Recommendations The Flash Reading Order (collected edition) ⚡️
The days of asking for a reading order for The Flash are over!
I’ve put together a full collected edition reading order that I will update regularly as new stuff comes out. The list also links to a single issue reading order if you want to go that route (WARNING: it’s long asf and literally crashes my phone when I scroll too fast)
Let me know if y’all see any key trades I missed and I’ll add them! ⚡️

Barry/The Flash and Rogues drawn by Jeff Lemire
I love Lemire's art style, I'd love to see him draw an issue of Absolute Flash.

Discussion The flash can’t catch a break
DC really can’t give these guys Barry and Wally a break.
First Thawne kills iris, then Barry’s next relationship doesn’t work out and he dies alone and dies a painfully death.
Then in the time he’s gone, his successor surpasses him and is widely considered as the best Flash, which didn’t happen with his friend Hal Jordon.
He finally comes back but can’t seem to find his place in the world. Then he starts turning into black flash.
Then he finds out his mom and dad are dead. (Yes I know it was retconned to always be that way)
Then he finds out that his mom has to die in order for the world to not go to hell.
Meanwhile with Wally, he gets lost in the speed force. Then he gets back and has serious relationship problems with Linda.
Then gets lost 1000s of years in the future where Linda kinda sorta cheats on him with the flash from the flash from 27th century (I’m forgetting his name) although not really because Linda thought he was dead.
Then he loses Linda to black flash.
Then later on zoom kills their unborn child. Then they get them back only to get thrown into the speed force.
And when they come back, he’s all happy until he finds out Bart is dead.
Then in the new 52 and they fuck with him by erasing him completely.
He finally comes back after 5 years only to have his kids erased and his wife doesn’t remember him.
Then he gets to get written by tom king.
He finally gets Dr. M’s powers and fixes reality.
You think that they would give Wally a solo run then carry out the plan that DC had with Flash post flashpoint. You know? Giving them the Geoff Johns GL treatment right? Maybe try a flash family companion series and you can switch between Barry and Wally being the center focus of the main flash tittle?
WRONG!!!
They now decide to fuck with Barry. They have him lost along side the other hero’s during dark crisis.
Then he losses iris in one minute war. Sure she was brought back but Barry didn’t know that at the time.
Then Mark Waid (Who I love and think has the greatest flash run of them all) comes along and fucks him over by getting rid of his powers.
Then they put him in retirement and although Barry is less ok with it then he says you could still say… ok let him rest for a bit. Maybe he could marry iris. They could even have Don and Dawn maybe? And then after a little bit he would get his powers back. Right?
WRONG
Mark Waid comes back and fucks him even more by having time messed with so he doesn’t become the flash and sorta of, not really retcons the Barry being struck by lightning on the Og earth creating the speedforce concept which kinda strips him his importance to the flash lore. Although it was more of an implied retcon rather than a definitive one.
Then after all of that, and time gets fixed…..
They put him in witness protection in one of the more recent GL comics.
The flash really is DC’s spiderman.

Discussion DCU Flash
Am I the only one who thinks the discussion behind who should be the main DCU flash is dumb.
Like there’s only one obvious answer. Especially since general audiences matters.
At the start it should be Barry as flash and Wally as kid flash.
There should a trilogy of flash movies with Barry at the center.
Movie one should be a born to run adaptation. Where Barry is established to be a hero for a while, roughly a decade. Wally becomes KF. They fight ether mirror master(like in born to run) or the rogues. Wally not listening to Barry but Barry reveals his identity to him and tells they have to work together. Wally should be around 16-18
Movie two should have the main villain be gorilla grodd.
Movie three should be about reverse flash.
Then Barry should die. Either he gets lost in the speed force fighting thawne. Or he dies a JL film. I prefer that one because it’s more grand. Just like it was in the comics. Then Wally takes up the mantle.
Wally will also appear in the teen titans/titans movie they are coming out with. And any sequels. While Barry appears in JL movies. This is so they could build their relationship with characters on those teams. Barry and Bruce, Barry and Hal if they go green lantern rebirth, Wally and dick, Wally and Roy, etc.
Wally’s run as the flash in the DCU should be a show. Each season should be base on a different flash run/story.
Season 1 is based on his 1986-1992 run. Where he grows into a better person.
Season 2 should adapt return of Barry Allen.
Season 3 should adapt terminal velocity and dead heat.
Season 4 should adapt rogue war.
Season 5 should adapt blitz.
This way both Barry and Wally fans can be happy. It doesn’t make sense to start with Wally as flash since understanding his love for Barry and his idealization of him is important. Especially for general audiences.
Remember, general audiences think of the flash as Barry Allen and Barry Allen only. Just having Wally West be the flash will screw the movie over financially.
Barry and Wally should act the way they do during the silver and Bronze Age.
Meaning Barry will be a quippy jokester. Just like in the silver age because contrary to popular belief Barry was always a quippy jokester. Idk why so many people think he stole Wally’s personality because he quips and makes jokes.
Anyway. What do you think of my flash DCU plan?

The flash
Me and a couple of friends are kinda making a so called library full of comics and one of the ones we all wanted to read was the flash. We don’t quite know much about the flash when it comes to comics so i wanted to ask a couple of peoples opinions. If u can give some great advice and also if u know any other good hero recommendations then that would also be appreciate.

DCEU Spoilers Is Wally West still in the Justice League Unlimited book? After making a big deal about leaving the Titans, I don't particularly feel like he is used all that much in JLU (Titans #16)

What are yall thoughts on Ace west?
Hey, i am an actor. My dream is to be the next kid flash on film, or TV, or whatever. I’ve been a flash fan for a long time (as long as I can remember) and I am coming to the flash community to ask, what are yall thoughts on Ace west? Do y’all think he is a good character? What do you wish you can change differently? What do you like? I want to know thoughts. Do you think he would translate well on film? If so what needs to be changed? I saw stuff about how his name, backstory, but could yall elaborate? I am just asking to take notes. I srsly think one day I could

Showcase Flash-themed Birthday Haul
My birthday was yesterday but I was in class the whole day, so I only got to go out and splurge this morning. Currently I’m in Chile for a semester abroad, and have been trying to find all the best stuff for my collection as a Barry Allen superfan but OVNIPress (major argentinian editorial) seems to only print Post-Crisis material and I’ve already got everything from Flash: Rebirth up to Williamson’s Flash. Depending on my mood I may go back for the Flashpoint, Road to Flashpoint, Flash: Rebirth, and Flash: Year One pocket editions later
