Moderator Annoucement The “best evidence” for the paranormal is getting harder to find every time someone asks for it.

Upvotes

This question is being asked several times a week at this point.

Everyone has a different standard for what they consider “credible evidence,” and what persuades one person may not persuade another. What seems to do the best job is having a personal experience, but those anecdotal stories rarely persuade anyone who wasn’t already a believer.

Either way, the best way to find this evidence is by…you know…looking for it. Try using the search function on the subreddit.

And to all of you skeptics who were genuinely convinced by a piece of evidence you found online, please post it on this subreddit!

Video Evidence Ghost caught at work

Upvotes

For context: my mother in law works as a security guard at a relatively new apartment complex where wealthy families/people live in the middle of the city.

She usually works mornings but sometimes gets the night shift. In this particular night she went to the restroom while her co-worker looked at the cameras and while he was looking at them he noticed the lights were turning o and off at the exit ramp (this happens only when the lights detect movement).

So he started recording and noticed a white thing moving around the parking lot. He is speaking in Spanish and essentially what he’s saying is that there is something moving outside, that it’s not a trick of the light and that he always experiences the paranormal stuff.

Here is the video evidence

Haunted House Paranormal Activity in Hotel in NH (Centennial Hotel)

Post image
Upvotes

🚨 i’m going to start this off by saying I know this sounds absolutely crazy. I currently work at the Centenial Hotel in Concord New Hampshire. It’s an incredibly old building I believe from the 1800s which used to be a nursing home at one point in time. I recently learned there was once even a crematorium in the basement. Throughout the past year, I’ve heard several paranormal encounters from different staff. But this past week was absolutely insane. Too much to even list but I’ll give you the main one.

We recently hired a maintenance guy who was servicing our showers. We had him staying on the third floor, which is notorious for different encounters throughout the years.

Apparently, one night/early morning he left without saying anything the next day he was a no call no-show. The owner was trying to get in touch with him and he didn’t respond. Finally, we made a last ditch effort to reach out to one of his friends who then told us he had an experience in one of the rooms which sent him to a hospital to get checked out. He said a figure was standing in the room and dove into the center of his forehead. After the experience He was having severe panic attacks and heart palpitations. He wants nothing to do with the hotel. He won’t speak to any of us. He is completely freaked out.

I’ve stayed on the third floor. It’s almost a nightly thing that something happens that you can’t explain I constantly hear somebody snapping their fingers with no rhythm. It’s a very distinct sound when nobody else is around. I don’t know why there’s more activity lately but they’re absolutely is. We did just sell the building to new owners.
We have a housekeeper who’s been working there for 17+ years and has story after story. Just wanted to put it all out on here in case somebody else has stayed here and had a similar experience. Feel free to reach out.

Experience I think i hit something bad with my car accidentally and now it's pissed

Upvotes

so I was backing into my driveway when I hit a bush (yeah I'm a shitty driver) and I saw this tall creature in the rearview camera. It was off white and tall and freaky. But I told myself I was imagining it, it was late, and dark, it could have been something else. So I left to do my errand, refusing to look back. But during the drive home I couldn't stop thinking about it. So I get back, eager to get inside but before I can even open the door of the car to get out, there's this thudding sound. So i listened. Couldn't tell if it was footsteps or something knocking on the car, or what. At first I was like okay it's just the car settling. Maybe something is rolling around in the trunk. but it didn't stop it just kept going. And it wasn't rhythmic it sounded organic. Tbh after what I saw it never occured to me that it might be a bear but also. When the sounds stopped 15-30 seconds after they began, they didn't start back up again. I would have heard something as large as a bear walking away but I didn't hear anything afterwards or see a bear.

I got really freaked out so I called my brother to come get me. He came out of the house with a baseball bat. By the time he got out there the thumping had paused, started again for like 4 seconds, and stopped for good. We both got inside and locked the doors and windows and shit. But ummmmmm I'm thinking I hit something bad and I should probably try and protect myself. Any tips? Like. Should I leave an offering as an apology invest in some crosses and holy water or what. Lo key scared to go to sleep because what if it's one of those dream manipulating mother fuckers.

For the record, while I have no history of hallucinations, schizophrenia or anything of that nature, I am a generally paranoid person. It's technically possible that the weird sounds after thinking I hit something bad were just a coincidence. But as a paranoid person I'd rather be safe than sorry so. Any tips or advice?

