Would you guys like Venom Spidey to encounter Jean ? Venom weakness is fire btw but certain adaptations have adjusted this like insomniac.

Also wanted to know all of your opinions on how avengers secret wars and maybe later spiderman film as well. I'm currently hanging around japanese fandom and it seems that they have this theory where Ned Leeds would become the Flash Thompson of this universe.

  1. Wanting giving Jean the experience of being a hero without being judged for her past actions Peter helps her come up with the Ms.Marvel identity and helped make her costume.

  2. The first time Jean was ever truly flustered by Peter was while they were out saving the city and stopped by a Puerto Rican bodega. The owner teased them, daring them to dance to some bachata in exchange for sandwiches. Without a second thought, Peter jumped right in and tried to pull Jean into the dance. Too shy to join, Jean just stood there with a beet-red face, covering her eyes while Peter twirled around her to Prince Royce.

  3. Jean slept with a spiderman plushie in the X-men mansion which she started to hide after Peter started visiting regularly.

  4. Jean truly started to fall head over heels for Peter after seeing how he always made time to hang out with the younger mutants. As Spider-Man, he went out of his way to entertain them, brightening their day and lifting their spirits.

  5. Jean absolutely loves it when Peter praises her. He compliments every little thing she does—except for her cooking

Discussion We might be playing a very important role in the future of the MCU!

This is the first time I’ve seen so much excitement surrounding a potential couple when the characters only actually met for three minutes in the movie; there are tens of thousands of pieces of fan art imagining a "Peter x Jean Grey" pairing in the future of the MCU. Perhaps the producers or Kevin Feige will have the courage to take the risk of developing this romantic relationship. Let’s be honest: Kevin Feige has always been someone who takes risks (Avengers 1, the Infinity Saga, the Multiverse, betting on Guardians of the Galaxy). He’s likely monitoring reactions on social media Twitter, Reddit, TikTok and must have seen the massive amount of fan art for this amazing "ship." Who knows? He might well be considering the possibility of incorporating a Jean/Peter romance into the future of the MCU.

Discussion The couple's potential and all the reasons not to believe in it

Post image
Upvotes

the couple's Potential :

- It would add sexual tension to Peter's life.

- It creates an original storyline for the MCU.

- It allows for a recurring Marvel Universe character to appear in the Spider-Man film, reducing inconsistencies between movies and maintaining a high standard of character writing.

- It offers the best chemistry between Peter and a love interest since Gwen Stacy better than with Liz, Michelle/MJ, or even Sam Raimi's MJ.

The downsides of being a couple:

- It really detracts from X-Men lore if Jean and Peter are a couple.

- It also diminishes Cyclops as a character; a huge part of his development is tied to Jean.

- Tom Holland seems to be saying he doesn't want to play Spider-Man much longer (he's been Spider-Man for 10 years!), but I think it's a strategy on his part to gain more say in film decisions kind of like how Mbappé threatened to leave PSG to get more influence over decisions.

- Can a woman really be the protagonist of a major saga? I have my doubts; I don't think producers want that to happen. We've seen examples Shuri, Rey (Star Wars), Wanda, Supergirl, Jean Grey, etc. but

Did you have any other arguments?

Following the release of *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, the narrative depth between Spider-Man and Jean Grey sparked debates about pairing them up; the film itself seemed to hint at a potential romance, and with rumors circulating that Spider-Man will be closely linked to the X-Men in the future, is a pairing between the two officially confirmed?

Discussion As a Jean fan, I think Peter x Jean is one of the best ways for Jean Grey to become a fully realized, standalone character.

I want to point out something very important: for years, X-Men fans have seen Jean solely as a prize to be fought over by Scott and Logan, and it’s just annoying—they’re even bringing that nonsense back for the next installment. Moving Jean away from those toxic relationships with the other X-Men would be a good thing; the constant cheating—her cheating on Scott with someone else, and vice versa—is excessive (while heroes cheat in comics generally, with the X-Men, it’s on another level). Above all, I don’t want to see that Madelyne arc adapted for the screen again; I don’t understand why people like that storyline—even though *X-Men '97* handled it a bit better, it remains deeply problematic.

Discussion Why Jean solves Peter's biggest problem

Post image
Upvotes

I think what's also refreshing about this ship is that both are powerful superpowered people who can defend themselves or even save each other.

Peter's reason for ghosting MJ and Ned for years is that he doesn't want to endanger them because of his Spider-Man life like what happened to Aunt May. But Peter doesn't really have to worry about involving Jean in his life compared to his normal friends because Jean is usually capable of defending herself and it only took the most emotionally vulnerable moment to let her guard down. Otherwise, she's like a god with her powers.

I don't think I've ever seen or will ever see another superhero movie where the hero takes a bullet for someone after the most intimate conversation with them in his literal mind and then the hero getting saved by them in return by depending on their literal breath for the next several hours? How can you get more romantic than that?

