Is the UN going to prosecute me for the equal area projection on my wall?
What would even change if the USA voted for it?
I’m sure any industry that relies on mapping will continue to use whichever projection suits them best.
I’m at a complete loss as to why this is newsworthy because there is so much missing context.
Edit: After some further research it seems that this would affect maps displayed in government institutions.

I get the intention, I support the decision, but I don’t think most tourists go to government agencies to plan a holiday.
I support the idea, but I wish the reporting actually explained what this would affect so we can all have more informed opinions on the matter.