Debunk This I think my house is haunted by a chatty movie nerd.

Upvotes

I’ve had a bunch of weird things happen in this home before, but what went down last night was easily the most consistent and confusing experience yet.
So last night I was home alone, and around 10:00 PM I heard this weird rustling noise coming from the living room. My first thought was that a balloon my mom brought over to celebrate my recent engagement was floating into the ceiling fan or something. I went to check… the balloon was fine, chilling peacefully in the corner, and the noise stopped. Okay, whatever, probably just my imagination.
I went back to my bedroom. Fast forward to around midnight…. I can’t sleep, so I head to the kitchen to grab some apple juice. Ozzy (my cat) is right there by my feet, and suddenly we both hear what sounds like the cat door flapping.
I instantly think, Oh shit, a raccoon is trying to break in.
I flip on the lights and the sound stops. I stand there, wait a few minutes, and the noise starts up again. So I cautiously creep over to check it out. The cat door isn't moving at all, but now the noise is non-stop. No pauses, no breaks, just continuous clanking.
I look around the room and finally spot the source: it’s my DVD player, repeatedly opening and closing. Opening and closing. Opening and closing.
To make it weirder, Dead Poets Society is sitting in the tray. I don’t even own that movie.
I check to see if something is leaning against the button. Nope. I power it off, but it forces itself back open. A few seconds later, it turns itself right back on and opens again. Except this time, the digital display screen doesn't cycle through its normal "Hello" and go to the button labels... it just stays frozen on "HELLO".
Freaky, but it’s an old machine, so I figure it's just short-circuiting. I reach behind it to unplug it.
IT’S NOT EVEN PLUGGED IN.
Okay, nope. I'm done. Every light in the house is coming on and staying on.
I bolt back into my room and start typing this out to my sister. The room is completely silent….. the TV is off, Ozzy isn't meowing, and he isn't even in the room with me. Out of absolutely nowhere, my Google Speaker speaks up in the dark:
"Good evening."
NOPE. FUCK NOPE. GET ME SOME SAGE AND CALL THE DAMN PRIEST.

UPDATE:

First off, y’all are hilarious. Now here’s the update because apparently I have a new roommate.
I got home around 6:30 last night and called my fiancé as soon as I walked through the door. A few minutes into the call, I walked over to the DVD player and noticed it was STILL ON somehow, displaying a timestamp of 4:47 seconds, which was exactly how long I had been on the phone at that point.
The SECOND I noticed this, the intermittent opening and closing started again. No pattern. Just casually opening and closing like it had shit to do.
My fiancé and I started trying to find more logical explanations, because apparently we enjoy torturing ourselves, and we couldn’t find one.
At that point I figured, okay homie, you just wanna hang out, so I finished my phone call and started making dinner. I had tried to put the original movie into another DVD player, but there were technical difficulties, so I settled on Netflix.
And yes, I know how absolutely insane this sounds, but I explained all of this to the DVD player/ghost. 😂 It actually settled down a bit, so I let it help pick what we watched and promised we would come back to Dead Poets Society.
I also set a firm boundary of, “Hey, I’m down to hang out, but you gotta be chill,” and then, because apparently this is my life now, I made it a small bowl of mac and cheese.
After that, the night actually went pretty smoothly. It opened and closed a few more times, but didn’t get stuck on the “HELLO” screen again, and Google stayed silent.
So all in all, if this actually is some type of entity, I genuinely think it just wants to hang out.
Apparently I have a ghost roommate now.

Unexplained Looking for some insight on a weird experience

Upvotes

Hello all, just looking for a bit of insight on a weird experience that I've been having. For some context, my grandmother was a life long medium, doing spiritual work, tarot readings, even assisting with local missing person cases back in the 70's/80's, so our family has always been "sensitive" to the paranormal. Feeling presences, seeing apparition and the like were all fairly normal growing up. I was very much this way until a little over 10 years ago, I get feelings here and there but nothing like when I was younger. With that said, for the last almost 8 years, I've had issues with waking up randomly throughout the night with that feeling of being watched, kind of anxious and where the hair on the back of your neck stands up. How my apartment is laid out, lying in bed you can see the big mirror in the bathroom, and I've always slept with the bedroom door open cause the windows are poorly insulated and the room warms up quick. 2 is weeks ago, I had decided to close the bathroom door after a particularly gnarly deuce, and for the 1st time in over 8 years I slept all through the night. I picked up on this in the morning, and decided to go a few days with the door closed and slept soundly every night. On 2 occasions I decided to test it a bit and left the door open, both nights right back to feeling of being watched and waking up all through the night. Am I losing my mind or is there something in that damn bathroom!?!

