  1. Not everything is shown here because some of it has already gone into the IFAKs of guys who are on a mission now.

  2. He is not in a recon team with the 60th.

You also provided that medical backpack and the boots, which is why he included them in the photo.

I want you to know that you see three junctional turniquets (in the brown bags that say SAM) rather than the two on the list because Protect A Volunteer sent them one as well. If you're the donor who bought that from the PAV wishlist: Thank you!

This is from Part 1 of my August delivery run. I ended up having to take 2/3 of it to Bergen four days after I got home from Ukraine because Lufthansa didn't let me fly with all of it, the jerks. I have a lovely friend there who runs in humanitarian aid, primarily for kids, and he agreed to take the rest of my stuff in with his for me. He just got it all into Ukraine and sent out to its recipients, so those photo reports should start pouring in shortly.

I need to give him a proper shoutout real quick. Having never met me in person, he agreed on VERY short notice not just to take my stuff in for me, but also to let me stay in his home for the single night I was there. He could have gone sooner, but he had to wait for me to get my stuff there; as a result, he spent four days traveling to Kyiv, then two days IN Kyiv, before turning around and going right back home. His name is Hasse Hellan and he is a champ and this is him.

Up next: Our general fund has taken a real beating this summer. Winter's coming on, so we need to prepare for that, and of course there are always more tacmed needs to fill.
