Unfortunately I topped my 28 gallon biocube aquarium off with a little too much freshwater last night and it caused a drastic oxygen failure within the tank. I woke up this morning and my pair of mated clowns were dead, mated banghai cardinals were dead, and the only survivors gasping for life were my blenny and painted clown goby.
Months and months of work and pairing the clownfish up, watching them every single day when I woke up and seeing their personalities grow and they establish themselves, all gone in under 12 hours. All the levels otherwise are fine, thousands of dollars in coral unharmed.
I feel like an empty husk. Like a giant chunk of my heart was just carved out and I can't stop blaming myself for everything. I loved my fish like they were my absolute best friends and I am having an insanely hard time getting through the morning. My brain is wanting to quit everything but I know I have so much living stuff in my reef tanks, I just can't get over the fact that I killed my friends.
If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it, but otherwise I guess I just needed a place to talk. My heart is overflowing with grief and remorse and I can't stop blaming myself for their deaths.
