Hi all,

I was offered an interview at PNC for a Personal Banker role in a HCOL area. My ultimate goal has been eventually getting into Wealth Management. Some people in that sphere have told me that just getting into a bank in any position is a great first step. Could I get advice as to if taking this job would be the best step for my career? And if anyone has experience in this exact role or with PNC at all, how is it? Thanks!

i’ve reached my breaking point. i’ve been an itm teller at my cu for almost 2 years and im so over it and it’s not for me.

my cu is basically disguised as a bank at this point. when i first started, it was actually caring about the members need and referring when it truly beneficial for the member. now, it’s all about referring so i don’t get in trouble and hearing nagging from my management.

my cu has become so sales aggressive. on top of my management that’s totally much less to be desired. i was treated like i was a liar for calling out due to myself having covid last week. i’m so over the culture of my cu too. i’m not a salesman… i would’ve become a salesman if that’s what i wanted to do.

this place has destroyed the passion that i had for making banking my career. i’m in college majoring in business administration with the hopes of growing in banking. now i don’t even want to do it.

the job market is so tough so i have to work but it’s so rough when i’m already so miserable. i do like the non management coworkers that i work with. they make it tolerable.

before i worked at my cu i was at chick-fil-a for almost 3 years and sometimes i honestly wish i would’ve stayed.

im only 23 and im trying to figure out what i want to do with my life. i dont know what i want to do….

sometimes i wish i would’ve went into the healthcare field like my mom but with the way my bills are structured i need to work full time so it would be hard doing clinicals and such.

Would role pays more and is better for future career growth? Being a financial solutions advisor at Merrill Lynch or a Sr Premier Banker at Wells Fargo? How much better is having the series 7 as an FSA?

Looking to get into Premier at WF. Would you recommend this role? How stressful is it? Specially now that WF is starting to roll out sales goals again?

I mean with salary alone I would be looking close to $100k/year.

Hello, I've been a relationship banker for a major bank for about 5 years now, and enjoy it for the most part, however I have been eyeing moving into either credit or fraud analysis. Does anyone have any advice for skills needed or expectations for those positions?

Basically the title. I do not feel ready for the transition this Tuesday, and I haven’t spoken to a single banker, teller, or branch manager that feels prepared. Everyone seems stressed out, overwhelmed, and totally unequipped to start servicing clients under Fifth Third.

The training they gave us was nearly impossible to complete, given that there was no reprieve from our normal sales goals (in typical retail banking fashion). Even if I did have the opportunity to dedicate the 90-120 hours necessary to fully complete the training, I highly doubt I’d internalize most of it.

I predict that there will be mass turnover among Comerica branch employees over the coming months.

Does anyone have a different opinion?

Hi everybody, I took a job in retail banking after graduating with a Finance degree last year around this time. Overall solid experience I have been able to sell products and I am currently in the top 15% in terms of production.

Despite everything I truly hate retail banking with a passion. Dealing with constant pressure of selling more, difficult customers and a slightly toxic branch has taken a real toll. Looking at the lives of my RB and BM, I know that besides learning how to sell there are no actual skills that can be gained moving up within the retail banking sector (they may say things like I know how to process loans) but in all reality I do not believe any skills are being gained.

I let the my manager know that I was interested in moving to Commercial Banking (my thought process is the credit analyst role so I can gain technical skills and not have to sell all of the time) but since then he has been hanging incentives over me as a form of leverage example “you need to try to open business accounts and get business credit cards” that is what will get you into commercial. He is also pushing me to try and sell more products and in a way I can’t believe doing more of what I hate will lead me to the goal.

Any thoughts on what I should do from this point?

Has anyone else who works for an FI who gets Zelle from Fiserv notice how it seems like every single thing is resulting in a restricted hold nowadays?

Adding a contact? Restricted hold

Sending another transfer within five minutes? Restricted hold

I know they are being cautious because EWS is making provides and FIs more and more liable for losses, but its so frustrating the amount of times I have override holds.

