I’ve always loved her RAMMSTEIN covers, but I can’t seem to find any of her videos on YouTube anymore. Does anyone know who she is or what happened to her channel and videos?

I cannot for the life of me find this promo photo from the 90s where till is shirtless wearing an x harness with the rest of the band around him. If I remember they were mostly shirtless too. If anybody has this photo and can post a link to it I would greatly appreciate it.

Art Rammstein alt history challenge - Post your fan albums here

Here is my version of Sonntag bei Omi.

During the Reise, Reise sessions, the band felt like they wanted to create something closer, more personal, and more psychological. Here’s what happened.

At first, they considered dividing Sonntag bei Omi into a double album, but eventually narrowed it down to just 11 songs. Rumor has it that they still have at least another 11 songs left in the vault.

In an early press release, a Universal executive praised a song called “Amerika.” Now, the label is reportedly confused as to why the band chose to leave the song off the album.

Rammstein will begin a new world tour called the Omi Tour, with a stop in Nîmes, France.

Art Stein um Stein discussion

Upvotes

I recently listened to Stein um Stein in Reise, Reise. It was really a crazy listening experience. Probably the strongest emotional response I've had to any of their songs. The gentle guitar at the beginning radiates hopelessness. That feeling when your stomach drops because you know what's coming. Dread sets in. The tone in which Till starts the song is with sinister intent. Completely evil and he knows it. He knows that you know it. "Stein um Stein" doesn't come in super surprisingly. But it comes in hard enough to make you react. Just like if you know you're going to get hit but you flinch anyway, because its the normal response. The cascading guitar riff during this phrase project an image of the house being built in my opinion. It's closing in. And notice that it's Stone by Stone, not brick by brick. Stone is more immovable, more primal, more jagged. This is my general impression of the song. Instills dread, you expect the next strike with resignation. Powerless and controlled. Notice there's no resistance against the abuser. No screams were heard from the "house" maybe because you never tried to scream.

RTL2 TV Report about unreleased Das Modell music video analysis

Upvotes

Recently I had a little hyperfixation on theme of unreleased music video for Das Modell cause it’s one of my most favourite Rammstein songs.

I watched TV report from “Stars aktuell” about the filming in detail and noticed something I had initially overlooked: a clapperboard that appears on screen for only a couple of seconds.

I also compared the available information about Das Modell with production credits for other Rammstein videos from Sehnsucht era, especially Du hast and Engel.

The main sources are the TV report, the clapperboard shown in it, and information about the people who worked on other Rammstein videos from the same period.

Clapperboard shown in TV report

The clapperboard info

DoRo Prod.: “Rammstein”

Roll: 1 SR 3
Scene: F1 / 1
Take: empty
Director: Ph. Stölzl
Camera: due to the poor image quality, only “S. Pfaffen” at the beginning and, less clearly, “er” at the end can be read with any confidence. Several letters in the middle are illegible.
Date: 12.11.97

High confidence info

Das Modell music video was filmed, but was never released: shown in the TV report. RammWiki also lists Das Modell as unreleased.

The filming took place on November 12, 1997: this date is written on the clapperboard.

Filming location – Western Crown Hotel, Berlin: stated on RammWiki. The interiors shown in the TV report also resemble a hotel.

Director — Philipp Stölzl: his name is written on the clapperboard.

Cinematographer — probably Sebastian Pfaffenbichler: the Camera field on the clapperboard begins with S. Pfaffen... . Deciphered part of the surname matches Sebastian Pfaffenbichler. The same person is known to have worked on other Rammstein videos from Sehnsucht era. He also appeared in the making-of Du hast, where he was identified as the cinematographer and talked about the technical aspects of the filming.

DoRo was involved in the production: written on the clapperboard. DoRo was also involved in the production of other Rammstein videos from the Sehnsucht era. Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher, the founders of DoRo, are listed on Wikipedia as having worked on Engel. Most likely, they provided Stölzl and Pfaffenbichler for making Du hast and DRSG 98 music videos. This apllies to Das Modell video too.

