Why on earth would I ever respect a religion that teaches that I should burn in hell for all eternity for loving the "wrong" person.

Yep. The concept of original sin to this day angers me.

You can be living your life totally unaware, not harming anyone, but will still be damned to hell after death to live in torment and agony for eternity... because Jeffrey the 17yo evangelist didn't knock on your door and tell you about the word of Christ and how to live your life properly.

One such street evangelist desperately wanted to convince me that the concept of Original Sin was TOTALLY normal and not at all a manipulation/fear/sales tactic. To this day when I ask how is it fair or believable that I should automatically OWE something--not to God, mind you, but the people in power in Christianity who tell me I do--and have never gotten a good answer.
