I honestly worry about you guys over the next 10 or 20 years. This technology isn't going away. It's only going to become more widespread and increasingly integrated into everything. Writing "slop" online is like shouting into the void. It's not going to accomplish anything. I'm not even pro AI, I just find this whole thing increasingly pointless.
I mean, this is literally just an optional rendering mod and Reddit has already lost its mind over it.

I think you mistake a simple cold rejection for "losing my mind." AI will always be unwelcome in the arts, and frankly I hope the technology gets purged as the metastasized cancer it is, but a simple rejection is what we can do about it for now.

Realistically, I think we're both intelligent enough to know that's not going to happen.
I don't really understand what Redditors want. For this technology to be uninvented? Writing "slop" and sharing the memes isn't going to do anything to slow the spread of the technology. It's such a bizarre position to see technology as inherently evil anyway. The problem isn't technology as such, but who controls it and how it is used
And all of this over an optional rendering mod for lighting and texture enhancements in a fantasy game...
In a few years, I can see game studios using a final neural rendering pass to achieve a cinematic presentation on top of their assets and texture work. And there'll be no problem with that. It'll be part of their creative vision, just like there's really no moral problem with modders changing how their game looks.