I see the idea get thrown around alot and it's hilarious to imagine Jean anxiously waiting for the summer break so she can break into Peter's apartment (again) head to bathroom and scrub the hell out of her face with makeup wipes.

She just goes full Gremlin mode and takes off all the clothes and jewelry Jubilee and Kitty bought her, wears whatever shirt and sweatpants Peter has laying around raids his fridge and kicks her feet up until he gets back.

Peter: W-what the...Oh for the love of god Jean i've told you like six times already THAT THE KEY IS WEBBED TO THE CEILING!

Jean: *Downing a 2L soda while scrolling through his TV* Yeah forgot about that my bad....

Peter: WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO IT??? THE DAM HANDLE IS FALLING OFF!

Jean: Tried bobby pins, they snapped so I just got a screw driver and jammed it in and started wiggling hehe

Peter: You're telekinetic...you can just unlock the god dam door with your mind Jean...

Jean: Yeah but where's the *BEEEEELLLLCHHHH* fun in that...besides im out of practice.

Peter: Do you have anything to say for yourself?

Jean: Yeah you're out of Dr.Pepper

Here are the reasons to believe in this duo for the Mutant Saga

I know a lot of people don't like the idea of Peter and Jean being a couple. So, before explaining why it would be a good thing, I'm going to explain why none of the arguments against them being together actually hold up.

  • "Peter can't date Jean because she's a teenager:" Jean is at least 19 and at most 20 in the movie. Kevin Feige confirmed that Jean is a young adult, slightly younger than Peter, and her age is close to his.
  • "Peter's only true love is MJ:" This is false, since in the comics Peter dates so many women, it's just that MJ is the most developed romance in the comics. Furthermore, in Peter Parker's history, he often has two main girlfriends. He usually loses his first girlfriend because he made a mistake, and he doesn't lose his second one.
  • "The Peter (Tom) x MJ (Zendaya) couple is so romantic:" No, I don't think so, and I think you're confusing them with the real-life couple Tom x Zendaya. Honestly, I can't remember a single romantic scene between these two characters. The way Peter fell in love with MJ between Homecoming and Far From Home comes out of nowhere. As a reminder, in the first Homecoming, Peter was all about Liz. Unpopular opinion: Peter and Liz had better romantic chemistry than Peter and Zendaya.
  • "Cyclops x Jean is the only canon couple, Jean x Peter doesn't exist in the comics:" I'm not a huge comic book expert so I won't go into too much detail, but I know Hulk x Natasha wasn't canon in the comics before Avengers: Age of Ultron (they were almost never together). Also, let's be honest, Cyclops has never been a success in live-action film adaptations. In the first trilogy, I remember him getting his girl stolen right in front of everyone by Logan, and in the second trilogy, I don't remember him at all. In the X-Men '97 animated series (the one released in 2024), the whole storyline with Madelyne... I honestly think it's too complicated to be adapted into live-action for all-audience movies.
  • "Cyclops isn't a cool character:" I'm sorry to all the Cyclops fans out there, but he's not a cool character. Rather, it's hard to make Cyclops cool in live-action, and I don't think the MCU will pull it off. Best case scenario, he reaches Reed Richards' level of swagger, but he won't go further than that.

Now, here are the reasons to believe in it:

  • Thematically fitting: The next saga will be about the Mutants, and it will also focus on the human vs. mutant conflict. I think it would be interesting to see a relationship build up that carries all the weight of this conflict. Honestly, Brand New Day laid some good groundwork for Peter x Jean.
  • Character development: Jean will probably be the most important character of this saga, and I think she'll be developed both in the X-Men movies and in the Spider-Man movies. The Spider-Man movies would allow Jean to see how the outside world (outside the Institute) operates.
  • A unique dynamic: This might sound silly, but the fact that Peter is the only person whose mind Jean cannot read even at the end of the movie she can't do it unless Peter allows it could be very useful for Jean in a romantic relationship. She can't get into her future husband's head.
  • MCU consistency: This would also give the Spider-Man movies a minimum of consistency. If Jean is present in the next Spider-Man installments, we wouldn't have to rack our brains bringing in another MCU character like Doctor Strange, Iron Man, or Hulk just to have them show up for a single movie.

Discussion One of the reasons this couple is so fascinating is that it avoids the "girl the hero has to save" trope!

I’m fed up with those relationships where the man has to act out the superhero movie cliché—always protecting a powerless woman who just complains about him putting her in danger, only for him to risk his life all over again at the end to save her. One of the few exceptions is Peter and Gwen in *The Amazing Spider-Man*.

The story between Miles and Gwen Stacy is a great example of how to handle a romantic relationship; both characters have powers, which opens up new themes that are a hundred times more interesting.

Plus, the great thing about a Peter/Jean pairing is that we’d finally have a couple where Peter could be vulnerable—weaker than his partner yet just as compelling. It could be similar to the Subaru/Rem or Subaru/Emilia dynamic.
