I mean it also helps that he was tried in Texas where they don’t believe in mental health exceptions. She’s being tried in Massachusetts, which has a very different political climate.

Remind me again....why does your country have like 50 different legal systems?

u/500rockin 9h ago

51 really, because the Feds have their own system. And states like to think themselves of separate units and has been that way from the start, when each individual state considered themselves almost as separate countries (That’s where the 10th amendment comes in to play originally) and were treated as such in order to get the constitution signed. It wasn’t until the civil war that the union became more powerful. It’s politics all the way down.

Even the death penalty is a political matter.

Bloody odd country. And I say that from the Uk...

It is kinda cool though. If you want to live somewhere that strangling your children to death is cracked down hard on, there are states for that, and if you want to live somewhere that strangling your children to death gets a "oopsie, not your fault" there are states for that too.

Something for everyone!

Is there a state that would take mental health seriously enough to prevent kids getting murdered it the first place?

...

Cause from the outside, it doesn't look to be THAT high on the priority list. You seem more interested in punishing that preventing.

lmao

Absolutely. There are states that take mental health quite seriously, and some that don't. Massachusetts is certainly the former, which leads me to believe no amount of mental health treatment would have saved those kids from getting murdered by their own mother.

Not taken THAT seriously then, is it?

Unfortunately you’re right.
