Interesting. He might be blowing smoke, but he said when he was door knocking for signatures that most folks immediately asked how he stood on the 2A.

Folks, in regards to the disaffiliation campaign, the idea is that we have pro2A candidates on both tickets in the general, so no matter who wins, we do. Vote for whomever you want in the general, but the idea is to put our thumbs on the scale in the primaries to ensure rabid anti-2A folks don't even make it to the ballot.

This is Ross McCurdy, running for Lieutenant Governor and I'm really glad to see this discussion on Reddit.

When getting nomination signatures to get on the ballot, the number 1 most frequently asked question was "Where do you stand on the 2nd Amendment?" That was an easy question for me as I am a steadfast defender of our Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights.

I am the only candidate in the Primary for Lieutenant Governor who has served in the Military and the only Primary Candidate who is standing up for our 2nd Amendment Rights. Some of the other candidates are strongly anti 2A, endorsed by anti 2A groups, and have said (paraphrasing) they are ok with a ban, which is taking people's firearms. I'm not ok with taking firearms from the good, law abiding people in Rhode Island.

The people in Rhode Island's firearm community are focused on responsible ownership, gun safety, training, safe storage and are all for safe communities and safe schools. We want to be able to protect ourselves and our families and don't want our Constitutional Rights infringed upon, as they have been over the last 4 years.

I support the Hearing Protection Act. Suppressors only reduce noise to about the level of a gas powered lawn mower but that will still protect our hearing. Suppressors are legal in 42 states and with should be legal in Rhode Island for law abiding firearm owners. I also support National Reciprocity for carry permits. Our driver's licenses and marriage licenses are good in all 50 states, so should our carry permits.

There are 160,000 firearm owners in Rhode Island, and when we Vote wisely in a focused manner politicians will take notice and stop stomping on our 2A rights. With active Voter participation we will be able to protect our rights!

Thanks for posting here sir. You seem like the real deal, and I think many would be happy to support you. We've been running a disaffiliation campaign here to afford otherwise republican gun owners the opportunity to vote for folks like you. Are there others you know of that are worth of our attention?

And not to be a debbie downer, but what real power would the Lt. Gov have to enact change for the atrocious laws that have been passed here in RI, and the dozens more that will surely come next session if we don't vote out the antis?

Your disaffiliation campaign is very wise and I commend you and the people involved. The Democratic Primary coming up on Wednesday September 9th is hugely important and the 2A community has the power to make the changes they want to see. The only candidates in the Democratic Primary who I know support the 2nd Amendment are Joe Solomon for Attorney General, and me for Lieutenant Governor. It is true that in Rhode Island the Lieutenant Governor has pretty much no state assigned power or designated tasks aside from chairing three committees and being in position to become Governor if the situation arises, as it did when Dan McKee was Lieutenant Governor. In the case where the Lieutenant Governor becomes the Governor this is a complete game changer and we want someone who supports our Constitutional rights in this position, and in as many legislative positions as possible.

I have a few other pro2a friends in the legislature that need to be reelected (a quick peek at the votes for the mag ban and awb is the best bet, guys like Doc, Tom Noret, etc, and obviously the handful of Republicans)

I've been a member of Smithfield Sportsman's Club for over 10 years, own a variety of firearms from vintage to modern, and I was recently standing in the 2 hour gun store lines along with many other good people.
