I install ubuntu 22.4.5 in my laptop. The installation is successful. But after that when I reboot the device then i got this problem.

What is the solution?

Hello All! I created an Ubuntu Server 26.04 autoinstaller with ZFS filesystems (including root) and CIS disk layout. I didn't see a way to install Ubuntu Server 26.04 with ZFS, so I made this project. I documented the process and uploaded a README and the configuration text files to GitHub. I did not apply any of the CIS security settings to the disks or any of the other CIS security settings, this is purely the CIS disk layout. Hope this is useful.

Why I did this? Well... it's funny and sad... I have to support some old Sun Solaris 10 and 11 servers at work, and I'm the only person on the team who has a least minimal Solaris knowledge, I needed something to practice on before touching a production Sun server. I did also buy an old Sun T4-1 from eBay for experimenting on the hardware side.

I moved over to a Kubuntu build after trying out some other Ubuntu flavors and one repeated problem i've been having is directional audio is way too sensitive (working a little too well?). I've got a Creative Sound Blaster Z SE and I've used QasMixer (alsamixer) alongside Pulseaudio (pipewire was giving me issues)

Works out just fine but it's way too sensitive or something, I'm not sure. Basically if something is on my left ear, the right side will be dead silence and vice versa. I need it mixed so the right side gives a little output. Back on windows it would be like a general area thing and wouldn't be blatantly one side. If I even remotely have an object slightly to the left of my screen it will be noticeably louder, and i need.

Say like normally if something was directly on my left side it would give like a 100% Left Output and 25% Right output but on here it's a 100% Left Output 0% Right Output if that makes sense. It's like diddling one of my ears anytime something isn't directly in front of me. If you've ever had some crappy dollar store earbuds where one side died off that's the experience anytime something isn't directly in front of me. This applies to just about anything audio-wise whether it's a video or a game. This isn't unusable I've been doing fine but it's REALLY getting on my nerves the more it happens to me.

I've been having difficulties figuring out how to fix this because everything I've tried so far hasn't done jack. I'm hoping it's something simple like "sudo apt install ThingTheFixesMyExactIssue" so i can stop dying over something that should be an easy fix (the usual linux experinece)

I've: Messed with the Surround Channel Config, Enabled/Disabled OutFX (toggles anything under FX:), toggled the Full-Range options, Equalizer, Messing with any slider that would probably relate to my issue, and some other stuff.

Edit: Using pipewire as well now to add options to however i could fix this

I'm considering switching to Ubuntu GNOME, but privacy is one of my concerns.

I know Ubuntu's telemetry can be disabled/opted out. My questions are:

1. If Ubuntu telemetry is completely disabled, does Ubuntu still send any usage/system data to Canonical?
2. Are there any background services that communicate with Canonical even when telemetry is disabled?
3. Does Snap/Snap Store collect any information independently of Ubuntu's telemetry?
4. Since some parts of the Snap ecosystem are closed-source, how can users verify exactly what data is being sent?
5. Is there any documented network traffic that Ubuntu sends to Canonical for reasons other than updates, package downloads, Snap functionality, crash reports, etc.?
6. If I remove/disable Snap and turn off all optional telemetry, is Ubuntu reasonably privacy-friendly?

I'm not asking whether Ubuntu is "spyware" in the sensational sense. I'm trying to understand exactly what data leaves the machine and what can be disabled.

I'd especially appreciate answers from people who have actually monitored Ubuntu's network traffic (Wireshark, tcpdump, OpenSnitch, etc.).

So I've ran into multiple issues where the game I'm playing stops visually updating (screen freeze) but I can move or interact based on sound cues. Is there a way to monitor some system stuff to see what the problem could be? I ran steam in the terminal and it didn't show any issues, so I think its either graphic card related or proton but I'm just guessing. Any help would be appreciated.

Which torrent clients are you using? I prefer simple ones like Transmission or Fragments, but even if you're using another client like qBittorrent or anything else, I'd like to hear what your experience with that client has been like on Ubuntu 25.10, or 26.04 and later.