Debunk This Dog knows something is here.

Upvotes

Hello! i’ll start off from the beginning.

I (17F) live with my two disabled parents (both in their 50s, father is dying from cancer.), and my autistic brother (19M).
For a few months, up to two years now I have been experiencing paranormal things in this house.

I’ve lived here since I was born, I’ve never known the history of the house or who owned it before us.
I live in Australia, so, i’m not too sure on how keen people are on educating others on ghosts & spirits.
My family refuses to believe in it, except for my mother. She says she’s seen things, had face-to-face encounters with people in the house that were gone mere seconds later.

Back to the point,
My dog bear (6 Months, Sarplaninac) has started to not leave the kitchen - like, at all.
The farthest he will go is next to the kitchen island, and that’s it. It’s like he sees something we don’t, because whenever we try to coax him out with even his favourite human food, he will whine and insist on sitting/laying in the kitchen to watch us cook.

He used to have free roam of the house and our backyard, he was never like this. At first we thought maybe he had a hard time walking on the smooth flooring, so, we placed mats down for him to walk all the way to the living room to no avail.

Now, last night. He usually doesn’t sleep in the house but he refused to go outside last night, barking at us and even growling as if saying something was in this house.
Around 2-3am, I personally can’t recall which one, he started howling. Absolutely HOWLING.

Like something was standing right there, teasing him or trying to play. He was growling, snarling, barking, everything to indicate someone had broken in.

So automatically I got up to find nothing. Nothing stolen, nothing moved, no door open, no window unlocked.

All I remember was that it was insanely cold, even when I had the house heater on, and two oil heaters on.

He refused to leave my side the rest of the night until 8AM when I got up for work.

It just leaves me to wonder, what did he see that I didn’t?
Was it trying to play, or was it trying something much more sinister?

Any theories or explanations would be GREATLY appreciated, it has spooked me out immensely and I cannot talk to anyone about it.

Experience Anyone know anything about this? Please?

Upvotes

A few years ago, 2019 late August, my friends and I were playing tag outside late at night and so when were ready to go inside I stopped and noticed this orange sun-like shape in the yard, now we have a pretty big yard since i live on a farm so it was about 2 ish acres away, but i saw this orange shaped sun and i called over my sister and two best friends (who are our neighbors) and we all saw it, then we all rushed inside and grabbed my mom (who is a scientist and knows a lot about strange things) and when we came back out it was still there and growing, it was getting larger and larger and higher into the sky (about the height of tulip popular so about 70 feet) then once it reached the size of a mini cooper it shrunk real fast and went white. That was it, none of us had any idea what it was, the moon was behind us, there was no sound, it was so strange and 7 years later we still sometimes bring it up, so i finally thought id ask on here and see if anyone knows anything about this. Im not sure if this was paranormal, a UFO, a portal, something supernatural or even natural but please ask questions or comment, It would be nice to have a little closure, thank you.

Encounter Im not sure what this could be

Upvotes

(a little bit of context, I live an a very old apartment building, I've had conversations with other tenants and this one guy that lived in the building for years will make a joke about the building being haunted every now and again. I never really believed the guy but I'm starting to think differently)

It was about a month after I had first moved in. I woke up rlly early in the morning, like 1-130am. And there was this insane banging on my door. When I opened my eyes I remember I felt normal but the second I stood up I felt so disoriented it was insane. I could see straight and clear, I was aware but I could tell immediately all of my senses were incredibly dulled. It was like I could sense the world around me but it was dialed to 1. I looked through the peephole of my door and it's this lady. She looked like she was in her mid ish 20s. I'd say 24 if I had to guess. Her cloths looked really old and she had a makeshift cloth hat on. She kept telling me I'm going to come outside with her and follow her outside with the others. I kept telling her no and there was a little back and forth. She asked my name but I told her I wouldn't tell her that and that she had to leave. Before I knew it my door was open and I was standing in the hallway still telling her no. I asked about the others and she just said I'm going to come with her. Her words made my head feel heavy, it hurt to hear them but also made everything a little more numb every time she spoke. It felt like nails being pressed deeper into my mind every time she said a word. The same thing over and over. I remember her walking down the hallway and looking back at me, It took literally all of my focus but I went back inside and locked my door. I remember waking up the next day and it felt like a dream. But over the next few days and weeks it all came back as memories. It felt so surreal and I still get anxious thinking about it

