Public Sevice Announcement Individual donation requests no longer allowed. Organization requests still allowed.

Upvotes

Due to the overwhelming results from the poll, individual requests for money/items are no longer allowed.

These types of posts are unfortunately often used as a way to scam money from empathetic individuals. This sub puts rules like this in place to protect the participants.

We will be putting together a list of resources for food, housing, and basic needs to sticky at the top of the sub, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to reply with a comment below.

good private landlords

Upvotes

hi, my partner and i need suggestions for good private landlords please! we live within university city and would like to stay in the area because of work. we have to move urgently, but our credit scores aren’t great, so we’re hoping for landlords that would let that pass since we do have decent income and good rental history. we’d be moving with someone else who does have really good credit and income

Long shot but I haven't spotted one on marketplace for months. Looking for this specific version, willing to pay handsomely.

Though, would be interested in purchasing a used of the other two non-discontinued models if anyone is looking to get rid of theirs.

Buying Buying: Tupperware, Extension Cord, Small Radio, and/or Acoustic Guitar

Upvotes

See title. I've been (unsuccessfully) hunting items at local thrift stores and figured I'd post here as well.

  • Tupperware: large containers capable of holding a 5 lbs bag of rice or 5 lbs bag of flour.
  • Extension cord: 6ft or longer.
  • Radio: Something small that will fit on my kitchen table so I can practice turning into my dad by playing KYW news radio in the mornings while I drink my coffee.
  • Acoustic guitar models: Yamaha FS700 or FS800, Fender CD60s or CC60s, Ibanez Artwood AW54, Orangewood Oliver or Rey, Alvarez AD60 or AF60, Breedlove Pursuit or Discovery. Basically, I'm looking for a quality beginner guitar that won't break the bank.

For Sale Selling Minky Ergo Plus Ironing Board ($50), Crosley 6-in-1 Turntable System ($80), Honeywell HEPA Air Purifier HPA300 w/some extra air filters ($150)

Upvotes

Selling some random items we've had kicking around our apartment.

  • The Minky Ergo Plus ironing board retails for $115 and is barely used... it's built like a tank and very heavy, I'm scrawny and find it too cumbersome to use but if you've got actual arm muscles you'll be fine.
  • The Honeywell HEPA HPA300 air purifier retails for $235 and works very well, and we've got some extra air filters I'll throw in. NOTE: I've got the black Honeywell model, not the white one.
  • The Crosley 6-in-1 Lancaster turntable retails for $140 and works well. I use it occasionally to play vinyls and listen to the radio, I also tested the CD player and verified that works. I don't own any casette tapes so I can't verify the casette player works, but I imagine it works fine.

If you want photos of the exact objects drop me a comment or DM and I'll take some. I'm located in West Poplar, you'll have to come pick these items up as I don't have a way to transport them. Cash only.

Selling Stuff Moving Sale - $150 OBO

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hi! My husband and I are moving and unfortunately these two pieces won’t work in our new home.

The TV stand is less than 2 years old, has an electric fireplace (remote included), and is pictured with a 55 inch TV on it.

The credenza / buffet is in excellent shape - no scratches or nicks and both sides have two movable shelves for storage.

We are selling both for $150, OBO. Buyer must pick up in fishtown by September 15. Both items are on the main floor of a rowhome so you would just need to carry them out and down the 3 steps. Happy to help load them into your car. DM me with any questions.

Go birds!!

Public Sevice Announcement I need a Chinese friend to drink with and speak Chinese.

Upvotes

So this is a weird post i know, but I’m looking for a friend (preferably male), who speaks chinese, that would like to go out for drinks on occasion and speak Chinese.
For reference, I’m a 40’s year old man, and this is not a romantic thing. I am happily married and speak conversational Chinese. I’m not terrible at it as i use it daily for work, and i also have lots of friends in china that i meet with regularly online to chat.
I’m just looking to sharpen my in person speaking skills and maybe drink a beer or two along the way.
Maybe you suck at English and want to go 50/50?
Maybe you just want to speak more Chinese and miss your mother tongue?
Either way, I’m just looking for a drinking buddy of any age to meet and talk about whatever in mandarin. I can keep up with daily conversation but maybe struggle with specific vocab and higher level grammar.

For Hire Any part-time service industry/music venue places hiring?

Upvotes

Needing to earn some extra money, and I did a lot of service industry/music venue stuff in a past life. That mostly entailed working door and barbacking.

I’m also relatively new to town and looking to make connections in the local music scene, so that’s part of why I’m looking for some work in this field.

Recommendations for engine repair?

Looking for some places to call about getting my engine fixed and possibly replaced. I had it looked at by one tech and they suggested a replacement so more investigation on that front might not be necessary
