While Spencer still has time to change, it has been a bit of a disappointing start for Arrighetti's first four appearances with the Blue Jays 😬

Keeping in mind this is written with the frustration of a 1 am loss:

You are meant to be mad at umpires. No, really. If an umpire makes a bad call, you're allowed to be frustrated.

If a player screws up, costs the team a run or a base, there are immediate consequences in play because that's the game. The players are playing. The umpires are not. They are meant to be right. Yes, challenges exist and should be rationed because umps are people too, and yes, today's game was terrible for preserving challenges. However, there is such thing as bad calls and bad umps and that's a fair thing to get a little angry with since they're not the ones suffering the consequences of those

mistakes.

No, umpires do not single-handedly cause losses, but they are the only ones out their that can seriously affect results without either of the teams doing anything wrong. That's where the anger at them stems from, the sense of unfairness. Loss due to errors sucks, but we bitch and moan and move on. Loss partially due to miscalls is a whole other beast because it feels like an insult to our team. It feels as if the loss was not earned.

So, be mad at the umps. Don't threaten them. Don't insult them as people. Just be a little pissy. Acknowledge there is lots of fault to go around, but the players are all suffering the consequnce of a loss for theirs that the umpire isn't, so we get to be a bit more mad at their bad calls.

I am one of the first to criticize the front office on their signings, trades and Assignment trades. Initially, I was not happy when they traded Gausman, for a bunch of parts... so I thought.

I get the smart decision was to move on from Guas and get what you could for him. At the time the Jays were struggling.

But the impressive early returns of Bateman have really quieted my criticism. As well as the addition of Soriano to find a solid starter given the depth issues with SP.

I hereby take back the negative thoughts and words about the front office for a short period. It actually seems like they know what they are doing, and have better baseball IQ than I do on my couch.

Went to hangout with friends for a fantasy football draft and one of my friends handed me these bad boys! He was able to get these when he went to a game awhile back. I was completely speechless. Blue Jays fan in Texas so hard for me to attend home games haha.

Any other Jays fans not in Toronto having any luck getting 50th season merch outside of the Jays shop? I’ve been waiting and hoping that local places in Saskatoon get in some hats but they only ever have jerseys. There’s so much cool stuff I see in the Jays shop and none of it ever gets put up online.