Question Floating white woman

Upvotes

Hi, a friend of mine is from the Philippines. He told me that he often had paranormal experiences as a child.

Because he was so scared, he kept telling himself it wasn't real; he simply didn't want to accept it.

It was only when I asked that he gave a specific example: He was asleep, and when he opened his eyes, he saw a faceless white woman hovering over his bed. Even though she had no face, he could clearly sense that she was looking at him. He couldn't scream, but eventually managed to move and run to his family.

I wanted to ask if anyone knows what this could be; I’ve often seen documentaries where people report similar experiences. Now I’ve actually met someone in person who went through something like that.

I tried Googling it but couldn't find an answer. Maybe someone else has had the same experience.

Experience My Brother Was Never the Same After That Night

Upvotes

One day, we took a family trip to my grandmother’s house. Since there were more of us than could fit in the same car, and because of a few complications, we decided that my siblings would go first, getting a ride with the owner of the farm where we lived. My parents, my sister’s boyfriend, and I would go a few days later.

On the way back, we did the same thing, but this time my mother and I were the ones who stayed behind to leave with the farm owner.

Everything went well. My father and my siblings returned home and everything was fine. A friend of my sister’s came to visit her and stayed for a couple of days, but after she left, my mother felt that something was wrong. She called my sister to talk and, out of nowhere, said:

“I think you should put a mattress in my room. Your father sleeps in the bed with your brother, and you can sleep on the mattress, so you won’t be alone.”

The strange thing is that this had never been a problem before, but it seemed like something had worried my mother that day. My sister also seemed somewhat uneasy and agreed without any resistance.

That night, they arranged the beds. My father left the bedroom light on and turned off all the other lights. Then everyone went to sleep.

In the middle of the night, the light started bothering my father. He called my little brother, who was about ten or eleven years old at the time, and asked him to turn off the bedroom light and turn on the one in the living room. That way, there would still be some light, but it wouldn’t be shining directly into their eyes.

He got up without complaining and went to do what our father had asked.

We live in a simple place, in a typical Brazilian farmhouse. The layout is very different from houses in the United States. The living room was right next to the bedroom, so my brother only had to cross the doorway to get there. The light switch was at the far end of the room, right next to the door that led to my sister’s bedroom. There was no hallway or another room blocking the way.

Everything was fine until my father heard a scream.

He jumped out of bed. My sister woke up too, and the two of them went to see why my brother had screamed. They found him crying and mumbling that there was someone in my sister’s bedroom.

He couldn’t describe it properly or give many details. My brother cried like a baby and couldn’t stay alone for days.

Years later, while we were drinking a beer and talking, my brother finally revealed, in detail, what he had seen.

According to him, when he reached for the light switch, his eyes automatically went toward the door of that bedroom. But it wasn’t empty like it should have been.

Instead, standing there with its body inside the room and its head sticking out through the doorway, there was a boy.

He said the boy was extremely pale, with very light hair and skin, almost like an albino. His eyes were enormous and black, but they seemed almost like headlights because, despite being dark, they had a strange kind of glow that allowed him to see. His mouth was open too, not as if he were speaking, but forming an “O.”

And the strangest part was that the thing wasn’t looking at my brother. It was looking toward the bedroom my brother had just left, where my father and sister were sleeping.

My brother kept staring, completely paralyzed, unable to turn on the light or say anything, until the creature seemed to realize that it was being watched and finally looked at him.

It was so terrifying that he finally screamed, waking everyone up.

He babbled the story to my father, unable to give many details. Our father went into the room, walked through the entire house, turned on all the lights, and checked every room.

There was nothing there.

But my brother never forgot it.

And the strange thing is, I feel like something changed in him after that day. As if something inside him had broken and never healed.