The band did not participate in the filming: in the TV report, Paul explains this while talking to the girls. Daniela asks how the band will add themselves to the video using a computer. Richard says that he has no idea, while Paul explains that the band was on vacation and had suggested that the video be made without them.

In a 2005 chat with fans, Flake also confirmed that none of the band members appeared in the video.

Other known people involved in the filming

Juliane — won the opportunity to participate in the filming through the TV programme.

Daniela — Juliane’s friend, whom Juliane brought with her.

Johannes — identified in the report as Art Director.

Saven — identified in the report as Darsteller (performer/actor).

Juliane, Daniela and the staircase scene

Johannes tells the girls what they are supposed to do: they have to walk down a staircase while a woman in red walks up it. Then girls are supposed to look at her and continue walking. The report then shows the filming of this scene from above.

Video was cancelled due to Princess Diana death

TV report directly connects the cancellation of the video with similarity of its plot to the death of Princess Diana. At one point, the male voice-over compares the plot of the video with the tragedy. At the end of the report, the narrator says that the band decided not to release the video because of the similarity, in order to avoid public backlash.

Speculations based on the available sources

Juliane and Daniela may have appeared only in the staircase scene.

Afterwards Saven asks Juliane what she thinks about the filming. She says that going down the staircase was not difficult. Saven agrees that it is not as difficult as it looks.

This makes it seem possible that the girls were involved only in this scene. However, this is my speculation, since the report simply does not show enough of the filming to establish this.

Saven may have appeared in the scene with the woman in red.

While watching the overhead footage of the staircase scene, a man who looks like Saven can be seen near the woman in red. A similar-looking man can also be seen standing next to her in the earlier shot where she is shown close-up.

Open questions

When exactly was the TV report broadcast?

An archive by Lars Mahurin lists it as: 1998.00.00 — RTL2, Bravo TV, Making Of Das Modell, without exact date.

The label “Making Of” seems wrong to me, since the actual Rammstein making-of videos from this period have a very different format.

At the same time, the report repeatedly says that Juliane was happy to receive this surprise for Christmas. The filming took place on November 12, 1997 – about six weeks before Christmas.

Was Philipp Stölzl actually present in the report?

During the part involving Johannes, there is a man standing near him who looks similar to Philipp Stölzl in that time. However, the image quality is too poor to identify him with confidence. The man is not identified in the report and does not speak, so his identity remains unknown.

Actual plot of the video.

RammWiki states that: “the model flees from the press from a hotel and dies in a car accident.” This looks like a speculation based on fact of voice-over in TV report comparing plot of the video to the Princess Diana death. Nothing more was told or shown.

“Roll: 1 SR 3” and “Scene: F1 / 1” meaning: they appear to be internal production markings, and there is currently no reliable source explaining heir meaning.

The woman in red

For me this is the biggest mystery surrounding the video.

She is hard to overlook: she wears a bright red dress and has very light hair, making her stand out strongly from the rest of the setting.

The famous shot showing her is taken directly from the TV report. RammWiki uses this shot in the place where the released Rammstein videos have their YouTube thumbnails.

Who was this woman? At present, there is no known answer.

Chad Kruspe and his biggest fan named Till

Upvotes

I just read an old interview from Richard (2019) an almost died laughing and thought I would share it here, maybe someone else finds it funny too.

Interviewer: Did you live together?

Richard: Yes, Till and I lived together. I brought him to Berlin and convinced him to make music in the first place. Till used to be a fan of mine! He would always carry my guitar case into the rehearsal room.

Songs that are better live than in the studio

Upvotes

Rammstein are known for both having one of the best and most flawless discographies of them all and for their legendary live shows. However, I asked myself on which songs actually sounds better live, and tried to identify songs that come across significantly better live than in their album versions.

