From a German phonetic perspective, I would prefer to transcribe "th" as "se" rather than "z," as the former aligns more closely with the soft articulation of "th," whereas the German "z" is phonetically sharp and pronounced with greater intensity.

In american english spelling the letter "Z" can be pronounced like a german speaking person pronouncing "The" badly. So ZRAM = The RAM

I dont think it is a great joke since ZRAM is a software, not a kind of actual RAM.
That said, the joke is that a German would sound like they are saying ZRAM instead of "The RAM".
RAM is a hardware component that goes in a computer for expanding in multitasking and task efficiency.