He became more violent, more reckless. He was no longer the affectionate, slightly mischievous little kid we knew.

He was never the same again.

Maybe it’s just my perception, but I always think about it, and I can’t help wondering if that thing, whatever it was, did something to my brother, even if only indirectly.

Unexplained Someone called me, but there was no one there

Upvotes

Hi! So, a few years ago, I worked at a clothing store in a shopping mall for two years. One day, during my lunch break, instead of going to eat in the storage room upstairs, as I usually did since we had a small table and a refrigerator there. I simply sat at the bottom of the stairs leading to the storage room. While I was eating, I heard someone call my name, so I replied, “What?” No one answered. At first, I ignored it, thinking it might be a coworker who was upstairs looking for something. Then she called me a second time. This time I put down my food, went upstairs, and looked for my coworker, but no one was there. The voice was clearly one of theirs. I quickly went back downstairs and headed to the front of the store, where I saw that all my coworkers were gathered there, including the one I thought had called me. It’s worth noting that it would have been impossible for anyone to have passed by without me noticing, since the stairs were literally the only way up. I told them what had happened, and they were afraid to go up there, because apparently I wasn’t the first one to hear or see things. A few months later, at that same store, I went to have lunch but this time right up in the clothing warehouse, at the table we had there. There was a specific rack with at least 30 suit jackets hanging on it. Suddenly, I started to hear something swaying, and when I looked back, I saw that just one suit jacket is moving abruptly from left to right. The warehouse is hot, and there’s no ventilation whatsoever, which made the whole place super creepy and no possible explanation for this, at least to me. And I never had lunch there again.

A few months later, I was fired during layoff period on covid and soon started working at another clothing store in the same mall. One day, I was sitting at the bottom of the warehouse stairs when I heard someone calling my name again. So much time had passed that I didn’t even make the connection, especially since it was a different store. But when I heard my coworker call my name a second or third time, I got up and went over to her at the counter and asked what she wanted. She said she’d never called me and hadn’t even left the counter. I got goosebumps all over. Ever since I stopped working at that mall, I’ve never had that experience again.

I apologize for the long post, but honestly, it’s something I still can’t explain to this day, and it has left a lasting impression on me.

Debunk This Dragging sound in my attic

Upvotes

Lived in my new apartment for about 20 days. I live in a row house where there is 3 apartments, each with 2 floors. I live in one of the outermost apartments. Parts of the cold attic space in my apartment (not the other 2) are made into a little attic space that you can use, by the previous owner. My boyfriend helped me bring up the empty tv box up to the small attic space a couple days ago. Today I was sitting on the sofa, which is almost directly under the attic space, waiting for it to be time to go to work. No tv, no radio, or no phone was on and being used. No windows were open. I live alone. I suddenly heard dragging noises coming from up the attic. It sounded like a box was being dragged across the floor in the attic. And then it sounded like someone was aggressively pulling tape off a tape roll. It was very briefly. I thought at first it must have come from outside, went to check out the windows but no one was outside. It really did sound like it was coming from the attic however. I want to believe my apartment isn't haunted. I can hear my closest neighbors footsteps easily and whenever she is going up or down the stairs in her apartment so it COULD be coming from her apartment. But I swear it came from my attic space, at least it sounded like it.

Experience Odd experience when I was about 8

Upvotes

I used to live on military housing, and I'll preface by saying I didn't experience anything paranormal, but I did have one weird thing happen.

I believe it was a couple of days after my sister's birthday, and that morning I had come downstairs to get breakfast. The stairs had this bit at the end that was like a 90 degree turn to get to the living room. So 8-year old me comes down the stairs, turns the corner and I see my sister's birthday balloon floating in the corner behind the chair. No sooner than I had made eye contact with it, the thing just drops and disappears behind the couch. No noise or anything, and I was the only one up at that time. It was one of those silver-backed balloons that make sound if you just look at it wrong, but this made nothing but dropped like a rock. I, immediately went right back upstairs and slept for another hour.

I come back downstairs after waking up again with my mom in the kitchen making breakfast. I slowly walk over to the corner where the balloon was, and instantly jump onto the chair...to see the balloon still sitting there on the floor. Obviously it lost enough air to just stay on the floor like that, but to see it drop so suddenly still weirds me out.

