Breeding should be left only to ethical breeders who know what they're doing. It's not as simple as just letting two birds hatch eggs, it requires a deep knowledge of genetics, the parents' medical and genetic history and the special care both the babies and the parents need. Not to mention knowing how to vet people if you Can't/Don't wanna keep the babies to make sure they don't end up in horrible hands and don't end up with somebody who would breed them further without knowing what they're doing. It can also put the parents' and squabs' health and life at risk if you don't know what Exactly you're doing. Birds with unknown genetic and health history should Never be bred, it's not ethical to further breed genetically unsound birds because it will contribute to the issue of bringing more poorly bred birds with poor health and/or temperament into the world. Backyard breeding is a huge issue because backyard breeders for example sell babies who are way too young to be away from their parents, handraise birds (unnecessary handraising is unethical due to the physical and mental harm to the birds), don't really care about the welfare of the birds and tend to have a very poor standard of care and don't verify if people are actually a good home for their birds. Ethical breeders also have contracts which prevent people from dumping the birds they got from them so you won't find ethically bred well bred birds in shelters/rescues.
