When to take next attempt for SAT

Upvotes

Hello Everyone, I recently got a 1420(680 RW/740 M) on August, but I did not really study that much, and I am trying to get atleast a 1550+ by March/May. What would be a good time to take the next test, as I can only dedicate like 3-5 hrs/week, and what are the best ways to study? Thank you again for any advice!

Studied really hard, decreased more than 100 points

I’ve been getting consistent high 600s in math (aim is 750+) and just when I thought I’d made progress, this happened.

I’ve also only been scoring above 750 for English.

If this has happened to anyone else I’d love some advice

RW discrepancies are driving me crazy

How did I get 720+ in bluebook practices, including one 770 and a 750 on pt 11 just now but a 650 in august????? I've been beating myself up these last 2 days bro, and sept is in 4 days! Was my lesson in this only supposed to be stress management or whatever? Or is this luck? I need to stop thinking about this

Friends didn't study for a 1550

Upvotes

For the August SAT, I got a 1500 (710RW, 790 Math) and was kinda bummed because that meant I had to retake it again on October. But, I found out that two of my friends got 1550s (one got 750 RW 800 Math and another got 760 RW and 790 Math) and they were telling each other like "you got 50 points off English, you should deport yourself" and "you got 10 points off Math."

Another thing that kinda bums me out is that they studied for a day before, as in did a practice test and went straight into the exam. And we go to the same school, took the same math and English classes, and got all As together. I personally prepared for about 10 months now and took 3 tests, and my best is a 1500.

I understand they are just innate geniuses since one is on the honors list for USNCO and another qualified for USAPhO and AIME qualed like 2 or 3 times (I tried for USACO and AMC 8 once but gave up), but I still don't understand how they can perform so well on reading comprehension without proper strategies or anything.

Tips for October SAT

Upvotes

I'm a junior and I just took my first SAT in August and got a 1450 (740 Math, 710 RW). Can anyone give me tips to improve. I want to get a 1550+. For reading it said I had one bar less for expression of ideas but for math it didn't exactly give me useful info. Help is greatly appreciated!

Horrible August 2026 SAT SCORE

Upvotes

Got a 1320 SAT with 630 reading and 690 math as junior. I went down 2 entire bars on the Expression of Ideas category cause teacher was yapping to student who didn’t know the reading had 2 sections. Overall score stayed same from November of 2025 to now with reading going up 30 points and math going down 30 points. Any tips for 800math?

Taking my time

Hey! Does taking my time on the SAT impact my overall score at the end? Like, can I “take too long” on a certain part?

5 Days to study for the SAT

Upvotes

I'm not gonna say much because honestly, I should be studying right now but I'm too curious. Let's just say HYPOTHETICALLY, someone with bad math skills, meh english skills, and a 3.6 gpa. How would that person, HYPOTHETICALLY do on the SAT if they are taking the SAT in 5 days and is willing to study 6 hours a day. Also will be taking the October SAT. Hypothetical btw (Also I do have extented)

(Ik it's kinda a obvious question but when I ask AI, they always say some bs that I def can't pull off.)

I don't know what to do next

I'm taking the November sat and I'm just lost on what to do next. I want to improve in math so I saw and tried tutorillini's demos course but saw he uses the practice test questions(?) And for reading I don't know how to improve on that. I also don't want to run out of practice questions. I really don't know where to go from here and I really would appreciate if someone could help. I'm aiming a high score, preferably high 1500s 🤍

Sat aug score 1400 started sophomore

Upvotes

Hi, asking for friend's kid. She got 680(rw) +720 in recent SAT. Kid is in 10th. Seems like ok score but prep was less than 2 weeks. Wonder what are best next steps to approach without pressurizing the kid. (as there is time).

Also want to use preprps or uworld. Any recommendations and approach will be really appreciated!

What separates a high scorer from the rest?

Post image
Upvotes

I got a low score this SAT, and the June SAT. I've did extensive studying, but I have no idea how I've improved so little in such a large amount of time. I don't know what I am doing wrong, or if I even have the talent to even attempt to taste a higher end score. After receiving this score, I got extremely discouraged and I still genuinely have no idea what to do or how to prepare for this incoming SAT.

I really hope I could atleast get a 1300+ this Saturday, but a 180 point increase in a couple days also seems outwardly impossible. So I ask all of you, what separates a 1300+ scorer from the rest of the pack? What prerequisite knowledge is required in order to get such a score, and above?

How to not interpret the underlined scentence?

Post image
Upvotes

I've done this question multiple times, and it seems that the biggest issue is understanding what the underlined scentence means.

I had always interpreted it as "Art that fails to appease everyone provokes backlash (how does it provoke backlash? by being sufficiently aesthetic and by being conceptually bland) "

however, the text probably wants me to interpret it as

"Art that fails to appease everyone (how does it fail to appease? by being sufficiently aesthetically and by being conceptually bland) provokes backlash"

it might be a dumb question, but this is an edge i wanna sharpen for the september sat

Anyone else way better at English than Math?

Upvotes

I took my first SAT in August and I got a 790 in Reading/Writing and a 680 in Math. I think I might be the only person I know that struggles so much with math and finds the English section easy in comparison. I definitely spent way more time studying math too, and I just can't seem to figure it out.

How realistic is Practice #10

Upvotes

Title. I recently did practice #10 and got a 1570 - 770 rw, 800 math. Three days ago I did practice #9 and go a 1510 - 710 rw, 800 math. Previously, I usually got 1480 - 1500. I feel like a 60 point jump is really big, so is practice #10 just really easy?

is prep pros worth it to go form 1370 to 1520+

Upvotes

hi guys i took the august sat and got a 1370(680 english, 690 math) and I am thinking of joining prep pros for tutoring. over the summer I studied 3+ hours a day and the week leading up to the august sat all i did was study but it wasnt enough and I was extremely upset. How much more time do I need to dedicate towards studying for the SAT?

I’ve been consistently scoring in the high 1400s on the Bluebook tests, but I still haven’t reached my goal of 1500+. Since I have school, I can’t spend every afternoon doing practice questions, and with the September test coming up, I’m wondering how much additional prep time I should realistically be putting in. (I will do practice #11 but I heard #7 is also pretty accurate)
