Etc. I have made a terrible mistake lol
I saw someone mention the Balbazak fight is great for leveling up anyone with a range attack. My wife was home yesterday, so I would set up (X) and set a book on the controller to auto hit A. it worked great, and I was able to get most of the force up to 20 here with minimum effort on my part, while spending time with my wife.
But now.... the OCD brain won't let it go that everyone needs to get to level 20. And I spending far too much time trying to get people to 20 here than I really should. Getting everyone left to 16 on seabats wasn't too bad, but beyond that.... it's not going great lol. I have played myself, and only have myself to blame.

I always promote at 20 but I do it later. Usually the Kane fight but I did it at the shining path in my recent playthrough. You don’t have to promote at 20 that early
There are later battles which are good for training too.
The game doesn’t expect you to be promoted at even 10 until about chapter 5 so trying to promote at 20 at balbazak is probably gonna give you 1 XP for way too long. As someone who is an extreme grinder (I’ve 20/20’d my entire roster SEVERAL times now), there are some things that just aren’t worth it

This game is far too easy to be doing this sort of grinding. It's really only recommended for people that are having trouble getting through the game.

Oh, for sure. Not doing it because it's hard or anything. I like to train all members of the force to at least promote, which can get tedious for some of the weaker people. Like my Arthur was only level 6, and it worked great to get him to 20 and fight his was out of a paper bag.
I know I should move on, but brain is stuck on TRAIN ALL mode, and don't know how to turn that off.

I guess it really comes down to what holds more weight to you? If you are saying it is not going great then it seems like your enjoyment of the game is dwindling. So what means more to you out of this game? Getting those numbers aligned or actually just playing and enjoying it?

Yup, 100%. This is a case of logically knowing what I should do (move on), and my brain/feelings/whatever being stubborn and wanting everyone at the same level. Like I said in the first post, I played myself, it's my own fault, and I know it. Thought it was a comical story to share, something others might relate to, and not a 'how do i fix this?" post. Apologies if that wasn't clear.

Playing on the actual system, I used to put a rock on the controller so C was always pressed. Enemies would slowly feed into the Force, who would dissolve them and the cycle continues. Some battles are better than others for Auto Rock, but if you have a mindless grind session lined up, Auto Rock is absolutely your go-to guy.

I used rubber bands back in the day. On the switch version today, I'm using a book that was next to me. I'd love to get an actual turbo controller one day, but those cost 'money' and I have none. Sometimes the old ways work best.

it’s been a while for me so i’m not too sure of the details, but you might also be able to level up many melee characters by having domingo floating next to balbazak to tank as well. just need to check in every once in a while to heal. i assume domingo would hit balbazak for 1 so there wouldn’t be a need to skip attacks

I did this for a few characters, actually. Domino's 21-ish now, and starting to do more damage to the boss. I might be able to do more this way, but getting harder.

I usually have everyone promoted and like, level 3 during that fight. There are so many unique enemies.
