Just a quick explanation of the premium zones

I am seeing a ton of anger and confusion on these zones so I just wanted to help clear thing up.

Premium zones are a purchased function for that awards double points for double the fuel cost. In other words it’s a payed option for endurance events to make them more like mayhem events.

This has zero impact on on anyone. It doesn’t help scoring at all so it is not “pay to win”

I still think it is a lame addition and seems silly. But I am just tired of all the people saying things it is not.

It changes nothing about the game, it is just another silly option for those who want to spend on it. Similar to how they have garbage bundles often it’s just an option to ignore.

Are they still doing mayhem events or have those been replaced with this? If it was replaced with a paid option, I can understand the frustration.

No they have not been replaced. I believe they added this since there is a chunk of the player base that prefers endurance, but the majority like mayhem better. So they probably figured they could keep both going but get people to pay during endurance events.

We will still have mayhem events, this is just another option for when they hold and endurance event.

I thought people were well aware of this being double the stamina for double the points, but I imagine there are some who don't know this.

The deeper rooted problem is (or at least to my understanding) people want to reduce playtime on these grindy weekend events. Mayhem mode was the provided solution to this, however this mode is not consistently available. Resulting in some weekends to be a frustrating grind if you want to score well or other weekends being much easier to score well with less time played. I believe many want mayhem to be a always on option for events to reduce play time on the weekend.

Instead now they offer a a pay to win version which makes the game slightly faster but not as fast as mayhem mode. And yes I do still consider this pay to win as it is much easier to do 5 battles instead of 10 battles which for some players will result in them scoring more points.

I mean everything is pay to win in mobile games it’s just the extent. Premium zones is far less impactful per dollar than just buying fuel cells.

That said I agree and I would love if every event was mayhem. But I think it’s clear that won’t happen, so this really changes nothing. It’s similar to all the other bundles in the game.

To me this just comes off as tone deaf or money grubbing by the developers. Something people want as part of the base game that they sometimes give us, then they make a paid version which is really in your face the whole event.

I would be more surprised if the general community wasn't upset than being upset about this.

But you are right that mobile games are essentially trying to earn money. Thing is, too aggressive with monetization can turn players away and it really seems like the Developers have slowly getting worse overtime.

My thing is on paper this is nothing next to most things. Sure it feels worse because it’s very in your face, but the devs have already mentioned the ui for it so it’s likely going to be fixed.

I just find it kinda funny because all the free to play are complaining about it but I thought the opposite, it’s a terrible deal for most money spenders. There are far better options out there to get ahead with money. It’s only really helpful for whales.

This is exactly what I am trying to clear up. It still is free, the event you are talking about is mayhem events, this change is to endurance events. They are not the same event, we are losing nothing.

Still is, premium battle zones don’t actually help scoring in events at all. All it does is make the battles quicker. Even with buying it, it takes just as many fuel cells to get the same score.

From the TFEW Discord: "We wanted to clarify a few things following the first run of Premium Battle Zones and some of the feedback we’ve seen.

Firstly, Premium Battle Zones are not replacing Mayhem. There are no changes planned to Mayhem as a result of this feature. Mayhem will continue to exist as an event format alongside Premium Battle Zones.

Premium Battle Zones are an additional event option designed to offer an alternative way to progress through events. This first run has given us an opportunity to see how the feature performs in a live environment and understand how players interact with it.

We’ve taken on board the feedback around the bundle, the Battle Zone UI and how Premium zones are presented alongside standard zones. This feedback will form part of our review alongside the data we’ve collected. That doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll make immediate changes based on the feedback we receive, but it is important in helping us evaluate the feature as we continue to test it.

We’re also investigating reports that Premium Battle Zones became unavailable before the event itself ended. This was not the intended experience. If we (or when shall I say) confirm players were affected, we’ll look at appropriate compensation and ensure the issue is addressed for future runs.

We’ve also seen the discussion around Return Skip costs. These scale alongside the increased progression available within Premium Battle Zones. We’ll continue to review the overall experience and how the different elements of the feature work together as we learn from this first run.

Ultimately, this was our first test of Premium Battle Zones. We’ll continue looking at the data and feedback, address any unintended issues we identify, and use what we’ve learned to inform future runs.

Thank you! I definitely felt like the situation was overblown. In the end, the event was the same as usual, it's just that you could chose to spend some money to be able to finish it faster/easier.

Yeah, I never mind people sharing their thoughts or criticism, but I hate when it is from a knee jerk reaction born out of confusion.

Granted the communication in game on this feature is poor, but still wanted to clear things up since this feels pretty harmless.

Just maybe remove the visual for it if it’s not bought so it’s not taking up half the event screen.
