Can I get a >15 LPA SDE placement without a corporate internship?
I’m a final-year student at a Tier-1 college, from a non-circuital branch, with a CGPA slightly below 8.
I’m sitting for SDE placements this year. I didn’t do a typical corporate internship this summer, but I did complete GSoC with a positive evaluation.
How much of a disadvantage is the lack of a corporate internship likely to be? Will it significantly hurt my chances of getting an SDE role paying >15 LPA?
For context, I have a decent DSA/competitive programming background and some projects as well.
Would appreciate insights from people who have gone through placements in a similar situation.

You're actually doing better than you might think. GSoC is a big deal and shows you can handle real-world projects, which can be as valuable as a corporate internship. The positive evaluation from GSoC will stand out on your resume. With your DSA/competitive programming skills and projects, you're not at a disadvantage. Make sure to highlight these in your applications and during interviews. Practice coding interviews and understand system design basics, as these are important for SDE roles. If you need extra resources, PracHub has some great practice problems and interview tips. Keep focusing on your strengths and you'll be in a good position for those >15 LPA roles.
