No that's not true at all and it's a very simplified view of what was happening. Snape was a troubled kid from a bad home and was already known for his inteterest in the dark arts at a young age.
Death eaters and Voldemort were taking power and this guy doesn't hide his disdain for mudbloods. He's a racist shithead. He should be put on the right path rather than bullied, but he wasn't just some poor innocent getting bullied by the football captain because he was bored and wanted to feel better about himself.
There's a lot of Snape revisionism because he loved one woman but he was an awful human being through and through
Not just was into and hung out with people who liked dark arts. He himself made dark arts, as we learn in Half-Blood Prince. Like the infamous Sectumsempra, a spell that can cut people open, with dark magic, so even healing it needs special knowledge.
I hope the series will be book accurate with the Snape depiction. And all these apologists will get a reality check. He was a real piece of shit, who did a few good things in his life. Most of them later, when he got kinda forced out of being a death eater, but he still acted like a PoS.
It's not very likely, I think. They cast him to be very handsome and they know that Snape loving Lily is a huge deal for a lot of fans, so if anything I expect them to soften him up in some ways.
