I found these guys at a massive 1900s house estate sale. While I could find no sterling marks, for 5 bucks I figured it was worth the gamble. I did find a marked sterling salt shaker and the owner wouldn’t sell it, so I would be beyond pleased to have acquired these at such a cheap price. What’s curious to me is all of them seem to have different stamps or markings on them. Has anyone come across any of these before? I plan on heading to the local coin dealer tomorrow to get them scanned but in the meantime I can’t help but wonder if I struck treasure!

Hi everyone! I’m trying to date and identify a few pieces from my collection, especially through original manufacturer catalogs.

- Barbour sterling creamer No. 69: Meriden Historical Society estimated the design was introduced around 1896–1898, but could not locate an exact catalog illustration. I’d love to find No. 69 or its matching sugar bowl.

- EPNS hot-water pitcher and saucer: Marked 22, EPNS, 108, with additional symbols and a Gothic-style M monogram. Looking for the maker and an exact catalog match.

- Large silverplate tray: Grape-and-vine border with two decorative handles. I’m hoping to identify its maker, pattern, and production period.

I’ll include photos of the pieces and their markings. This is genuinely about dating and identifying them, not establishing monetary value. If anyone has catalog scans, advertisements, reference books, or matching examples, I’d really appreciate the help. Even a catalog title or page number would be useful.

While driving around thrifting, my wife and I found a run-down shop and decided to look. Walking in and seeing the usual junk and overpriced stuff no one wants was very underwhelming, but it's the standard in most shops, it seems. The shop owner has a bag of sterling that he says he's melting down and let's me check before he does. $20 and a conversation that went on for way too long!

I’m researching this oval covered serving dish and would love help finding an exact catalog illustration or identifying its maker.

It has a ribbed/gadrooned edge, a ring handle on the lid, and a small stamped symbol that I haven’t been able to identify. There is also a circular fitting underneath with what looks like a scratched “7.” I’ve included close-ups of the mark and construction.

Does anyone recognize the maker’s mark, know what this type of dish was intended to serve, or have a dated catalog showing the same design? I’m especially interested in the manufacturer, pattern, and approximate production period.

This is genuinely about researching and dating my collection, not trying to establish a value. Any catalog references or documented comparisons would be greatly appreciated.

Lucky day, shop had it labeled silver trinket holder and was full of tarnish. I rubbed the bottom a bit and saw the sterling mark. Polished it up a bit and weighed it, 73 grams :)

Is this spoon 13 Loth silver? I’ve never found silver “in the wild” before and felt like gambling since this was only 50 cents. My Google-fu suggested that it is maybe 13 Loth silver but I’m unsure as I couldn’t find the exact same hallmark but a couple that are similar. Weighs 44g. Sorry for the subpar pictures. The initials are either W S or S M

Picked this up today for £20 and thought it was worth sharing.

It’s a Cambodian Khmer silver presentation bowl, weighing 300g and still in its original fitted box.

It has detailed repoussé, pierced and chased decoration, with Angkor Wat and “CNMC” engraved on the side.

The full inscription reads:

“With Compliments of Cambodian National Mekong Committee”

The base is stamped “CAMBODIA” and “T90”. I’ve since confirmed T90 is a recognised Cambodian Khmer silver hallmark indicating 90% silver.

At 300g and 90% silver, it contains approximately 270g of pure silver.

Paid £20 for it, so I’m pleased with this one.

I’d be interested to hear from anyone who knows more about Cambodian Khmer silver, T90 pieces, or the possible age and history of these CNMC presentation gifts.

Inherited this set from my grandmother. I don’t even know where to start with determining if it has value or if I should throw it away. I would appreciate any help with this :)

So I found a set of 5 of these spoons in my inherited teaspoon collection, a little bit of googling brings the following information up :

The bowl is engraved “I.O.F. TEMPLE TORONTO”, showing the famous Temple Building of the Independent Order of Foresters.
The elaborate enamelled handle carries the IOF emblem, a crown, laurel wreath and the letters L.B.C. — standing for Liberty, Benevolence and Concord, associated with the order.
The building depicted is the former IOF Temple at Bay Street and Richmond Street West, Toronto. It was designed by architect George W. Gouinlock and was one of Toronto’s earliest skyscrapers. It was completed in the mid-1890s and for a time was the tallest building in Toronto and the British Empire.

The reverse is clearly stamped:
K & S
STERLING

The Temple Building stood at Bay Street and Richmond Street West and was the headquarters of the Independent Order of Foresters. Designed by George W. Gouinlock, it was one of Toronto’s earliest skyscrapers and, when completed, was among the tallest buildings in the British Empire. The building was demolished in 1970.

I’m interested to find out more about the makers mark K & S if anyone knows who they might be ?