Hi everyone! I’ve been working at a big bank for a little over a year now and I think I’m finally done and want to completely move outside of retail or even a new industry entirely. Yesterday I have a difference. Not much, I was just short $5. The problem is… so was my peer only she was over $5. Naturally when you see this you would think that we had a transaction together, but we didn’t. Not for $5. Once both of us attempted to balance and we realized our outage neither one of us were willing you simply offset eachother because we both know we didn’t do anything for that amount. Fast forward, our manager finds out about what’s going on. I say finds out because to be transparent we really like to keep our outages amongst ourselves unless we’re certain because he is very.. well antagonizing. He doesn’t make the situation better at all and never offers to help he just adds salt to the wound. Anyways, he finds out and immediately starts playing the blame game. “You guys should’ve done a buy sell” “yall do it to yourselves” “don’t have an attitude because you’re wrong”. Keep in mind I told him me and my coworker did no transaction for $5. And the one we DID do I know for sure was correct because it was coin that couldn’t even equal up to $5. After hearing him start the bullshit, I mentally check out. My coworker said that he would count my box to verify (standard procedure) but my manager pulls him away and says “I’m not worried about that’s let’s do xyz..”. My coworker was also being counted down by another peer and he pulled her away aswell. So clearly he did not care about our boxes being counted even though this is something we do anytime ANYONE has a difference. We also have someone go over transactions with us to see if we can spot anything. My coworker highlighted that previously the system had done this to him and another peer and it was most likely a system glitch. My manager was not trying to hear this. This man goes: “I’m not paying yall overtime for $5 post the difference and sign off” I was over it. I did exactly that. This pisses me off but I want to know where I went wrong at if I went wrong? Because I think I’m going to email his manager because to me this feels dismissive and unprofessional. Let me know.

I was recently hired for chase bank, I have some investment accounts, how long do I have to disclose my brokerage accounts? I don't know where to find that page. does anyone know here? I have to go back to work to be able to see some of the websites.

I have an interview for a teller position and am trying to be as prepared as possible.

Today I was watching my teller help a sweet but absolutely batty old lady who had some kind of nebulous issue with online banking. She has a praying mantis on her head. Finally one of the other tellers says, "I don't mean to scare you, but you have a praying mantis on your head."

Her response? "Oh good, I was worried about him."

She had been gardening earlier and saw it, then lost track of it and worried it got squished.

After she left we watched through the window as she spent probably five minutes trying to gently get him to climb off her hand and into our bushes. Too pure for this world.

(I'm moving into a back office position in Commercial in a few weeks and I absolutely cannot wait, but I also will miss all of my sweet regulars.)

I've been a bank teller for almost 3 years now. I just wanna be in the Audit Area or Deposit Operations. I'm just worried about going to a new environment and scared I might mess up or regret it. I love my co workers and I just wanna earn more and be in the back office. I'm just not sure if there's a chance for me to go in that route. I know for Audit they require a certification and I don't have it. Trying to apply internally.

bank of america global risk analyst summer internship superday just happened when will results come?

This is a little bit of venting, but I am also curious to hear how others out there manage this. I am just getting so fed up with dealing with dumb members/clients who weaponize their incompetence. I work at a CU call center and I just feel like people are getting dumber and lazier every year. We provide so many self service tools and people will just refuse to engage with them and then have the audacity to complain about your wait times or that the non-self-serve options have a service fee.

Example: we charge a fee if they choose to pay their loan over the phone with us from an external account, but there is no fee to do it online (with either card or ACH). Our system even supports Apple/Google pay online! But inevitably the call comes in “I just don’t have time” “It’s too hard and I can’t figure it out but no I don’t have time for you to walk me through it” “You are going to charge me a fee to pay my loan? That’s outrageous!”

Anyways, it is getting to a point where even I am starting to get escalated with members (I hate to admit it but I was a bit rude to one member today). And I am one of the reps who is in charge of handling escalation calls!!! I am contemplating a career change to a back office roll, but until that can happen I need to manage in my current role. What do you all do to cope with these feelings? What are your strategies? I just got back from some PTO and I am right back to where I was before-hand with the burnout.

Del diario checo los portales de empleo de los bancos así como linkedin y envió mensaje a reclutadores con mi CV para que se interesen de alguna manera. Consejos para que tenga más posibilidades de contratación en patrimonial.

I am in a bit of a dilemma here and need some advice…

I have been in banking just over two years now and constantly preform in the 80th percentile and above for the bank I work at. My numbers are mid-high and I always reach my monthly goals. However, the bank I work for keeps doing these cheesy contests where they entice employees to get more of a specific product. The contest we had last month was “Sizzlin Summer Savings ☀️!” Which was a contest to see who could open the most savings accounts for the month of August. The winner received a $25 budget to buy snacks for the break room…

We couldn’t care less about the lame prize but my manager is very competitive and hates to lose to other branches. So, he puts intense pressure on us to win.

There is one guy at my branch who is a genuine shyster. He talks anybody into anything and is pretty ruthless about it too. He is often praised by management but I find his practices to be unethical…

So, now I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, if I don’t perform I get lectured and if I be like my coworker and be more pushy, aggressive, and cut corners than I risk being accused of deceiving or misleading customers. I know I don’t want to go that route but sometimes I feel pushed to act that way in order to produce. What should I do?