My opinion (in chronological order):
Asche zu Asche, Seemann, Heirate mich, Laichzeit, Rammstein, Sehnsucht, Engel, Links 234, Ich will, Feuer frei, Los, Zerstören, Rammlied, Wiener Blut, Radio, Was ich liebe, Tattoo, Armee der Tristen, Angst.

There are ofc way more songs that are absolutely amazing live but in most cases I still think the album version is just as good or even better.

Overall, going through all of the albums, I think Herzeleid works better live bc the studio sound simply isn't that good for their own standard. Sehnsucht and Mutter are fantastic on both. Reise, Reise and Rosenrot for me are clear studio albums rather than live bangers. LIFAD is mixed. Untitled works on both but you can tell that the band intended to write songs that also work for their stadium tour and it worked out. Zeit then again for me is a clear studio album. Their choices for the live shows also reflect that. Many fans tend to complain about the lack of Rosenrot or Zeit songs being played at live but I honestly think it's justified. Not bc the albums aren't good, they are, but bc they're simply not that suited for live shows compared to other ones.

What do you think?

Question about authenticity from 2001

Moin moin!

I wanted to ask you guys about the authenticity of my signed Sehnsucht CD sleeve from Summer of 2001. Here is the backstory.

I joined the Rammstein fan club I wanna say in April of 2001. During the Summer of 2001 Rammstein did their Mutter tour. They played an old club in DC which I used to go to called Nation which sadly has long since been demolished. I remember after the show I waited outside to see if any of the band members would come out and sign some stuff. Rammstein motivated me to learn German back in 98 when I was with my dad in Munich and purchased Sehnsucht at a Saturn ,,Geiz ist geil!“ after watching Du Hast on MTV a few weeks prior. Since then I was an exchange student in 02-03 and got my Bachelor’s degree in Heidelberg. So they had a huge impact on my life! Anyways sadly they never showed up that night.

The next day I wrote to the webmaster because one of the features of the fan club back then was meet and greets. I explained to them that Rammstein motivated me to learn German and that I was about to enter my senior year in high school and was hoping to someday live in Germany. The webmasters were very friendly and asked for my address. About a week later an envelope arrives. Inside were two promo cards which I know were auto pen because of the indentures and I compared them to other promo cards from that time. However, in a plastic bag was a CD sleeve from Sehnsucht. The signatures look like live ink and were different from the promo cards signed in auto pen. I framed it back in 2002 with anti glare museum glass and a few years ago brought it back from VA to Miami where it’s now hanging on my wall.

So my question is do you guys think the signatures are real? I was curious about your thoughts. I found this one website which has a similar CD sleeve which was signed at a meet and greet in 97 at World of Music at Galeria Kaufhof next to Ostbahnhof in Berlin here. I’d never sell it but I was just wondering after all of these years. Thank you reading and letting me share my story!

Vielen Dank jungs!

Shot this for a good price!
It has the Sunflare tag so I’m confident that it’s very old, also the Heart on the chest is something they haven’t used after the Sehnsucht era (as far as I know, correct me if I’m wrong)
I just like to know to what time it released since I’m collecting old merch pieces 🙂‍↕️

Does Rammstein have any happy songs/songs with happy meanings?

Upvotes

Their songs are all so dark and disturbing, songs about dying, cannibalism, incest, orphans, murder, etc.

Don't get me wrong, that's part of the reason I love Rammstein, but it makes me curious if they have any songs with genuinely happy meanings.

Is there a diffrence between the made in germany, single and normal mutter version of links 2 3 4?

I feel like there is but its so small I cant tell the difference. Besides the fact that both single and made in germany dont have the cut off ending as the album version does

Official Shop Question

Upvotes

Hello, fellow lovers of Rammstein! 🤘
Quick question: I’m looking to buy a shirt (or two) from the official U.S. online shop, but I’m wondering about the sizing.

Has anyone here purchased a shirt from their official shop before? I normally wear a 2XL, but I’m wondering if I should go with a 3XL to account for any potential shrinkage after washing.

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!
Also… which shirt design should I get? 😂 I’m having a hard time choosing!
