He was locked up way longer than a most people are for attempted murder

Not really. After 21 years he was allowed to leave St Elizabeth and visit his parents. Plus, he attempted to murder a U.S. President, not sone random person.

I mean, it shouldn't, but there are additional laws that protect presidents and elected officials that do not exist for regular citizens.

It's almost like there is a 2 tier system!