At the small community bank that I work at with only a 4 state footprint, the branch I’m at, I constantly face disrespect because I’m the only male banker while the rest are female. Many times male customers have something bad to say about me or flat out ignore me because they rather see a “pretty lady”. I try my best to move forward but I won’t deny it gets to me some days because while sure the female employees get remarks made to them, I on the other hand miss out on building relationships with customers because they refuse to talk to a guy, or at least one like me.

i was really sick at the beginning of this year. i toughed it out for a couple months, but at the end of march, i could barely function. i have FMLA from when i was sick last year so i took 2 weeks off. that’s all they would allow at once without short term disability. luckily, i did feel a little better when i went back to work. the doctors never figured out what made me so sick :/

i came back to work in the first week of april. my health was still rough. i was getting migraines at least once a week, which meant i had to leave work early each time. i had called out 2 or 3 times since i got back in april. i hadn’t requested any days off

my health is still rough. i have a benign tumor in my brain and blind spots in my vision. that’s the most concerning thing right now. so i put in for time off so i can go to appointments all in a couple of days, instead of having to come in early or leave late or take a long lunch. i just wanted to do it all at once, as well as have a couple of days to decompress from work

my manager pulls me into her office on monday and says that i can’t take any unpaid days off since i used all my PTO earlier this year. mind you… i was sick. bedridden at home. further into the conversation, she lets me know it’s mainly because another coworker had made a fuss about not getting to take unpaid days after they used all of their PTO, except they were asking for a week off here and there. so my manager said “if i give you these days, they could come back and argue about why we’re giving you unpaid days and not them.”

the thing is, this employee is on leave until October!! they’ve been out for 2 months already! how would they even know you gave me days off so i can go to my fucking appointments??? it’s so bullshit to me. i need to stay home due to sickness, they make me use all of my PTO for it, then they tell me i can’t take any days off for the rest of the year. which is 9 months btw!!! yeah sure i’ll just call in on short notice so you’re blindsided with short staffing, instead of letting you plan ahead for the absence. it doesn’t make any sense to me

I got promoted to Loan Officer after being a teller for a year. I have no idea what I’m doing. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I was forced into a new position at my bank and part of the new position was taking calls a weak spot of mine, after being told I had no other but to do it was lied to about the calls I would be taking. Stupidly I would hang up on clients when frustrated now getting investigated by ER for call adherence. Really scared I’m going to be fired and hopefully I get a final warning instead

I had my first real customer this afternoon. She needed to send .a wire. She was just delightful and we had a grand time together. I know they won't all be like this, but it was such a good note to start on

I’ve been working at a credit union for almost 6 months and i went into the job thinking that it would mostly be doing transactions and advising customers on what types of credit building/lending might be helpful for them. I had always wanted to get into banking because I was helped out tremendously by a teller at my credit union when I was younger. Literally taught me everything I know about having good credit. I wanted to do that for someone else

However…I have noticed that it seems like my credit union only cares about the “sales goals” and we are chastised for not meeting the points goals each month (we get a certain amount of points per loan lead or referral we pass along) and we also are expected to do a lot of outbound sales calls. Just wondering if all credit unions or banks are like this? I love the transaction and day to day of the job but I hate the sales.

So yesterday a client comes in 10 minutes before closing, because of course he does, and doesnt even wait to be called before he marches to my desk saying he needs a new debit card. My biggest pet peeve when I'm a banker is clients not waiting to be called and immediately approaching my desk. Great, I'm already annoyed but debit cards are relatively quick and I just want the day to be over.

He sits down, I let him know he has a negative balance but he scoffs and says the bank wont do anything about it, hes got a social security deposit coming in on the 3rd and he knows what hes doing. Sure pal, youre over 700 dollars in the negative with like 10 fees tacked on your account, but you know whay you're doing. Its your account, I guess.

Then as I'm ordering the card, I see out of the corner of my eye that hes making a movement under the table. Hes moving his arm and hand back and forth rapidly in a certain way while staring at me. I couldnt quite confirm whether his hand was actually in his pants or not because that would actually require me to look at what's happening, but you get the idea.

I'm actually kinda relieved I shut down at that moment, because other times I've been sexually harassed I usually responded with fear. At that point I was about 60% done with the whole thing and I just really wanted the whole day to be over with so I just went and grabbed the card, remained perfectly neutral throughout the rest of the transaction. Once he left I was really pissed off, like slamming my documents down type pissed, but again, day was almost over and I just wanted to leave.

Its the 1st so we've been busy as fuck, havent had a chance to speak with my manager. Not exactly sure what the procedure is but figured its better to say something 🤷‍♀️

How much of your day is spent on fraud cases? I am really starting to hate my job for spending hours every day helping people open new accounts and navigate their messes and making sure that things get paid against and deposited into the new account. Can’t even make our goals because all we do is take care of fraud. And sometimes it’s multiple accounts that have to be opened and you get no credit for it and they don’t understand when their OLB is shut down and they have to provide a receipt to show that their devices have been cleaned. Mad because they have to spend the money to be able to use their OLB again. It’s exhausting and I’m so over it. It’s mentally draining. Anyone else?
