Mod Update: Chill with the Hate

Upvotes

Just dropping in to say—we’ve noticed a bunch of Hindutva trolls showing up lately. We’re removing their posts and banning where needed. This sub isn’t the place for that kind of hate.

Also, let’s keep it real: no jingoism from any side. Doesn’t matter if you’re Pakistani or Indian—this sub is for Sindh and Sindhis, wherever you are in the world.

And yeah, just because someone’s Indian doesn’t mean they can’t be part of this space. This sub is not restricted to race, religion or nationality.

Mods are all doing this in our free time, so if you don’t see instant action, know we’re still watching and doing our best. Keep reporting stuff and we’ll keep cleaning it up.

Social Our village school was demolished due to unsafe conditions, and now children have nowhere proper to study — Qadirabad, Sanghar

Upvotes

I’m posting this in the hope that someone from this sub can help us reach the right people.

The elementary school in Village Qadirabad, Tehsil Jam Nawaz Ali, District Sanghar was in such poor condition that its building had to be demolished for the safety of the children.

However, after the demolition, no proper temporary arrangement has been provided. The children are now attending classes under trees and sometimes in the local mosque. The teachers are also struggling to continue teaching in these conditions.

Many villagers, including my family, have tried approaching the Deputy Commissioner Sanghar, officials in Mirpurkhas, and the Education Department, requesting temporary tents/classrooms or any other safe arrangement, but unfortunately there has been no meaningful response so far.

These are children from a poor rural community, and this school is their main source of education. They shouldn't have to stop studying simply because their school building was unsafe.

We are not asking for money. We are asking for help in reaching someone who can actually intervene — government officials, journalists, NGOs, education activists, or anyone who knows the proper channel to escalate this issue.

Even a temporary tent/classroom arrangement would allow these children to continue their education while they wait for a permanent school building.

Location: Village Qadirabad, Post Office Patoyun, Tehsil Jam Nawaz Ali, District Sanghar, Sindh.

I’ve attached photographs showing the demolished school and the current conditions in which the children are trying to study.

If anyone from you guys knows who we should contact or can help bring this to the attention of the relevant authorities, please guide us.

Can anyone help find the root of the last name “Harisinghani”

Upvotes

My grandfather carries that last name and he was born in Karachi around 45, and moved to Gujrat in 47 due to the partition. I’m 19 born in the US so I don’t know much about the region but would love to know and learn more. I think my grandfather was a Nanakpanthi as well, but any suggestions on where the name came from and what it stands for would greatly be appreciated.

You opinion on new provinces

Upvotes

I personally think it's going to be better if we have new provinces. Let's keep nationalism aside and take a look at the problems. Areas like Nawabshah and Sehwan are really underprivileged. Separate provinces would atleast put the pressure on the respective CMs to perform to make their province look better thus having better support in politics. Personally I think this will help in growth of Pakistan and attention to neglected cities but what do you think?

Why do Sindhi nationalists seem like they want to destroy Punjab?

Upvotes

I see rabid hatred from Sindhis towards Punjabis. Singing songs about killing us, engineering the "Saraiki" movement to fracture our homeland, and even some of you trying to force South Punjab into Sindh. I understand you may want a more representative country but the people of Punjab didn't deliberately cause the state of the country with the intention to benefit only the Punjabi nation. It is well-known how ethnonationalism is really weak in Punjab. Even the elites of Punjab aren't very ethnonationalist. I don't get the hate towards Punjabis as a people and this belief that we believe we are superior.

I’m looking for real photos of the site/landscape for an art reference. I need it for my paintibg reference. if that place especially has that tree, it will be quite helpful.

Family of Bhatta Upadhyay from Laslatpur & History

Upvotes

My humble greetings to all sindhis regardless of Culture, Religion, or Tradition.

I am from the Bhatta Upadhyay family belong to a village of Laslatpur (the village is no longer to be), near what is currently Mirpurkhas. Our ancestors are directly related to Vallabhacharya who is the leader of the Pushtimarg Sect, from the betiji lineage or the daughter of vallabhacharyas sons (who we call as gosainji), they got married to Bhatta who are originally telugu brahmin.

We settled in sindh as the home priests of a famous Vaishnav Lohana who had immense money, those Lohanas then immigrated to the gulf (kuwait, bahrain, oman, uae). My ancestors who where telugu brahmans (part of the Meraj caste), did not want to cross the ocean ( a rule for many high caste hindus at the time), and thus stayed in Thatta (most lohanas left from that port keti bhandar).

During partition we where stripped from our homes and pushed out, and actually the train my great great grandfather told not go on train as shri Krihsna (thakorji) had come in his dream that everyone on that train will die, and thus happened, so the left using boat.

Now we are from Gujurat, Surat. 🙏

History | تاريخ Can someone help me find my ancestral roots?

Upvotes

My grandparents moved to India post partition. I left and moved to Canada for my masters and I am working there at the moment. I would want to visit my ancestral land when I will be able to after a few years considering my new nationality.

I lost my grandparents pretty early and after speaking to the elders in my family, I got to know that my grandparents came from a place called ‘Garhi’ - it’s not Garhi Yasin mostly because they mentioned that its not around Shikarpur. Some other ‘Garhi’ maybe? I am struggling to find the spot. I have a year or two to figure it out until I plan my trip.

I would be immensely grateful if someone can help me out here.

History | تاريخ I found out recently that parts of south punjab originally belonged to Sindh

Upvotes

I wonder why punjabi users who are always claiming hazarewal and ajk never accept this and they start abusing or fabricating history.

I personally would always support returning original Sindh lands added to Punjab as south punjab back to Sindh.
