I did Not read through the entire bill. But I did through the suggested required forms of ID. A REAL ID, a valid passport, a military ID card, a valid gov-issued photo ID card or a birth certificate. These are documents most individuals have one or more of, regardless of race or ethnic background. Also 176 countries, aside from the US, have some form of voter id requirement.
Many people's birthdays certificates have been lost or damaged over the years. Most Americans dont have a passport. Real id coats money and requires a birth certificate. Im fine with requiring id, but id say make it far reaching enough just about everyone would have what they need without even spending a cent, so include astandard drivers license, employee id, a university id, a library card, drivers license plus a utility bill, drivers license plus original social security card, etc.
Not sure where you got those numbers. The numbers I found, which id put more weight on than whatever you're saying, showed less thsn 50% of americans have a passport.
And regardless, the law says people taxes are illegal. Which the correct interpretation of that is that voting, including any documentation required to vote, should cost $0.00