Question Power shut off, wooden plaque and oven opened all at the same time. 3:30 AM last night.

Upvotes

No storm or wind, doors were locked. We live in our own home in the city so no upstairs neighbors being rowdy. Oven has no loose hinges. If anything, it's harder to open. I know nobody came in because our dog would've went crazy. The power was out for only about 30 seconds and the cause was "unknown". I have an EMF reader and me and my girlfriend are investigating tonight at 3:00 AM. I have photos of how the oven was open, the plaque and the power outage report if anybody's interested. Anything else we should try? Any advice? Thank you!

Trigger Warning / Murder Blood stains keep showing up

Upvotes

TW: Murder, blood, sexual assault

Hey, guys.

A few months ago there was a brutal murder across the street from me. To give some context: A young man was attacked and raped by a family member and another family member caught the perpetrator in the act, following him with a knife and stabbing him to death.

The inside of the building was covered in blood, as was a good portion of the sidewalk and road (the rapist ran across the street, where he ended up dying).

Tonight I was talking to a neighbour who lives in the building where this took place and she was telling me that the building floor (marble) had been cleaned many times but blood stains keep showing up. Does anyone know why this keeps happening?

Deja Vu/Jamais Vu I think my mom is haunting me

Upvotes

Idk how to put this I don’t even believe in ghosts, but some strange things have been happening. My mom died almost 2 weeks ago and within the last maybe 4 days I’ve been having these rlly weird episodes. Like I walk into our apartment and it doesn’t feel familiar at all. I literally forgot where our bathroom was. Similarly I completely forgot our level and door. Like it felt so weird I honestly think it might be her.

Things have also been changing and ig this could be other factors but it’s js another weird thing. I swear to god our kitchen light used to be the skinny long lever but now it’s the flat one. It’s silly shit like that but I feel like I’m going insane and other ppl never agree with me.

I also walker so confidently onto the wrong subway train even though I’ve taken the same one for the past 3 years. Idk I feel like I js keep being wrong abt things I’ve known my whole life. Does this sound like something a paranormal thingy can or would do

Unexplained What’s the one unexplained thing you’ve experienced that you still can’t explain? NSFW

Upvotes

I’ve always been fascinated by UFOs, paranormal experiences, strange coincidences, cryptids, and basically anything that falls into the “I have no idea what the hell that was” category.

I’m especially interested in personal experiences — not necessarily something you can prove, just something you saw, heard, felt, or experienced that you still can’t explain.

So, what’s your “I know what I saw” story?

No judgment. Skeptical takes are welcome too. I just love hearing about the weird stuff people have experienced.

Experience I saw the worst nightmare yesterday and i am still a bit shaken !

Upvotes

I had a very strange and terrifying dream last night. In the dream, I was sleeping in a house with my entire family. My parents, my husband, and I were all there together, sleeping peacefully in the same room. Everything initially felt completely normal and safe, almost like we were staying together in a familiar family home.
At some point during the night, I suddenly woke up in the dream. Everyone else was still fast asleep around me. The room was quiet and dimly lit, and there was an eerie feeling in the air that I couldn’t quite explain. I got up from where I was sleeping and slowly walked toward a netted door that separated our room from another room in the house.
As I approached the door and looked through it, I noticed a man and a woman lying down in the other room. It was fairly dark, but I could still make out their faces. Something about them immediately felt wrong.
Both of them had their eyes wide open in an unnatural way. They weren’t blinking at all. They were simply staring ahead with their eyes stretched unnaturally wide, as if they had been awake for hours without moving. Then I noticed that they were smiling.
But it wasn’t a normal smile.
Their mouths were stretched into an unnaturally wide grin, showing all of their teeth. Their lips appeared completely black, which made their smiles look even more disturbing against the darkness of the room. They weren’t saying anything or moving toward me. They were simply lying there, staring at me with those unnaturally wide, toothy smiles.
I remember feeling genuinely terrified when I saw them. Every part of me wanted to run away, but somehow, even though I was scared, I tried to act strong in the dream. I yelled at them that I wasn’t afraid of them. I don’t remember exactly what I said, but I remember trying to convince them and myself that they couldn’t scare me.
Then, without waiting to see what they would do, I turned around and ran back toward my family as fast as I could. I desperately wanted to get back to the room where everyone was sleeping because being near my family felt safe.
What made the dream especially frightening was the contrast between the peacefulness of my sleeping family and those two terrifying figures lying silently in the darkness. Even though I knew I was scared, I remember feeling determined not to let them see my fear. I woke up with the image of their wide, unblinking eyes and unnatural smiles still very clearly in my mind.
I woke up so scared that I literally sat down with my husband for half an hour before i could calm down

Unexplained My… uh… I guess, “paranormal” experience with the movie “Cabin Fever”

Upvotes

Hi!

