Anatolii Karpenko
92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Kosh Otaman Ivan Sirko
Sergeant Anatolii Karpenko, call sign Battalion Commander’s Brother, was from Kharkiv. He was the father of two sons. He defended the country as part of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade. Another Hero murdered by russian orcs.
Sergeant Anatolii Karpenko was born on May 26, 1981, in Kharkiv. He worked as a border guard and took part in the anti-terrorist operation in the east of the country. Later, he left the service for health reasons, but with the beginning of the full-scale war, he once again joined the defense of his homeland.
Anatolii held the position of squad commander and vehicle commander in the 2nd Battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Kosh Otaman Ivan Sirko.
On April 16, 2023, Anatolii, call sign Battalion Commander’s Brother, fell in the settlement of Khromove, Donetsk Oblast, as a result of enemy shelling. The defender was 41 years old.
“He went to defend his native land because he knew that freedom is not given — it is won. He never complained: no matter how hard it was under shelling, in cold trenches, or during exhausting shifts, for his loved ones he was always a rock. Lately, all his thoughts were about a peaceful tomorrow. He dreamed so much of going to the sea with his sons,” said his former wife Iryna.
It has not yet been possible to bury the defender’s body.
He is survived by his mother Nataliia and his sons Andrii and Dmytro.
