Just kidding, we're fighting their war again, and paying 100% of the costs. As always.
(I guess the silver lining is they're using the distraction to help steal land and natural gas from another of their neighbors in Lebanon.)

Dont forget, theres only two reasons to join the military post WWII; Blind tradition and dire poverty.
Half of them joined because they WANTED to fight and kill like their parents. Half joined because they needed money more than they valued their own life (or the lives of others theyd be called to kill).
Im not saying they deserved their treatment, but if you openly sign up for the military, grueling conditions under the president were to be fully expected and they shouldnt have been shocked. I wonder if we will finally see a real drop in enrollment after some of these recent mistreatings come to light?

Because in general people who join are those impoverished or undereducated families that are looking to get out, sell their body and safety for it. By saying support the troop I hear more support the individual who made sacrifices other normally dont to try and get a better life, their return home safely, and their continued care medical and mental after they pledge their life to someone else.
Not everything the military gets into, or at least used to get into, is manifest destiny of the world.

Know the soldiers and sailors are only doing what they are ordered. It is the leaders of our countries whom are the ones to end the fighting.Please know I will keep you in my prayers and I hope you will join me in praying that understanding, agreement and wisdom are bestowed upon our leaders to end the war and all sides are able to stand down.

My nephews enlisted during the Obama administration. It wasn't because they were pro obama. Its because it pays for healthcare for life, housing assistance and college. They didn't enlist for politics. They enlisted because it got them out of the backwoods.

The world has been militarized for quite some time. Since the dawn of civilization.
Lets not forget, we are having this discussion on the new tool of cold warfare. Its called social media. Every click. Every scroll. Just having the app on the phone is making some tech oligarch rich. Its actively funding said wars. And yet, in the us...military service is the best option for survival for some of us. Those of us on our devices at the moment are choosing to do this, for free.

Carrier group. Carriers never travel alone, especially Nimitz class (the ones with multiple runways). While they are not helpless when alone they are far too valuable to travel unprotected. They are the core with layers of other ships (even a pair of attack subs) to provide a layered defense and support. So to move the USS George Washington from the Pacific fleet to the Middle East is a huge deal. It's involved coordinating the move of dozens of ships and subs and the logistics of their supply lines.
And the USS Abraham Lincoln has a crew of 5000+.
I am in no way supporting this stupid fucking war or administration. But I feel we should be accurate and not as glib as the fuckheads in charge

No, they could not.
That’s the thing about supply. They were doing just that until the local supply source was bombed out. Now instead of “just in time” supply, they are waiting 2 weeks or more because resupply now comes from Diego Garcia and other points further. Compare this to the food/lumber supply during covid.
the problem is cargo capacity, the need to front-load the aircraft and ships to stop the bleed, and increasing tempo to meet ongoing needs.
These take time to spin up. They’re catching up, but it’s going to take time.
When I was out there, we resupplied every 3 days. Food resupply was less frequent because we had the intact infrastructure in Bahrain. The food still sucked even then.
I’m betting most of the people on the surrounding ships are making fun of the crew because it sucks for everyone until the logistics are worked out.
I don’t know if the Navy uses MRE’s (we didn’t) but that would be a great idea rn
Now the sewage issue I am very familiar with. Sad to see it still happens, but I guarantee that’s not happening in all the heads

We had similar issues but on a smaller scale and spread out among various ships and shore installations. The difference is the ability of sailors to interface with social media and the inability of senior leadership to cage the discussion. Social media is an open sewer that ignores context.

Was he advocating for his crew or just another piece of shit that was only acting In his own self interest? Of course the answer is the ladder. I’ve worked under people like that my whole life. The crew should have mutinied and threw his ass overboard. This shit actually has my blood boiling.

The last captain that I heard actually giving a shit was Capt Crozier from the TR back during COVID and Trump was very keen on booting his ass for speaking out. The CO I had on the carrier during shipyard was Capt. Paradise who genuinely cared for the crew but wasn't worthy of a star in the eyes of the Navy.
Then we got Capt. Miller and Capt. Jackson as XO, who went hard on the paint with the whole America's Favorite Carrier bullshit (unofficial nickname of the Carl Vinson), volunteered us to deploy 2 months early, ran man overboard drills during an underway daily until we were below 12 minutes (timeline requirements dictate no more than 20 minutes and he would have the bridge call them out as if they were real, which is falsifying an emergency), XO was subtle about his racism and only pretended to care about the crew because he was getting one-upped by our Hispanic CMC, and would play the Friday song every fucking Friday on deployment.
I got long winded because it brought up some pent up anger I had on that ship, but I lost faith in decent triads on carriers back in '22.

As a vet I sympathize with the sailors, soldiers and Marines dealing with this. However, part me giggled when this first got out. The shit that would have rained down on the individuals complaining about their rations when I was in the service would have been something to behold. The thought of my wife or mother going on national television showing pictures of what I found objectionable during a deployment, I feel for those lads and ladies. I'm sure they paid dearly for it. You do not want to be the loose lips.

Yeah, like yeah, that deployment was shitty as fuck. That long at sea without a port call must have been driving them fucking insane. But you are right, whichever sailor this is bitching, they are going to get DESTROYED by their chain of command. Permanent bitch duty until their contract is up. Might even end up going to Leavenworth, like that poor guy who took pictures on a submarine to show his family. I kind of don't actually believe the person posting this though. Talking about main engine issues slowing down their return to port but they fixed it at sea. I served in reactor department on an aircraft carrier. That's bullshit. I'm calling it right now that's straight bs, probably some skittle from the flight deck who doesn't know jack shit about how things operate down there.

I was making a joke as someone who took 3 showers in a year while living in a 130° tent in a middle of a war zone, with no running water, no laundry, no food besides 2 year old meat out of a bag, no electricty, never had ac, called home 3 times in a year, no internet, no wifi, had less than 14 days off in over a year, ect… chill unless you know which it sounds like you dont.

Engine issues? What fucking engine issues, it's nuclear powered. Were the reduction gears broken? Steam turbine? That's not something they can even start to think of fixing while at sea, so it wasn't that. I'm calling bullshit. EDIT: I worked in the "engine room" (it's actually called the MMR or main machinery room) on an aircraft carrier. The only thing that could be referred to as the "engine" would be the main engine reduction gears maybe or one of the two steam turbines in each MMR that spin power the reduction gears to turn the shafts. You can't open and work on the reduction gears at sea, it's not something they would do, they are leased by Westinghouse and require very strict cleanliness controls to work on them. It's just not something they would do at sea, period. So that's ruled out. So what else could be the "engine" issues? The reactor itself? Because they sure as shit aren't going to shut down one of the reactors for longer than a day or so at sea, and not during flight ops at all. The turbines? Because both of those (or four of those if you want to count both MMRs), in similar fashion, can't be worked on at sea. If the reactor had issues, it would need a major workup. If the turbines were out for anything worse than clogged condensers or some shit like that, it would also need workups that aren't possible out at sea. The rest might be true, but engine issues is such total bullshit.
If your source was someone outside of reactor department, they should probably stfu about "engine issues".

So a country that is supposed to be among the best if not the best at logistics, failed at that? The average combat ship in WWII spent 30 days at sea. The average warship now spends 90 days at sea. I am excluding subs because they are designed to spend extended periods at sea up to and including a year. You have one of the most expensive pieces of machinery ever designed and built that is supposed to be the showpiece of your navy and you can not support it? How much does this damage your own self-image, if not your reputation? Maybe they should change the name to Kuznetsov II.