So… I recently purchased the movie “Cabin Fever” on my Apple TV because I haven’t seen that movie since it was released on DVD and I remember liking that movie a lot.

I’m a big skeptic when it comes to the paranormal. I’ve often argued that we have gotten more tangible evidence on the existence of UFO/UAP than we have ever gotten on the paranormal front. But there is one experience I had with this movie that made me wonder if I had a genuine paranormal experience.

I’ve decided that I’ll go out on a limb and make this post because rewatching that movie just now brought back a lot of memories about what happened.

I was a teenager when that movie came out. I didn’t see it until it hit the DVD’s.

One weekend, I had a sleepover at my home with two other friends and I rented this movie from a local blockbuster.

I do remember that it was an October weekend and we rented that movie because, you know, Halloween spirit.

I also remember my mom having gone to bed making us to promise to be quiet and to go to bed after watching Cabin Fever. We were sitting in our living room in dark and the only lights on were from the kitchen just around the corner.

(Btw, for context, I’m deaf and my two other friends are also deaf. We needed some lights on so we can see our communication to each other in sign language).

We were about halfway into the movie. We were right about at that scene when this one woman character decided to canoe up to another cabin to see what was happening after going through a strange incident with a “rabid” guy the night before. There’s this shot where the camera followed her walking up from her canoe and up the hill to this another cabin. It was that shot where the camera tracked directly behind her butt strutting while walking up (you can see this shot briefly at the 27 second mark in this trailer).

When we were at that moment in the movie -

All of sudden, a couple of grey hands popped up on both sides of the TV screen (it was a box TV back at that time, not a flat screen TV. And it also was a very big box TV. My mom had a big wooden entertainment cabinet and the TV fit right in it’s roughly 3 feet wide and 3 feet high frame).

And the thing is that they weren’t human looking hands that looked like it was shot in black and white. It was a literally an outline of two hands on both sides of the screen and inside of the outline was just solid grey color. There were no features on the hands. No shadings. No veins. No finger creases. No knuckles patterns. No nothing. Just a solid grey color. I also remember it being a light shade of grey.

After a second or two, the whole TV screen flashed and the grey hands shifted like an inch forward into the screen and you could see the wrists at this moment.

Then, again, after a second or two, the whole TV screen flashed and the grey hands shifted another inch into the screen. You could see a part of the arm attached to it.

When all of this was happening, the “Cabin Fever” movie was playing in the background like normal.

My friends and me didn’t immediately reacted to this when it was happening because it happened really fast and we just assumed that it was a part of the movie.

Then, another a second or two went by, the TV screen flashed again and the hands reached closer to the center.

This kept on happening until the hands overlapped each other.

And it kept on happening until the hands expanded itself while overlapped with each other until the whole TV screen turned solid light grey.

It was at the moment where the overlapping grey hands expanded into the black “letterbox” bars on the top and bottom part of the screen that I realized that something fucky was happening.

Finally, I turned to my friends and we were all like: “what the fuck is happening right now? Is this a part of the movie?”

We waited for good minute or so but the screen just stayed light grey the whole time.

So I just told my friends that it was probably some DVD gimmick because there were some of that going around with few DVD’s as a cool feature (if you’re old enough to be around the DVD boom, you know what I’m talking about). And I just ejected the DVD and put it back in.

I skipped forward to the same part that we left off at.

The woman got off her canoe and walked up the hill toward the another cabin and nothing happened. We brushed it off and just kept on watching the movie. Then just one or two minutes in the following scene… the same thing happened again!

The grey hands appeared again at a different point of the movie a couple or three minutes into from where we originally saw that happening.

It did the same thing with covering up the whole screen solid grey.

It was at that point of the time when we began to turning the lights on in the living room.

To this day, my friends and me still remember this clearly.
