Meme needing explanation Petah what does the cubic function mean
•
u/Jynxer_2426 5h ago
The equation in the image can be rewritten using the algebraic identity for a perfect cube: (a - b)³ = a³ - 3a²b + 3ab² - b³. Solving for x gives a single real root: x = 5. Substituting this back into the sentence means they are unplugging the "P(5)", or PS5.
Math wizz out

Where does the P come from?

The P is a stretch when it isn’t specified for this particular polynomial function, and where’s the S…?
For a moment I thought that the presence of x and a cube (ie, box) might relate it to X-Box but there’s isn’t an X-Box 5.
Think it might just be that it’s ‘5’ and that’s enough to infer PS5.

P is math denotion for almost any polynomial isn't it? a perfct square is jsut cute.
I mean Px=5 Px5 isn't "terrible". I mean; it isnt good, either.

u/AndreasDasos 4h ago
P is common for polynomials but would never infer that a polynomial function is automatically to be denoted ‘P’ unless it’s explicitly named.
Px=5 doesn’t work as a statement at all here, nor P(x) = 5. It’s that P(5) = 0, and x = 5. Even then, it would be an extreme stretch for that ‘S’.
Yeah I think that he’s just calling it his ‘5’ and the PS is meant to be inferred rather than corresponding to anything else here.

This sounds like the joke someone who thinks they are a pro gamer would make, when they are actually some super obnoxious guy no one likes.

x³ - 15x² + 75× - 125 = 0
(x³-125) + (-15x² + 75x) = 0
(x - 5)(x² + 5x + 25) + (-15x + 75x) = 0
(x - 5)(x² + 5x + 25) - 15x(x - 5) = 0
(x - 5) [(x² + 5x + 25) - 15x] = 0
(x - 5)(x² - 10x + 25) = 0
(x - 5)(x - 5)(x - 5) = 0
(x - 5)³ = 0
∛(x - 5) = ∛0
x - 5 = 0
x = 5
They took the (PS)5.

how x became ps ?

Stands for "Perfect square" As in "Perfect Square of 5" (x-5)³=0

X = 5. So maybe PS5?? I don't know. It's a shitty joke.

I went to a small zoo once, all they had was one dog.
It was a shih tzu.

I think if you do the equation the result is 5 which means PS5. they're unplugging and stealing the PS5 which is his most prized possession

something related to plugging something into a function? I don’t know what unplugging would entail in that so maybe simply just random = funny
•
u/TreacleQueasy8478 5h ago
Do the algebra, then you'll know it

•
u/Flowsbow 5h ago
Petah I can’t do algebra
(this is literally just a function I graphed it in desmos already its just 3 asymptotes what do you mean do the algebra 😭)