The clients I've been using have been kinda broken since version 25.10. They work, but there are several bugs caused by AppArmor policies. Putting AppArmor in permissive mode solves (rather works around) the issues, but I'd like to hear how others deal with it, or if they're using different clients that work well.

I installed Ubuntu 26.04.1 yesterday. And since then the App Centre will not load the Manage apps section. I can open the sections like search, productivity and featured etc and install apps. But the "Manage" sections is just loading. As shown in the screenshot, there's 5 notification (updates I'm guessing) but the page will not load.

Also, did atp update in terminal, but it said everything is up-to-date.

I used to use fedora to run as a firefox browser for certain projects. I would run it on a hosting platorm (digital ocean) and connect remotely via x2go. All I had to do was create a fedora image on digital ocean and the only requirement was to type this command in the command line: dnf install -y firefox x2go*

How do I replicate this on ubuntu? What command what do the same as dnf install -y firefox x2go* ?

i didn't find extension manager or anything similar to this. does anyone has resources to learn all the customisation stuff?

So i was playing on steam and Ubuntu crashed and when i tried to load, it didn't work, it happened before and i would always open recovery and repair broken packages and It would work, but now If recovery would even load i tried to fix it like before and it didn't work.

What happens is that when i open any version other than the recovery modes it would load normally and suddenly It switches to this screen with some option like pressing ctrl-D and enter like i did in the picture but It simply doesn't do anything.

(Sometimes the recovery mode does work and when i try to do the thing i did before the second picture happens, also the part in portuguese says "command not found")

So I tried to install ubuntu through UNetbootin, I installed Ubuntu Desktop through the official website then went in Unetbootin selected hard disk and in the ... section I put the Ubuntu download. I rebooted and get the option between windows 11 or UNetbootin which is normal but when I click Unetbootin I get this message. What am I supposed to do?(Note: When I select windows 11 it is normal)

I work natively in Linux every day. I recently installed Ubuntu to try and mess around with some local llm things for a funzies.

I just want to say 26.04 has been an amazing experience. I've used many different distros and versions of linux over the last 15 years, and this is the one that has just clicked as a daily driver, not just work and pure functionality.

My 4k 144hz monitor connects with no issues.

Bluetooth just works. It's plain better than what windows offers.

Settings have been clear and easy to navigate for what I need.

Video drivers have had no issues for R9700 AI Pro 32GB

ROCM, lemonade, and all the things I wanted to try out for local llms have been great. There's some optimizations I need to make but that's part of the learning experience.

Steam install and using proton is just seamless from my window experience so far.

I know there's a lot of communities working together to make this all happen, and I wanted to show appreciation. Thank you everyone for all the progress that has been made over the years.

When I shut down Ubuntu, the system reaches the Ubuntu logo/shutdown screen, but then it freezes and never actually powers off. I have to hold down the power button to turn it off. Interestingly, it seems to reboot properly. Anyone knows how I can fix this? Thank you in advance.

Is there any convenient alternative to AOMEI Backupper that allows storing backups via SMB on a NAS and performing a system restore directly from the OS without messing around with a USB flash drive?

Recently, I notice terrible performance when I'm streaming games using moonlight which I had no such issue when running Windows on the same machine. I did my research and found out that "wpa_supplicant" is used for wifi backend by default. For Intel cards, "iwd" is newer and better. After I changed NetworkManager to use iwd for wifi backend, my issue was fixed.

Install iwd

sudo apt update && sudo apt install iwd

Add the following text to config file

sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/wifi-backend.conf

[device]
wifi.backend=iwd

Reboot

If you have done everything right, you will need to reconnect your wifi by entering the password again.

Brand new Ubuntu 26.04 install. Using LibreOffice Calc. I want to change a graph, so this window pops up. I want to move it a little out of the way - and the entire Calc window behind moved with it!

1. How do I move the dialog without moving the window behind?

2. Who in their right minds would think that this behaviour is desirable, and should therefore be the default?
